Site events are the cornerstone for Gaia and they're a whole lot of fun to participate in. However, what do you do between Gaia run events? There are going to be months where we won't be participating in another Gaia event. That's why it's good to have a plan for little things we can do in the guild to keep us active and have fun with each other. Here's where you guys come in.
Instead of the crew and I sitting behind closed doors in a conference room at GCA headquarters coming up with stuff we think is fun we're going to let you the members tell us what you think would be fun stuff to do in the guild. What kind of events, contests, and games do you think you would like to see between events? They don't have to be huge and elaborate but something fun and fairly easy for us to put together. No idea is stupid so even if you think we won't like it or do it suggest it anyhow because you never know. This is just a bull session for bouncing ideas off each other. Our gifting idea, which I hope those of you who signed up to do it are still doing it, came from a guild member suggestion. So one or more of your suggestions could very well be our next fun thing to do in the guild.
That said, suggest away Alliance members!

Well, here's an idea of sorts. Still working out the mechanics, but it relates to the dice system and based on those rolls, you can rack up points. Once reaching a set tier of poibts, you get badges, which can be posted in your sig, journal, posts, whereever.
First idea is something to do with growing trees. Say you roll a d20 for every so many posts to grow it by an inch or so. After it growing so many inches, we mar wait, wait, here's another idea! We give seeds to Gaians to grow and use one of those websites where you click on to make it evolve, instead it will grow. Growing it to full wins you a badge and an item prize.
I have no problem with drawing the seeds and the trees. * v *

I've enjoyed the RP we've gotten to do with the Nyx group in the Spring Fling forum. Is it possible to plan something like that for post-Spring Fling?

Oh yeah I can rework the Tavern thread I have in the RP section for a nice light social RP and stick it in the main section of the forum since it won't be too serious, which is what I had intended it to be. Is it just me, or is my avatar broken here? It's only in the guild. Could be my phone since I have an animated item on... But anyway, that would be something cool to incorporate. I would imagine the fruit from said trees would provide some type of temporary power, magic or healing. And the chances of growing these types of fruits would be low unless you have certain ingredients and conditions, like Frost Fruit, grown in icy conditions, Glow fruit, etc. Er...apologize if I go to far, I'm still in world building mode from the previous RP game I was in. sweatdrop

You remind me of a good friend of mine who's left the site to focus on getting her life in order. She LOVED the whole notion of being able to imagine what the world of Gaia was like outside of the four towns and Dref Dur. World building and expansion around Gaia was her favorite topic of discussion in places like the GCD. I'm all for anything that builds upon what we've been given by Gaia HQ.

Thought of another idea too for a fun little event that can extend out into the rest of Gaia. * v *
So I see that you can gift images as well as items anon, (tested it out on a mule) and thought of sending little envelopes with letters to people. The letters will have some sort of instructions, first one being to wear a particular item. This will let us know that you are participating
Next letter sent out, will be instructions to post a specific phrase at the end of all your posts. You can post normally, you would just have a phrase of some kind at the end of it. Do this for a week or a few days.
The next letter will have a riddle of some kind and solving it will lead you to a specific spot somewhere in Gaia ( I'm thinking towns 2 ) where the users will meet the anon giving out the letters and provide a prize for those that followed everything.
Could be more steps in between, but that's what I got so far.

`Hydro So what are the ideas for the summer event so far? As far as I know from what the GCD has been mentioning it's looking to be humanoids against animals. Now I don't know if this is going to be in the form of some kind of battle or some type of general silly carnival games for prizes kind of a thing. I figure in the way of an event thread we can try some of the same things we did for the Spring Fling.
Here's what I'm thinking for summer:
✖ Again we can have a fifty/fifty raffle (since I know what to do this time about such a thing)
✖ Have another avatar contest. This time we have one for humanoids and one for animals
✖ Maybe some art freebies if we can get a volunteer for that again
✖ Possibly some type of game involving anon gifting (I've been hitting up the DD lately and pulling a lot of Philosopher's Caches so they can be good items to use with the anon gifting game)
✖ maybe some kind of dice roll or particular page number giveaway to encourage people to participate in the thread
I learned a lot from the Spring Fling event and I do want the summer event to help us recruit for Halloween and beyond so first things first we need to raise serious funds to get people to take us seriously and want to participate in our thread. We're working on getting that going as we speak.
