Okay, after playing a lot of Pokemon Y lately, working on a Fanfiction, and just filling my life with pokemon in general like I jumped back to 1998. I have a question to you other pokemon trainers. What personalities and or Backstories does your team have? Do they have the same personality as their nature or different? Heck, even tell me your trainers personality.

Though if we're sharing I guess I should also share mine. Though I will say this. Trigger warnings: Trainer abuse and death.

But first I need to type mine up.

It could be your main party or just ones you really want to share.

My Gardevoir, Evangeline, is the team's matron, and is kind of a depressed individual. Her father, whom she looked up to, was a Gallade, and she grew up wanting to be just like him.
However, being a girl, that couldn't happen. It weighed heavy upon her during her time as a Kirlia, causing her to never dance and a stunt in her final evolution to Gardevoir. Eventually, however, she met a Lucario who helped her sort out her aura and evolve in a tundra region.

Blaziken, named Bartholomew, is a forward and stouthearted individual. He's extremely protective of basically everyone, and has a habit of bringing harm upon himself to take it off the others.
He is, however, also exceptionally stubborn. If he sees a problem he will refuse to move on before fixing it, which causes internal strife and far more injuries than would otherwise be necessary.

Aggron, named Errant. A happy, simple individual whom was met in the desert when her family was descending on a railroad that would otherwise lead through the desert. When the trainer went to stop the situation, she ended up in a mono-e-mono wrestling match with this little cretin, who then decided she wanted to leave home to follow the crazy bag of flesh who was willing to wrestle a bag of steel and stone.
The lest independant out of all her friends, she's content to simply follow the rest of the group and provide an indestructible wall for support. She can move on her own if she ever finds it necessary, but she feels out of place without her friends.

Mach, the flygon, was found midway through the desert. His parents, the two Flygon, were assaulted by an organization of dragon hunters, and it was rushing headfirst after them.
Despite being a slow little Trapinch at the time. Errant noticed it and jumped off the train at full speed, and in so doing got the whole group into a fight against the dragon hunters, which ended debatably well.
Mach, a thoughtless and irrational being, has a habit of running headlong into situations ahead of everyone else. Unlike the rest, he's completely unwilling to listen to orders, not because he's obstinant, but because by the time he hears them he's already five steps ahead. Has a habit of demanding that he be the one to fight any dragon type enemies no matter how poor the matchup is.

Suspiria, the Frosslass, was picked up on a visit to the north lands, wherein the group had lost Evangeline. She convinced the group to partner up with her to settle a personal feud with another Snorunt with a promise that it would then use its knowledge of the land to help find the lost Kirlia.
She's cunning and dishonest, often irritating everyone else with the delibrate use of honorless tactics in battle. But more than anything else, when given charge of a situation, everything turns out well, and they suffer her presence because she's the only one with the willingness to utilize any course of action to see things through properly, wherein everyone else is pretty damn irresponsible.

And last is Drelia, the Absol.
Standoffish, yet kind. Exceptionally secretive.

Ember(Charizard):(Trigger Warning: Rape and Abuse.) Ember has had in a nutshell, a tough life. She was the child born from a trainers Charmeleon.....however she instead of being taken and raised. Was left in the daycare, used in the Trainers attempts to get a Charmander that was not only shiny but the right nature. Day in and day out, she was repeatedly impregnated by dittos. The children she mothered were released or used to help make it easier for the trainer to get the Pokemon he wanted. However, luckily for Ember, Pokemon Rangers came and released her from her torment. Her previous Trainer arrested and sent away for a very long time. She was then taken into the Custody of Professor Sycamore of the Kalos Region who helped her get back on her feet. He helped her put together the pieces of her that the other trainer had shattered. She would only allow Sycamore to use her in battle. Until one bright sunny day. A new trainer came. Other trainers didn't stand a chance against her skills...but this one defeated her in fair combat. With his Froakie. After the battle, the trainer was allowed to take one of them with him....and he chose her. That was the day that Ember joined E's team. She's a hothead. Ready to ignite your hair at the drop of a hat. She holds a fierce rivalry with Kaerunin. But the two are actually like sisters in most regards. (Note: Do not let her drink. As cool as it sounds, fire type + Alcohol = 3rd degree burns.)

Kaerunin(Greninja): Kaerunin has asked me not to speak of her past. And as her trainer, as my starter, I will respect her wishes. She's my second in command. Always there with calculating thoughts, helping me turn a hopeless situation to our benefit. She could also be seen as my own personal assassin. The team flare grunts I asked for Dead....are now dead thanks to her.

Giovanni(Sableye): One of the most illusive bastards out there. He was holed up in Reflection Cave. Guarded by over 50 pokemon. He held the economy of the cave in a tight grasp and we needed that for our team. We waded over various Roggenrola's, Mr. Mimes, Wobbuffets, solosis's, and Carbinks just to get to him. Eventually though, we caught him.

Denki(Pikachu): A bit of a spazz. He was "employed" by Team Flare to jack or wreck Trainers Holo Casters forcing them to buy new ones. He came across our team south of Santalune Forest. He was easily subdued and captured and when questioned....spilled the beans about Team Flare....infact because of him, we're now on the quest to take down Team Flare by less than legal means. He has a crush on Shina(Espurr.) but is kept at bay by her idea of affection.

Shina (Espurr): She's different. Her idea of affection is zero personal space. She's also very possessive of Denki. If you look at him....she will begin planning your downfall. She's a good kid though, just needs to learn personal space. (Kaerunin: I'm getting really tired of waking up to Denki screaming upon finding Shina in his bed.)

Excalibur (Doublade): He's the quiet type. He litterally doesn't speak or make a noise nor does he give off a presence which makes you jump when you find him right behind you after a team meeting. Infact it's thanks to Kaerunin that we even know what he wants half the time. Also, he allows her to wield him when someone needs their life threatened.

Ah, I've always waited for a topic like this to show up, my Trainer and Pokemon have rich backstories. Sorry it took so long to post it, I’ve been very busy!

My trainer is named Tressie and is 17 years old. She was born the daughter of one of the wealthy networking engineers on Knot Island as well as her, now deceased, grandfather on her mother’s side being a former Kanto champion. Due to the climate of where she was born, she enjoys warm weather. The small size of the island but its interesting features, have caused her to be quite an adventurer for sights and wonderful things. It has, however, made her quite lonely on the inside, sparking her wish to meet people and Pokemon and travel. She is rather silly at heart and very soft, with jolly being an excellent word to describe her. Everyone’s spirits are lifted when she speaks because while she may not have had much practice in her youth, she always tries to make everyone happy, which is enough usually. Being the daughter of a very intelligent engineer, she is very booksmart herself in many subjects including sciences, sociology, political science, psychology, economics and leadership roles. Unfortunately her sheltered life of being rich on a small island and preferring to learn all she can has caused her to lack in the physical. She is slow and weak, making it difficult for her to train her Pokemon personally, unlike most other trainers. She is quite dainty, does not like to be dirty and wears formal clothes. Her demeanor changes upon defeat from jolly to a bit defeatist and self-critical. She is very hard on herself in this way due to the success of her grandfather and her mother being a skilled battler herself, having been on a journey and placing fourth in the Indigo league. She has a southern accent that will sometimes come through if she does not pay attention.

Charles is her Charizard, her first Pokemon. Already a Charizard when she received him from her father when she was young, he originally belonged to her grandfather when he began his journey. He is a guardian of the family. Charles is very imposing, being extremely large due to his age and also very wise, a skilled diplomat among pokemon. Charles can read and write in english, making him able to communicate his thoughts to humans. He is very level-headed and early in her journey would not battle, as it would deny her learning experiences due to his overwhelming power compared to a typical opponent. Charles is also the one that implements Tressie’s plans and does the physical aspect of training for the team, as she tries but is typically too weak. Charles is not afraid of Pokeballs and will willingly go inside, but he tends to prefer to stay outside as if guarding his master.

Everrit is her Espeon, her ‘starter’ Pokemon. He was received as an Eevee, despite her having Charles, for her to begin her journey with a young Pokemon as is typical of trainers. While at first overconfident, Charles quickly showed him just how different a young Pokemon like himself can be to an experienced one in power. He is a quick learner however and also has an eidetic memory, which is very useful for using his powers of telekinesis. Due to being a quick learner, he mellowed out early and he is rather mature for his age, always being very calm and rational. Unlike Charles, however, he lacks life experience that comes with age, but he is smart enough to realize this. He possesses telepathy as his powers are quite strong and has taken that opportunity to learn English from Tressie’s mind. This caused the humorous consequence of his telepathic voice to have a southern accent. He is an optimist and believes every bad situation has an answer, this reflects in battle as he is very creative with his moves. Charles enjoys speaking to him as he is a young, calm mind with fresh ideas. Tressie found him very adorable, being very proud he was her ‘starter’ and their bond quickly grew, causing him to evolve very early.

Scyuler is her Scizor, her first received Pokemon. He was abandoned by his former trainer due to his diminutive size and seemingly lack of combat skill. The truth of the matter is he is easily discouraged and the trainer’s comments had sent him into a depression and made him lack will. Rescued and taken to a Pokemon Center in a rural area, Tressie was the first trainer to pass by it, walking in during a rainstorm. Closing her umbrella, the nurse was already by her side explaining this Pokemon’s plight. Tressie being her jolly self was able to cheer him up somewhat, enough to lift his depression and cause him to join her team. He now tries very hard and is stubborn in a way to please her in battle. He still gets very sad in defeats, but he is more alright with this than before due to her never blaming her Pokemon like his former trainer, but herself. He has developed a curiosity for the world around him after his self esteem improved.

Hyper Z is her Porygon-Z, a Pokemon that owes her its life. Hyper Z was stolen by a Pokemon con artist, who intended to sell rare Pokemon to foreign buyers. Tressie encountered him by the road, his intention to kill her by surprise and take her Pokemon as he had done others before. Everrit was out with her at the time, being fed some food. He sensed the danger and used telekinesis to lean her back, dodging the bullets the man had shot. His surprise being foiled and knowing she had Pokemon out already, he instead challenged her to a Pokemon battle for possession of her Pokemon and life. Knowing who would want to battle, she released Charles from his Pokeball, he quickly became angry and blasted fire into the sky. The man released a Rhyperior and before a command could even be said, Charles flew towards it and knocked it to the ground with a push. Rhyperior got up angrily and stood before Charles, but both Rhyperior and the man suddenly had looks of fear, as Charles towered over Rhyperior, who would usually tower over a Charizard. Tressie and the con artist merely watched as Charles unleashed power he had not used on an opponent in decades, bloodying and bruising the enemy Pokemon as it attempted to cover its face. Charles grabbed its arms, spread them apart forcefully and breathed fire. He then let go and jumped back with a wing-stroke as Rhyperior fell to its stomach. It managed to hold up a hand towards Charles, telling him to stop. Charles then walked towards the con artist, grabbing him and lifting him off the ground. Tressie was a bit afraid of this ordeal and sudden display of aggression, as well as being shot at, but had called the police, who arrived shortly. The con artist was taken to prison and his stolen Pokemon, a Porygon-Z, was given to Tressie. Interestingly enough, Hyper Z is very quirky and care-free, accepting losses and wins easily. It is apparently good at telling jokes and is entertaining as well, as the other Pokemon enjoy its presence.

Tramaine is her Flygon, her first captured Pokemon. She was eating with her Pokemon on a hiking trail when she swooped out of the sky, headed for them. Charles took this as an attack on Tressie and quickly flew up, double axe handling Tramaine towards the ground. She actually recovered before hitting the ground, surprising everyone, but made another dash for the food. Charles put himself between the two in an attempt at protection, moving back and forth as she did. Seeing an opening, Charles tackled her and sent her back. She fell to the ground, a bit flustered and bruised, but did not give up, getting back up into the air. Unknown to both, Tressie had readied a Pokeball and threw it at Tramaine. It wiggled for quite some time, but finally captured her. She then let Tramaine out and she was very surprised, she finally thought to explain that she was merely hungry, which made everyone feel a bit silly, but relieved. Tramaine is very stubborn and typically only listens to Charles or Tressie herself, but isn’t necessarily confrontational. She enjoys practical jokes and training to become stronger. It is believed she has a crush on Charles due to his great strength displayed in the battle against her. She seems to be used to getting whatever she wants as she was very powerful for a wild Pokemon.

Pierce is her Pikachu, uncaptured but part of the team. Pierce is a very special case that typically doesn’t happen with teams. He was never captured, but merely followed Tressie around enough to practically become one of her Pokemon. He is quite macho and prefers to fight with electrified punches than electrified jolts. Has nearly unwavering confidence even against near certain defeat. Another unusual trait is that he seems rather perverted, commonly caught looking down a shirt or up a dress. He isn’t afraid to do manual labor and will often fetch Tressie things or do work without even being asked. He first started to follow Tressie around Vermillion city, being a wild Pokemon that lived within the city. While he does seem to have at least somewhat of an actual like of Tressie now, it is mostly believed he began following her because she is very buxom. Hyper Z likes him and uses him as the brunt of some jokes, but he does not seem to mind the attention whatsoever. As laid back as he is at most times, he does take training and battles quite seriously and is proud of his power and unique fighting style, noting that his small size as a Pikachu makes him need incredible skill to go hand to hand with other Pokemon

Hm, this ended up kinnnnnda long.

Thank you! I have more details of course, but it was already awkwardly long, I tend to take a more real world approach in my backstories though.

I'm a bit curious.

Been thinking on what my trainer's moveset would be, on account of her damn well insisting that nothing fights for her if she doesn't fight herself.
I've already decided that her moveset would be Dynamic punch or sky uppercut, sucker punch, bounce, and play rough, with an ability that essentially dictates that she can't use any of them without a specific held item.
Which is a military made exoskeleton with a jump/landing assisting apparatus.

And up 'till now, I've been thinking she's obviously a fighting type who has pretty crap stats all around on account of being a squishy hoomie.
But then I thought on the fairy type.

Fairy types are, in general, some combination of empath or performer. Singers, mimes, walking traps, dancers, and literal empaths.
Which kind of fits the tricky, sporadic, whimsical, and somewhat emotional nature of the trainer.

It'd also carry with it a weakness to steel, an unwillingness to punch fire, the ability to predict and avoid dragonic attacks, and all the like.

So m'curiosity centers around one thing.
Would it make sense for a trainer to be counted as a fairy/fighting type?

Kinda.

Your character might be a fighting fairy type....however....not all share that type matchup. At least from what I gathered through my observations.

Oh, no, I wouldn't say all hoomies are fairy/fighting.
But she's spent her entire life training with a martial artist father, her martial artist fire chicken, and her highly empathic fairy friend.

Mind the first two on the list were with her essentially since birth. Less friends and more siblings with bonds diamond couldn't cut.

She's definitely not psychic, though. Which is the other seemingly possible human typing.
Along with dark. I can definitely see a human taking on a dark type, which is basically dishonest fighting and a really, really bad attitude.

....
Also, a thing to note.
Matilda has never actually captured a pokemon.
Mach and Errant were invited to join her and accepted because Errant's impressionable and Mach was lured in by the promise of greater challenges than he could imagine.
Suspiria convinced Mat to take her along.
And Drelia is more of an informal sixth member who keeps crossing paths with the rest whenever something really, really bad happens. The reason why Mat doesn't know anything about the fellow's because Drelia can't be read by Evangeline's telepathy as a dark type and doesn't stick around once any given problem is solved.
Both Evan and Mat suspect (s)he consciously avoids them because they make him/er uncomfortable, and that (s)he's unconsciously drawn towards them due to a sense of intrigue.

My character has caught multiple pokemon. Mostly to help take down Team Flare. The only one who besides Kaerunin and Ember, willingly came was Denki.

My Trainer is most likely Psychic type, which is interesting, as my friend safari is also.

She's only caught one Pokemon, but then again, I am sure her mother would allow her to use her tournament worthy team when she has enough experience... especially considering one of the Pokemon on it was her pet when she was very young.

Pfft.

I spent most of today with E, Kaerunin, Serena, and her Chestnaught having some major brawl right beside me.

Mostly it was Serena punching E and Kaerunin outsmarting Chestnaught. Though, I think there's a little something going on between Kaerunin and the Chestnaught....even though they can't produce any children.
