Erevu stared at the game before glancing over at Lokesh, grinning. ”It is that peaceful,” he whispered before frowning, ears twitching. Why was he asked if he ever left the lands? ”Not too far, no.” he responded back slowly, still keeping his voice low. Now ignoring the subject, he stared out at the tall grass in front of him, relaxing more against the rock.
”Go ahead. Once you’ve eaten, I’ll escort you back to the border,” he told him, getting comfortable and keeping a watchful eye trained on him. Yawning slightly, still tired from staying up nearly all night while patrolling, he forced his rusty eyes to stay open. He definitely couldn’t fall asleep until he was back in complete safety.

He could only assume that that grin was completely genuine. Reflexively, he gave an unsure yet tentative smile back. His shoulders twitching in anticipation. Lokesh was also uncertain. The male's frown concerned him, but he was unsure why it came about. "You could come with me and explore....if you wanted." he replied, turning back to watching the prey mill about.
Lokesh didn't need to be told twice about going after a meal. He said a quick thanks before getting up and scrambling towards the nearest prey. There was no strategy. Commonly, there would be. But the lion was too famished to really care at this point. His first attempt failed, but his second, a young antelope who happened to be injured already, did the trick. His paws and teeth latched onto it's body, breaking the neck seamlessly.
Having caught his meal, he glanced up, antelope in his maw, and trudged back to Erevu, dropping it besides the male. "You're welcome to have some," he mouthed, tearing at one of the hind legs with his teeth. There was no need to wait.

Erevu watched as the male sloppily hunted; he was desperate. Must have been starving. Laying down, he placed his muzzle on top of his paws. When the male finally caught his meal and came back with it, the scout flashed a quick grin before shaking his head. ”No thank you,” he responded politely; he wasn’t hungry, just tired.

The rogue enjoyed his meal with relish, enjoying not only the meal but the company that was beside him. Perhaps it was the fact that he hadn't eaten for awhile, or perhaps he was just starved for company. In any case, his catch was savory; nothing like he had ever tasted before. It made him greedy, only giving a shrug to the man as he devoured the carcass. And he only felt at peace from having the man by his side, not intimidated at all. It was strange to meet a guard who wasn't intimidating all the time. But Lokesh couldn't state that he minded it.
Licking his chops, he gave a pleasant smile towards the pridelander, having had his fill. "Thank you," he said graciously, running his rough tongue over his chops once again. He couldn't eat another bite, but that didn't mean he could try to lick off the excess that was on his maw.
But, even though he was ready to leave, Lokesh was hesitant. He didn't want the company to go to waste. And so he gave the male an unsure look, not really knowing how to not come off as rude. "I...wouldn't mind resting here for a day or two. If your pride doesn't mind, that is." he offered, bowing his head. The lion didn't feel like leaving, not quite yet. But if they didn't enjoy strangers resting there, he'd understand and would be on his way. It's not like he was of any importance to this pride.

Erevu watched him eat, observing quietly, eyes hooded with weariness. Idly, he wondered how long ago the green and brown lion had last eaten. When the word of gratitude was spoken, Erevu smiled in response, lifting his head from his paws. ”You’re welcome,” he responded politely.
Half expecting the lion to up and leave, Erevu tensed his muscles to stand, before freezing. Did he hear right? Abandoning the idea of moving, the lion grinned, eyes shining brightly with excitement. It was always nice to have friendly visitors. If they visited, then surely his pride was appeasing. ”Our pride welcomes all friendly creatures,” Erevu told him, shaking his mane out proudly. ”I won’t be able to accompany you during the noonday shifts, unfortunately. Duties. But, if you’re willing, I definitely wouldn’t mind showing you around.”

Lokesh was quite relieved at the answer he was given. The pridelander didn't seem to be a danger at all, and was very welcoming. In fact, the lion's excitement seemed to infectious, that even though he was weary from his travels, Lokesh couldn't help but grin at the other, eyes alight with relief. He really hadn't wanted to make his stay short. The only prides that he tried to do that with were the ones that were rather hostile.
And who knows, he may find his family here.
The thought made him stand up taller, prouder, more confident, and his eyes suddenly very alert and awake, even though he had just had a hefty meal. Most would want to sleep after their hunger was satiated. Not Lokesh. Not at this time. Even though there was a very slim chance that his family wasn't there, he still wanted to cling onto the hope that maybe they were there. And if they weren't? That was okay. He'd be a bit disheartened, but he'd move on. It was better than not looking at all and missing his opportunity.
So, he padded over towards Erevu, the broad grin on his maw growing bigger with each step. Having someone to show him around the pridelands was just the thing that he needed. Exploring without a native by his side tended to give him odd looks and create a tense atmosphere in other prides. So really, he wouldn't mind the companionship at all. "That would be fantastic." he breathed out, antsy. He couldn't wait to get started.

Erevu couldn’t suspect a smile. And he knew that had to change, such naivety. But he couldn’t help it and couldn’t bring himself to doubt it. And so, he just grinned back. Standing up, he examined the other lion carefully. He was normally a great judge of character; this lion seemed to have no ill intentions towards his pride.
Watching the other approach, he nodded at the response. Yes, it would be fantastic. ”I’ll show you where you can stay for now but then, afterwards, I have to return to my duties. Is that alright?” he asked, though still turning in the direction of his den. He didn’t live with anyone just yet, though he was hoping he could one day share it with Yai. At the time, however, it served his needs perfectly, the solitude. No one would bother the rogue.

Lokesh couldn't imagine that life could get any better than this.
At the nod, his grin grew as wide as can be, hopeful and eager to begin his search around the pride. There was always the next day. In fact, his mother had always chided him on his over eagerness, his yearning to explore and find what he was looking for when he was practically dead on his feet. But the rogue couldn't help it. When it came to his family, who he had been searching for so long for, the inkling of a chance of finding them here was exhilarating. She would understand. That or he'd deal with deal with being berated when he found her.
But his hopeful smile faltered slightly, though. Erevu would be going back to his duties after showing him where he stayed, leaving him utterly alone. Lokesh understood why, but still, it made him feel a bit lonely. After traveling for so long, he just wanted to have some company. But, he wasn't going to voice it. The pridelander would be back after his duties. He could wait, possibly sleep, or, if he really couldn't handle it, possibly explore the land around the dwelling. He could occupy himself with something to do, surely.
So, he offered a sincere look towards the pridelander, nodding his head subtly back. "That's fine."

Grinning with excitement, the soon-to-be scout jumped off the rock, before eyeing the carcass. The circle of life would take care of it… but he should patrol in this area for the next few days; rogue scavengers may happen upon it and, although fine, caution was still needed.
”Come on, this way,” he told the green mane lion, turning into the direction of his den. It was a decent place, if not as cozy as his parents’ as of yet; he hadn’t had the time to spruce it up. But it was large enough to accommodate a small starting family and definitely large enough for two grown lions to sleep in. Erevu smiled, going his happy little way to his den.

Nodding, Lokesh followed the pridelander towards where he would come home, at least for the time being. He didn't dawdle like a little cubling, but his steps were heavy, practically dragging his feet.
Soon, he'd be able to see his family. They may not staying in the pridelands, but there was hope. He could look around, see if they were around without being too much of a hindrance. And if he didn't find what he was looking for? Then he could rest until he was able to be escorted around the pride. Knowing how long he'd be journeying previously, he knew he could probably sleep for that long without awakening even when called on.
