• Through the cold, still air, a serpent's body swam through the air, held aloft by the beating of two sets of overlapping , feathered wings. Swimming over the village, the snake's body coiled and circled, sweeping low to a tree line that set on a narrow cliff ledge above the village before diving for the senter of the village, where a large and open expanse sat as the snow covered center square. Before touching ground the great flying serpant turned white and textureless, her body morphing down smoothly and swiftly to a more solid and bulky form. Landing with a shaking thud, causing snow to fall from rafters and cause a hollow, resonating impact to echo into the mountains, was an ice golom, clear and pristine. Sunggling down into itself, the golom took on the sharp of an ice boulder, situated almost completely perfectly in the center of the town square, appearing as though part of the surroundings, devoid of anything resembling limbs or a face - just a jaggard yet crystal like boulder. No one, and nothing, else had landed with the golom.

When Kit had sweeped low to the tree line, Joushe had lept off, landing down into the snow and taking quick cover under a low and snow heavy bush. The black jumper allowed Joushi to hide under the snow and blend with the shadows, while the black scarf was pulled up and high, hiding pink hair and fair skin into the shadows as well. Jou had been careful, lying down on the snow and scooting backwards slowly to hide under the bush while taking care not to disturb it and cause its snow-laden leaves and branches to drop their weight. Tucked all the way in and under, the half moon that shone above was dull enough to give the shadows more depth, tucking Joushi in witheir inky blackness while also reducing the risk of Joushi's sniper rifle being caught by and reflecting the moonlight. Settled under he bush Jou had pulled out the sniper rifle and pulled out its front mounted stand from where it was attached along the barrel, situating it forward and down, aiming to the village below. Peering down the sights, Joushi used one hand to keep the weapon steady and the other to play with the sights, focusing the vision until it was clear on the village below. The moment the target, Alaric is seen Jou would fire, the sound would echo and bounch off the surrounding cliffs and mountains, hiding the Dragoon's spot. The sound of the gun fire would prevent anyone from informing Alaric of the sudden arrival of the crystal boulder, the gun shot scaring them, or at least distracting them, enough to stear clear of the Beast Charmer's target. They would be aware of the exam, and the possible dangers they imposed.

With calm, steadying breaths, both master and demon sat and waited, perfectly still. And ready.

A couple of miles out away from the village Alaric made his way towards the villages in a pretty fast fashion. Alaric arrived from the air about a mile away from his current location, but decided to land before getting close to village, so he wouldn't draw to much attention to himself. He had his hands in the pockets of his dark green trench coat so he can keep himself a little bit warmer. The collar of his coat pointed up to block his face from snow and also to hide his face a bit, but he knew in the long run it was pointless, only someone who was a part of the exam would make this trip during third exam. So it would be easy to figure out who he was and also the fact even though he was wearing warm clothes, they were clothes that wasn't appropriate for this type of weather, so from that alone a person could tell he wasn't planning to come here.

It was only about an hour ago that he got the text stating he was to come here for his first fight for the third exam and who his opponent was, Joushi Motisi. Alaric didn't know much about his opponent other then he was a Dragoon type, so he knew long range was his choice of battle and coming in from the air would be a deadly mistake. He knew that Joushi had a familiar, but he had no knowledge of the creature ability, so he had to be cautious. All else in the past Ignazio had a type of friendship with this person, so it would mean that Joushi had to be smart in some way to hang around Ignazio. Alaric had to be on his toe completely knowing he might not even see the first attack, but the question is would it be from Joushi himself or the familiar to make the first attack. So taking all those into account Alaric took the precaution to surround himself with a pretty thin wind barrier so it couldn't be noticed and with the strong cold wind would make it harder. Even though it was thin it was still strong enough to protect him from most type of bullets, it can even protect him from a explosion, and even a physical attack to a certain extent, but Qi base attack it would depend on the power of it.

It didn't take long for Alaric to make it to a point where he could see the village. He stood a top of a decently high ledge of a small mountain so he could see everything; however with the night covering most of the area he couldn't exactly everything. He could only see what was in the village since light was emitting from it. "So this is where I will have my first battle of the third exam here?" He had thought as he looked around the area in hope to catch some glimpse of his opponent, but there was no luck at all. He let out a sigh, "I can't fail. I already seem like a fool during the second part of the exam since I got lost, but this time I will make sure I will not look a fool this time around." Alaric was more serious then he has been in a long time. His only focus was to win this battle and to do that he couldn't let himself get carried away and make the wrong step, he had to think everything through before he makes any type of action. He kept his position at the ledge he didn't want to get to close to the Village, he didn't want involve anyone in the Village in this battle at the moment. He knew it was most likely going to happen anyway, but if he could he was going to avoid it. He waited for any sign of his opponent.

The arrival of Alaric through the talisman sensory barrier was enough to make the proctor come from hiding within the snow covered trees. The proctor for this match was a woman, she had long dark hair and a slender body, she also held an extremely long blade in her left hand; sheathed, as she walked through the village. The woman looked around as she walked; luckily the village was completely empty and staged for this event on its own, but if it hadn’t she would have been a little more angry over the people of the village being injured because of the exam placement this year. The woman came to a stop. She was a rather tall woman, standing about one hundred and seventy centimeters in height, her long black hair tied up in a ponytail that reached her hips and has a very attractive body along with large breasts. One can easily associate her white skin with that of a princess. She was wearing a short white T-shirt tied into a knot at the bottom, revealing her navel, yet the shirt was covered by a denim jacket; a pair of jeans below with one side sawed off, revealing her thigh. Because the T-shirt was tied down, her breasts were much more noticeable. One can see her snowy white leg, from the thigh all the way down. The two-meter-long nodachi at her side is known throughout the Order as ‘Shichiten Shichitou’ and with that her name was just as famous as her blade. The woman had on a pair of cowboy boots which sunk into the snow as she walked along the two and a half foot deep snow path. Her eyes looked at the two half demons as she shift from left to right and then a sigh escaped her lips. ”Listen up, I’m only going to explain these rules one time. It’s very simple, you’re to immobilize your target. Should you kill your target in the process then you will still win, I just wanted to allow you to know you don’t have to kill each other, as long as the other person is unfit for battle. If I step in, it’s because the match is over and one of you two are no longer fit for combat. ” she said rather loudly and firmly.

Her voice bounced off of the mountains and the empty homes and carried along the wind. The words were cold and serious; she clearly didn’t plan on dealing with nonsense. ”My name is Kaznaki Kaori and I will be your proctor. This area is your fighting grounds, so long as you don’t leave Glacial Village territory you won’t be injured by the barrier that’s set up. It’s made especially for you demons. Now, your match has officially begun. You may ask me any question, at any given time during the exam. I’ll remain in this area so it’s not hard for you to find me. Should you need my assistance in order to give up, just raise your right arm in the air and say you surrender. I’ll be there in less than five minutes to escort you back to safe ground.”

• The wind had picked up since their arrival, snow having built up on and around the large ice boulder in the center of the village and further burying and hiding the sniper whom had made a warm little igloo under the thick branches of the bush. Despite the frozen, white water that fell and buried Joushi, the Dragoon was also kept warm from the weather's thick blanketing. The snow acted as insulation, help aloft from Joushi's prone form by the bush's wooden webbing. It stopped the wind from sneaking in and thieving away what heat the Italian's body naturally produced. Every exhale of warm breath was also trapped in this snowy cocoon, slowly adding to the temperature and helping to prevent the Beast Master from falling into a hypothermic induced nap as well as its sluggish symptoms. The black scarf, wrapped around mouth, nose, and hair, allowed only calm, green eyes to stare down at the village, the built up snow preventing any vision along the rest of the cliff face Jou had perched upon, thus denying the Dragoon the ability to visually spot Alaric's arrival. The wind, snow, and stony boulders and jagged edges of the cliff face did not, however, conceal the half-breed's demonic aura. Green eyes slowly blinked, senses alert on that little, whispering flare of energy, and contined to stare down at the hollow, empty village. Jou's stomach and chest were resting on the rectangular black bag, keeping the Italian's torso dry while the toes white and grey patterened boots were pressed into the snow and keeping legs aloft from the ice, also keeping muscles tense and ready to spring. Having tensed muscles was a rookie mistake as a sniper, however Jou needed to avoid direct contact with the snow and be ready to move in case the half breed launched an attack near or on the sniper's nest.

From the moment Jou had first settled under that snow loaded bush the Dragoon had remained still and calm. Taking measures of calm breaths and focused thoughts also had the effect of ensuring the heart beating inside the Dragoon's chest remained steady and adrenalin was not wasted in preperation for this match. Adrenalin was a last resort, for a sniper. It was to escape, to run. It was not for waiting, for its course through a sniper's body before the shot had been fired would only tire muscles and make thoughts and mind weary, troubled, and distracted. It was an undesirable trait. A sniper should only have to fire one shot, collect the spent shell, and leave, calmly, innocently, a ghost. That was the true goal of a sniper, an assassin. But snipers were also meant to be unexpected, and Alaric was expecting. That much was clear by his position on the cliff and not having arrived in the village proper - a village Jou would assume has either been evacuated or was no more than a stage for this event, judging from the lack of concerned voices and investigative faces through windows and doors after Kit's heavy, snow disturbing landing. Alaric was aware of Jou's use of guns, but lets see if the half breed had the mind and care of his own self to stay out in this harsh weather, standing on the cliff with no shelter to guard and warm him. Would Alaric be aware of how to use the very chilling snow to instead keep him warm? Or would he show a less patient nature and begin seeking Joushi out, calling from the Dragoon to face him? Jou, meanwhile, had all the patience and shelter to wait for Alaric's frozen death or white flag.

Green eyes narrowed, peering down the scope mounted on top of the Italian sniper rifle, as a figure emerged in the village. Not Alaric, Jou witnessed and Kit sensed, but the judge for this little duel. She faced the mountain cliff, clearly showing her awareness of their locations. But would Alaric figure that out? Or just assume she was only talking to him for he was standing in the open, the half moon still spilling enough light to touch his figure. Even if Alaric would assume Joushi's location on the cliff, there was still the challenge of finding the Dragoon.

'A barrier?' Jou mused. 'How insecure. An admittance of their need for the illusion of control. Why don't you just kill us now, exorcist. Is that not your duty?' Without a flicker in the mask of Jou's expressionless face, the Dragoon lowered the cross hairs from the proctor's body, green eyes instead moving away from the sight to instead gaze down at the village's entirety, senses on Alaric, and waiting for someone to move. I can wait all night. Alaric.

Alaric looked around as someone voice echoed around him. At first he didn't understand, but after a few words Alaric realize it wasn't Joushi, but the proctor for this battle. A sigh escape his lips, "I have no desire to kill my opponent. Its rather said they have to say that because others have no problem killing their own classmate. Doesn't mean I wouldn't if I had too, I guess that's why they make that announcement." Alaric was relieved that they wouldn't allow the battle to continue if someone was unable to fight anymore, but the fact reminds that this battle could end in someones death. Alaric eyebrow arched slightly when he heard the women's name, he swore he heard that name from somewhere before from his father most likely, but now wasn't the time to worry about some women origin especially when he had to worry about Joushi. He kept on listening to the proctor's words as it bounced off the mountains and carried through the wind. "I can't recall if I knew that Joushi was a half breed like myself, but it doesn't matter. I don't believe she has the same ability I have, so no reason to ponder on that thought." He looked behind him to figure out where he passed through the barrier, but he couldn't figure out where it was, "Its not like I am going to try to escape, but I do wonder how high the barrier and is it like a dome? Hopefully it's not to dome."

Alaric decided to make his way towards the village. After hearing the fact there was a barrier and even a proctor present at the location then most likely the village was evacuated for the battle. As he made his way down the small mountain he started to look around to see if he could figure out any location his opponent was at or if there was any type of traps, but there was no sign of any traps set or his opponent presence. "So that leave the village area itself," he said to himself. Putting himself into the shoes of a long range fighter he figure the village would be the best place to hide or at least around the area. It was the perfect place to do surprise attacks and even confuse your enemies, but that knowledge was only going off movies and tv shows he has seen.

After a few minutes he was at entrance of the village. As he wander around the village he kept an eye open for anything that seemed off. Even though he had his wind barrier around him he was still wary of an attack, he still had no clue what kind of attack his opponent was going to do first. All he did know was that Joushi was going to be the first to attack, but Alaric didn't have much choice in the matter. He could make a large attack, but that would be a waste of energy sense he had no clue where Joushi and his familiar are located. As Alaric moved deeper it seemed like he arrived at the town square of the village and there he saw a large crystal boulder in the middle. His eyes stared at the boulder, "Looks like some type of decoration or an idol for some god," he said. He avoid going near the boulder since it was in way to open area, but instead kept near the walls as he scouted the area some more. If Joushi was here or near the village in some way, Alaric knew he was going to make his move any minute now.

The woman’s body was circled in snow, her hair danced around within the wind, until a noise reached her inner ear. Kazaki placed her left hand next to her ear and closed her eyes for a second before pushing a small button that was attached to a black rectangle in her ear. ”This is Kaori.” she answered as she was given orders, the woman nodded her head a few times before gaining a smirk. ”Yes; I understand. I’ll handle it.” She said before pressing the button once more then the she took a step forward and removed her sword from its sheath before stabbing it into the ground. The sky soon changed as the light falling snow grew heavy and became a blizzard the woman then placed her hand next to her ear once more and held the button as a high pitch squeak from multiple speakers was sounded in the area. ”This match is over; your exam is being changed both of you have been asked to report to the Exorcist Hall immediately. I just deactivated the barrier, so the blizzard that normally falls upon this village will take over everything soon so I advise you to leave now.” her voice came from all directions, as if she was everywhere. Lowering her hand she turned her back and began to walk away on her own down the mountain path in order to go take care of her own personal business.

• Joushi didn't move, green eyes remaining focused on the village below while instead relying on the sense of Alaric's demonic essence to instead to keep track of the half breed. As expected the Erzengel heir could not keep up the pretense of remaining on the cliff face, standing unprotected, as he was, against the brute of the frozen air and unforgiving terrain. The sounds of crunching ice and shuffling mounds of snow could be heard as Alaric made his treck down to the village, the noise audible in the calm, almost quite and empty air. Alaric, howver, was still remaining out of Joushi's direct sight. Green eyes didn't pick up the lavender haired male until he had reached the bottom, entering the prop village proper. A small trickle of Alaric's voice, the words lost in the distance, as the male spoke to himself. A single, unblinking green eye watched, peering down the scope attached to the top of the sniper rifle's long, cold, black barrel. The magnifying, concave lenses allowed an up-close and personal view of Alaric as he weaved through the buildings, lost from sight, every now and again, but not lost on Joushi's ability to sense his weak aura. Even the smallest of fires could be spotted on a black night, and Alaric's was the lone source of light. Except for Kit's. But even the Byakko's flare of life could be expertly covered from the Dragoon's so-called 'third eye,' if you will. Every step Alaric took, be it hidden behind a wall or rooftop, was tracked by the crosshairs marked by the scope, the long barrel moving smoothly and steadily, eyes of the owl watching the mouse, waiting patiently for the chance. And then it came; Alaric had paused, in perfect sight of the barrel, to regard and speak about the crystaline boulder seated in the center of the village. Or what could be seen of it as snow slowly built up around it. Jou breathed out, slowly, calmly, the heat of the breath warming pale skin, and the muscles in the Dragoon's right hand slowly, finally, began to tense.

"This match is over;" Joushi's right hand stopped, the trigger pulled just shy of igniting the firing mechanism in the Italian made sniper rifle. Jou laid in wait, listening as Kaori continued to speak, explaning, briefly, the change of plans and their new orders. Without hesitation Joushi crawled forward a step and stood up from under the warm, safe cover of the bush, snow falling and breaking from the disturbance. Despite the sudden movement and the light of the half moon, Joushi still remained somewhat camoflaged. Pink hair was hidden under the thick, black scarf and a black, cable knit jumper that blended in with the dark stone of the cliff as well as the shadows from the limited moonlight. White pants and black and white ankle high boots were also being worn by the Beast Charmer. Hung by a single strap that crossed from Joushi's left shoulder, and over a narrow chest, was the rectangular bag containing Joushi's folded down submachine guns. The bag had been used as a cushion between Joushi's torso and the snow, meaning one side was slightly damp, however the water tight material prevented anything on the inside being damaged from the icy ground. In fact, Joushi was completely dry, and warm. In one hand the Dragoon still held the sniper rifle, the long, black, Italian piece of weaponry appearing matt even when catching the moonlight, revealing its metal to have either been dulled through either wear or lack of care, or the sheen had been reduced by a deliberately matt black polish.

With two fingers lifted to pale pink lips, Joushi unleashed a high pitched, but short stab, of a whistle. In immediate reaction the ice boulder moved, shifting and breaking apart, its crystal limbs stretching and growing, spines appearing where it was previously smooth. A humanoid head lengthened and morphed into something repitllian while the neck fractured and cracked, growing new segments in bursts. Huge wings sprouted, large enough to cover a house under each. Rounded front and back limbs turned jagged, sprouting sharp claws that dug deep and smoothly into stone and snow. The Head reached out and a tail grew to counter balance the weight. Joushi jumped forward off the cliff and Kit extended her head further, allowing Joushi a safe and close landing pad. Once perched on the Byakko's head, the demon's clear body began to darken. Ice turned to scales and icicles to spines. Tooth and bone, claw and the senseitive membrane of the wings took over from the ice, turning a rice, deep black, vains of royal purple breaking through and marbelling the scales. The same purple infused itself into the eyes and both demon and master turned to face Alaric.

"You have a choice." Joushi called, already swftly traversing down the large Dragon's leathely sharp spined neck. "Walk or hitchhike with us." Settling at the base of Kit's neck, Jou only allowed a few seconds for Alaric to make up his mind and either accept of deny the offer. Once the half breed had made his decision, or had left it too late, Jou would either wait for Alaric to climb aboard, or pat the Byakko's neck with a solid thump, indicating to go.

Given the clear, Kit raised her wings and crouched her serpentine form, limbs and body curling in on itself. Muscles and tendons pulled tight, Kit sprung, limbs pushing her heavy mass up into the air. The moment she was up as high as her launch would let her, muscles yanked her wings down, causing a huge gust of wind below as her mass was pushed ever higher into the air. Snow was sent into a flurry beneath them, and whole banks fell from rooftops as the whipped up burst of wind was so disturbing. Flying now, Kit's head turned and she steered her body away from the village, heading back down towards the city's Exorcist Hall.
