User ImageNote: Elliot is presently a civilian! This thread is here for review/approval for if/when I manage to get a trainee slot for him!

Name: Elliot Lindstrom
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Facial expression: Serious
Hair: See ref!
Eye color: See ref
Skin color: See ref
Outfit: Mix 'n match (no jacket)

Personality:
Sarcastic, blunt, and lazy, the first impression that most people get of Elliot is that he is just a typical troublesome teenage boy. Although his parents would love for him to go out and make a life for himself, he lacks both the motivation and the desire to leave the comfort of his home. As he sees it, why should he make an effort to work hard when there is really no need to? Truthfully, he is already content enough as is with his slacker lifestyle. Although not rich, he and parents have enough money to comfortably live off of, and that is enough for him.

There are facets of his personality that do not initially shine through, however. Although many of his negative qualities are made immediately obvious, Elliot’s intelligence and sharp perception skills are frequently overlooked. To be fair, it is not something that he goes around flaunting—he honestly doesn’t care if people just think of him as some lazy freeloader—but he is the type of person who is capable of keeping a clear head even in the worst of times. Level-headed, he doesn’t let a lot of things get to him, and thus is usually capable of focusing on what is important rather than allowing himself to get distracted by inconsequential information or his emotions.

What may be frustrating to some is that he is a natural pessimist. No matter what the situation, Elliot tends to look at the most negative possible outcome. On one hand, he can be one hell of a downer and should probably be avoided if one is looking for some positivity, but on the other hand, this means that Elliot goes into situations expecting the worst. As such, he has already considered and planned for any potential drawbacks, which ultimately means that he isn’t as easily caught off guard if things were to go to hell.

For all his bland expressions and his deadpan attitude when interacting with people, Elliot possesses a great deal of compassion and concern for others. Empathetic to a fault, he will frequently go out of his way to spare some of his time or whatever money he has if it means helping another person, particularly due to his belief that people really need to help each other during these times of distress. He is a good listener who is patient and always willing to lend an ear to those who need it, but on the downside, his kindness also makes him a bit of a pushover. He has great difficulty in telling someone no if they need help, especially if it is someone who he considers to be a close friend.

All in all, he is lazy in body, but sharp in mind. While Elliot could very well excel in a number of areas if he were to try, the problem here is actually making him make that effort. As it is, it would take quite a drastic event—a strong push—that would force him onto his feet and acting. What this driving force is has yet to be discovered.

(( OOC Note: Since this is for trainee consideration…! Ultimately, his driving force will be his family. Assuming that Wall Maria does come down, Elliot and his parents will be safe (for now) in their home in Trost, but their business will take a hit. After all, no one really cares about buying flowers when there are more dire consequences to focus on! As such, he and his parents are forced to live off of whatever spare money they had saved up. At some point, Elliot will turn to considering the military + RP with a trainee so he can ask them what the money is like. Then, for the sake of earning extra money for his parents (and because him leaving will be one less mouth to feed), he’d turn to enlisting! What happens after that—in terms of which branch he goes to and so on—will depend on RP!)

History:
Elliot was born and raised in Trost, and is the sole child of Nadia and Alain Lindstrom. Living a rather modest life, the Lindstrom family make just a little more than what is needed to comfortably sustain their daily needs. Their primary source of income comes from the flower store that Elliot’s mother owns, but his father also dabbles in various side jobs to bring in extra money. Despite the fact that he had little desire to interact with customers or work in a flower shop, Elliot was pulled into helping out ever since he was 12, and continues to do so to this day. Of course, his idea of “helping” is really doing as minimal work as possible, but it’s nice to have an extra person in the store sometimes.

When he’s not being forced to work, Elliot is usually off reading by his lonesome. Sometimes he indulges in novels, but for the most part, his preference lies with non-fiction. Although he no longer attends school—his parents had pulled him out so that he could help with the shop—he has taken to self-studying in an effort to catch up. As such, Elliot can frequently be found poring over textbooks that his best friend since childhood—Sebastian—borrows from his younger siblings.

Otherwise, his other hobbies involve hanging out with Sebastian or lazing around. He has also taken to using whatever leftover funds he has remaining at the end of a month to buy canned goods and venture into the poorer areas of Trost. He knows it’s not much and that it does very little in the long run, but it’s Elliot’s weak attempt at doing something to help since the monarchy doesn't seem to be making any sort of effort to assist the numerous people who are struggling to make ends meet.

When it comes to the military as a whole, he's pretty neutral about them. He neither likes nor dislikes the Stationary Guard, and his opinion on the Scouting Legion is generally slightly more positive than others since he does acknowledge that they are trying to find a way to free humanity. However, the Military Police is presently at the bottom of his list--the stories of corruption that apparently run rampant through the branch has caused him to look at them scornfully. Whether his opinions on any of these three branches will ever change has yet to be seen.
