look, im not saying dimmu is great, all im saying is that they have more talent that britney spears, and so deserve more respect.

and they can certainly play better than the pussies in trivium.

now, read this whole thing before you respond - i dont want to contend with someone who only read half of it and misrepresents my argument.

and how did they sell out? i mean, as i said, selling out implies a change in sound to what is popular in mainstream culture. their sound did not undergo a huge change, and it most definitely doesnt sound like nickelback or hawthorne ******** heights. just cuz they sell merchandise doesnt mean they sold out - in fact, the bands usually get very little revenue from album sales, and if they want to make a living playing music they have to sell merchandise and tour extensively. trust me, good black metal bands like satyricon are not making a living on just album sales

im not saying that they are great. im not even saying theyre good black metal. there are a lot of BM bands that are better than dimmu - gorgoroth and satyricon both come to mind. but there are also bands that are worse than dimmu, bands that are actual sellouts - cradle of filth comes to mind.

you guys are portraying dimmu as if they are the scum of the earth, and all i'm saying is that they aren't. you have the right to not like them, but dont go around saying they have no talent when they have infinitely more talent than you hear on the radio these days.
I agree, and I never said they were sellouts, all I say is they are (and for the third time) stupidly popular.

One problem with your agrument, though.

You're comparing Pop Rock to Black Metal. =/ BIG Difference there. Yes, they are better than the stuff on the radio. Me taking a s**t and recording it, is better than the stuff on the radio.

This thread was not about if they sold out, but if they're 'Pop' black metal. And the answer to that is yes.

i don't wanna read this whole thing... so i'll go blind for a bit on the 6 pages and just say this

metal is pop music by definition of "populi"...

so yeah.... metal and pop is practically a redundancy...

i know you weren't meaning to say pop as in the way i said it... but STILL

yeah dude, i know thats what you said, but other people were talking about how they sold out, and so i had to address it. im just tired of people telling me a band that sings about satan has gone mainstream, cuz the mainstream doesnt accept that s**t.

as for "stupidly popular," yeah thats pretty much a matter of opinion. again, i was addressing the people who were calling them sellouts and treated them like they were scum.

Well, People are calling them pop black metal because they sold out. Also, saying they are pop metal is comparing them to pop anyway because there is no such thing as pop metal obviously.
