It was a quaint, pleasant day. If you like days full of sunshine and happiness. The birds twittering, twittering away, with the call of spring raining down from the branches above. This set a grey mood to one soul as he moved through the shadows doing his best to avoid even the smallest of streamer of light that forced its way through the thick branches that covered his path. The teen bore teeth at each bit of warmth that slid down his back as he had not a place to avoid them. He hated this time of season, when the mood was light and airy, it set a foul taste in his mouth and made hunting a meal even worse.
Wolfbane had a purpose, to find the darkest, dankest place to wait out this day until the sun fell past the boarders and he could walk without fear. Fear, that was something he never experience, so it was really the wrong word, but what was the true word that would fit the situation. Blood colored wings flicked in frustration as he wished the night was ever lasting. Quick hooves brought him to the meeting place, where his mother trained her soldiers, wretches he had always thought. Trying to prove themselves worthy, worthy of what? Shaking his head, flame colored tail flicked over his flank. Moving around its edges, those dull grey eyes watched the shadows, not in the mood to bump into anyone, not even family.

Cranium, was patrolling as he had been instructed to. 'Watch for brightly colored stars!' He was told, after all he wasn't much good at anything else. He liked people to think that it would make it that much sweeter when he revealed himself. he was a patient creature. He'd never make this far if he wasn't. As his shift finally closed the brightly colored lyra stallion made his way back to the training grounds to find and catch the next stallion to be on shift.
A bright flash of orange and red caught his eye. Riiiight Mother had had more children with Plamen. Together in their hate and spite of eachother produced more children. The kids had grown too. Cranium would have rolled his eyes if it wouldn't have given him away. What the heck was the brat doing, Skulking in the shadows like that. Any child of Retina knew it was almost impossible to do unless you were one of the children like his lost sisters daughter Lox. Even Lox had trouble hiding with those bright stripes and blue socks. Lox was mostly obsidian in coloration. She had a better chance to hide than that joker. Even if this was the shadow herd and most of the members were nocturnal, watching his half brother he almost pitied him.
"What you doin?" Crain asked in his traditional slurred speech he tilted his head dumbly approaching slowly.

What did it look like he was doing? He was trying not to step into the light. Stopping a moment his stormy colored eyes turned towards his older, half brother. The white cad had been the bane of his mother's... Well, she didn't have much care for the white coated one. Or so was the impression anyways. Tail flicking behind him, Wolfbane's ears turned back at the question that was thrown in his direction.
"What do you think? Trying to get to a nice dark place." Bane spat shaking his head, shades falling over his eyes. "Not everyone lives to walk in the sun, dimwit."
He had little tolerance for his elder brother's dimness. While he felt like it was a ploy, this brother seemed full of them. Bane tried to control whatever emotions were churning within his mind. He refused to show anything, even the distaste that ran down his face like rain water.
"Why not try acting like you know something. Unless you want everyone to believe that you're incapable of doing anything and leave you to the birds."

How silly Wolfbane sounded to him, why show your disdain the light so obviously? If any approached you and a brightly colored lyra hid amongst the shadows would bring into question the rearing of such a star. During an infiltration mission that would raise red flags among most. Unless you were clever enough to play blind. Wolfbane had grey eyes like his other brother Keratoconus. That could potentially work if you were an excellent actor.
Crain 's amber orange eyes looked confused at wolfbane. As he appeared not to understand fully the insults given him. "Crain not stoopid." Crain gave wolf a dim smile "Crain very smart, smart."
Oh how it pained him to do this. He couldn't wait until his charade was over. His mother would praise him. He wanted nothing more than to be her favourite. He did hope too she would send him on a mission somewhere so he didn't have to be so stifled here and he could be himself. Even a fetch mission as pathetically easy as they were. Retina wouldn't trust him with anything more until he did one of those at least.

This half brother made Bane's coat itched with annoyance. It wasn't so much as to who it was, but how he acted. Seriously? They were the only ones in this area, couldn't he act more his age then younger than Bane himself? Rolling his own eyes, Wolfbane's tail flicked behind him to show he wasn't amused.
"Then start acting like it! No one is here. Mother is off with the other Knights. Keep acting like that and I should think you should be back with Tony." His tone a bit on the rough side as he spoke.
He hadn't been with the nanny in some time. Since the first few days after his birth. He hated being there, wasn't so much the other stars. It was just.. Boring. Foal games weren't Bane's strong points and bored him to just about death. Looking his older half brother over, the white coat and bone patterning. Atop that was the flames of the family trade mark.
"Sometimes I think I should just hang out with my niece's bird brained mate. At least he doesn't act outside of his age." He hated to admit it, but Anand has been nothing but helpful, painfully.

Damn, Children were surprisingly perceptive. He'd have to be more careful until the child thought of him like the rest. shouldn't be too long though, children were never children long when it came to this herd. Amused or not, Crain wasn't going to give Wolfbane any change in personality. Crain in all honesty didn't trust him. Wolfbane seemed very loyal to their mother. Crain couldn't' have Wolfbane ruining his surprise. If Crain's display annoyed him all the better. Crain was a patient creature, he had to be in a herd full of backstabbers. Though playing the fool was somewhat painful it made things a lot easier on his end. Things would eventually change.
Despite the insults crain remained unbothered and unchanged as though they had flown over his head. "Crain, No, go, want stay with wolfy!" though he liked Tony's company a lot, she was far too busy for him. especially with his new siblings. "Wolfy nice."
Anand wasn't the most vicious of Shadow members but he did a job that kept him here. Anand was also his niece's plaything/mate. They had yet to have children though, soon he expected there would be more neon brats running around. "Anand nice." crain gave wolf a offset smile. We find dark place yes?" where were they going anyway. oh right to find a dark hole to hide in even though they were neon colored. yeah let's get back to that foolishness.

Wolfbane glared at his half brother, this back really starting to itch with annoyance. With a snort, the teen moved away from Crain as he moved on. He was going to head for his favorite place to be alone, it was dark just how he liked it this time of day. Glancing back with dull grey eyes, he watched Crain as it seemed the older stallion was going to be 'his' shadow.
"Don't you have others things to do? Being an 'Adult' after all, or are you just going to make me itch all day long?" Wolfbane asked looking forward again, his tail flicking slightly.
Passing through a thick clump of bushes, ones that scratched at his sides. It was a relief to what ailed him, to a point, but that ever looming shadow made it not so nice. On the other side of the bushes was a small sheltered clearing out of prying eyes of the herd, but still within its borders, really well within. It wasn't too far from where Tony lived and watched over the younger foals of the herd.
"You still there? Brother?" Wolfbane almost spat out as he barely even looked over his shoulder to see if Crain had followed him completely. In a way he hoped not, another side of him hoped so. Somehow he wanted to crack that hard shell of a nutcase and see what Crain really thought of things of the herd.

Cranium looked at Wolfbane confused like he didn't understand what he meant. "Adult? what is adult?" Of course Cranium could understand everything wolf was saying. But he enjoyed when others underestimated him because he would destroy all of those fools easily latter.. much much latter.
"Where wolf go?" Cranium looked around seemingly confused when the brightly colored foal snuck into the bushes. Crain still followed but on the outside of the bush. Crain made a small mental note of where his brother slipped off to as he flawlessly pretended he's lost him. That was at least until he heard the foal's voise. he stuck his head through the bushes and forced himself through popping up suddenly beside wolf.
"There wolfie is! You is good at hide-seek."

When Wolfbane hadn't seen his brother behind him, he had thought he had lost the idiot. Shaking his head his glasses falling over his eyes before using a wing to try and put them back into place. Honestly, he wasn't the least bit sad that he hadn't been followed. It was a relief, perhaps his faint headache would go away now? The leaves rustled off to one side as his half brother leaped out of no where.
Wolfbane turned quick, raising his hind legs to strike out at his brother in surprise. He was never one for being snuck-up upon, he down right hated it and most got a surprise of their own. Thankfully this time he missed striking a tree near Crain instead. When he was back to all fours on the ground, Wolfbane turned and looked at Crain ruefully.
"Don't do that, ever again. Next time I won't miss." He all but growled at Crain turning away again and heading deeper into the clearing to a rock face that hosted a few caves. It was here that Wolfbane entered one and vanished into its depths.
