Cooper was born behind Wall Rose and even as a child he was quiet. He never liked being loud or being around loud noises so he tended to alienate himself from everyone else. This caused him to get bullied a lot and at the time he didn't have a backbone. He joined the army at a young age lying about his true age. Though he's not too fond of the military he wanted to grow a back bone as well as help Humanity out. He met Zoro Bakuro at training camp. At first, Cooper didn't like this obnoxious trainee but soon befriended the guy when they both discovered their enjoyment out of watching girls. Zoro is Cooper's first real friend and because of that looks up to Zoro as a role model. He wishes he could be like Zoro in a few ways however he knows that that cheeky bast*rd isn't the perfect role model.
