Edward woke up in a tangled ball of sheets. he gasped as he struggled to get free, ripping the cloth in his fear induced hast. he fell off the bed and quickly scrambled back until he hit the wall where he curled up, his knees drawing up to his chin where he stayed, shivering from the cold sweat that covered his body. he dropped his head and held onto his legs, waiting for the panic attack and fear to fade. he must have fallen back asleep, because it was light out when he woke to the sound of an alarm down the hall.
Edward lifted his head and looked at the door, confused. he wasn't sure where he was, his mind hazy with sleep and nightmares. it wasn't until several minutes later that Edward fully woke and remembered. he was in his home. he was back in America and there wasn't some Arab outside of his door, waiting to hurt him. the worst part was remembering they were dead. all of them were dead and Edward dropped his head once more, crying into his knees as grief and guilt consumed him once more. he finally wiped his eyes and made himself get up. he needed to shower and get ready for school. life goes on, even with the dead weighing it down. he showered and dressed before heading down to the kitchen.
he wouldn't be able to eat, but he wanted some coffee and maybe dry toast. he stopped when he reached the kitchen, his eyes on the lanky and rather fluffy dog that was crunching away at a mix of cereal and dog food. Shiloh was eating in the dining room and Edward shook his head. of his two renters, Shiloh would be the one to bring in a dog without asking permission. he made his coffee and toast and sat down across from the blonde, "pet deposit's $200, $50 of that is non-refundable." that was all he was going to say. Edward liked dogs, he just didn't like surprise dogs.

Kyran had forgotten to turn off his alarm, it going off far earlier than he liked. he groaned a little and went back to sleep, waking up half an hour later fully awake now. he yawned and got up, not bothering to shower or change as he head down for breakfast. last night had been fun. Shiloh showed him how to cheat at poker, but he tried to figure out how to do it without cheating and was starting to get better. he wanted to play him again, or maybe one of the others that didn't cheat, and get better. or maybe he should learn another game to play with Shiloh. he stopped inside of the kitchen, his eyes wide. there was a dog. a really soft looking dog, but a dog all the same.
"hello, there," he said softly, holding out his hand a little shakily. the only dogs he'd ever been around were guard dogs and they either attacked on sight or would sniff you, growl, and ignore you as a non-threat. he was ready to run if this one turned out to be in the first category.
