UGH! "H-hey! Ladies would choose me over some robot like you any da--" Joe's declaration was cut short by a shriek from the other side of the street.
"EEEE IT'S PROTOMAN!!" a feminine voice squealed. Summoned by the squeal, a small crowd of female audio appeared and swarmed across the street to surround the General. Apparently some citizens really did support Wily's system or maybe they were just random robot fangirls.

Proto -would- have smirked smugly at Joe's comment. Yeah, sure, they were just swarming you weren't they? That's why they allllll came to see him instead, hrm?
But no, he was busy looking extremely uncomfortable at the sudden close quarters he found himself in. The General grimaced, forcing himself not to instinctively reach for the shield on his back. No...no, can't smack the Citizens away.
As much as he wanted to.
Proto's tail lashed behind him, an obvious sign of distress...but he was going to do his best to deal with this. It sucked.
"...Greetings."
His metallic voice was terse, and he was slowly forcing that grimace into a smirk.

"OMG he talked to me!" "Did not! He was talking to me!" "Forget it, girls, he's mine!" "Well I saw him first!" The fangirls began yelling at each other, fighting for the right to reply to the General.
Joe gaped at the swarm of girls fawning over Proto. No way! Why would they choose that guy?? Maybe they just hadn't noticed him yet. Yeah! That must be it! Sidling up to one, he grinned beneath the helmet. 'Hey babe!"

-Why- did they all want to talk to him?! He was not a social robot! Not at all! Messing with Joe was about the extent of his friendliness these days. The General was....getting better at it...
But still.
"...I was talking to -all- of you..it was a generic greeting."
Really now...
The fangirl that Joe had sidled up to cast him a rather...disgusted glance. Ugh, just one of those sniper bots. Who cared about that lot?
"Sorry, not interested. Can't you see I'm trying to talk to the General here?"
Proto cast a glance over. Hrm...he could continue to rub it in Joe's face that he really -wasn't- popular....but that would require dealing with these ladies. He didn't want that. Not at all.
"...Hey. He's my friend, should be nice to the guy."
The red bot pushed free from the crowd of girls, moving over to stand next to Joe instead.

"But.." Joe deflated a bit. Well it was better than a slap to the face, he thought optimistically. But how come he never got more than those two words out before they denied him? Maybe he should have gotten that pick up lines book he saw at the store. Defeated, he turned to head back towards his motorcycle when Proto made his way through the crowd towards him. "Huh?" Was the guy coming to gloat?
The girls quickly reformed around the pair, grudgingly accepting Joe's existence. "Can I have your autograph?" "Hi~" "OMG I LOVE YOU, PROTOMAN SCREEE!'

THIS WAS RIDICULOUS.
Why the hell were these Citizens swarming him?! It was SO UNCOMFORTABLE. He was starting to get rather...twitchy. He needed to find a way to get some -space- and fast.
"....Ladies...what would make me -really- happy is if you spared a moment of time to talk to my friend here."
Surely they'd listen and start talking to Joe instead, right? Anything to please the good General Proto!

Wha?? The helmet must be messing with his ears. Proto was trying to pass off the girls to him?? This guy....Joe could almost consider being his friend.
Well if it would make Proto like them more... The girls turned their attention to Joe. "What is the General's favorite color?" "What does he like to eat?" "So how does it feel hanging out with a super cool guy like him?"

The color red, E-tanks, and he was sure he was pretty amazing to hang around. But....well it wasn't Proto that had to give the answers, so good luck there Joe.
No, in fact, Proto was only hanging around long enough for the girl's attention to hopefully be drawn away. Then he was going to slink out of here and head back to the Tower. Sorry Joe....not that he figured Joe would mind much.
Or cared if Joe did or not.

Figures they would ask questions about Protoman but Joe decided to enjoy the attention anyway. "Ladies! Ladies! Calm down. There's plenty of Joe to go around~." He ignored their rolling eyes and continued, turning the topic back to Proto to keep their interest. "Well it's never dull. In fact just the other day we took on a whole platoon of robo-- I mean er...rebels by ourselves." The audio's tail wagged excitedly as he regaled the girls with made up adventures he and the general had gone on. He didn't notice or care as the general himself made a stealthy escape.

Yeah yeah, enjoy your attention while it lasted Joe. Soon enough Proto had made his escape, and by now he was likely lounging up in his room.
"Heeeeey.....the General is gone!"
One of the girls gave a sad whine, sighed, eyed Joe....considered it for a moment....
And then walked off.

Joe let out a small sigh as the crowd of girls slowly dissipated. But hey! That last one had looked like she was considering staying. That was something, right? Just wait till those girls found out that he was going to be the hero of the revolution! Yeah! The young audio walked off with a flick of his tail, dreaming of the future that he was certain would one day come.
