It had taken Hiana weeks to track down her brother since the...incident. The last time she had seen her mother alive. She couldn't believe that it had been so long since that had happened. The guilt inside her seemed to be eating her alive. She had to talk to Neculai, she just had to know...had they done the right thing? Or not?
"Neculai," she called out, seeing him in the distance. His fur was matted and dirtied, his mane unkept and messy. He looked about as bad as she felt.
He flinched and glanced up at her call, squinting at her in the sunlight. His eyes were dry and reddish; they looked sore. It took him a moment to recognise her, but when he did, a look of rage fell across his face, darkening his features and twisting them into an ugly expression that she had never seen before in her life.
"What are you doing here?" He roared, rising to his feet but almost falling. His legs looked shaky and weak, but his rage was intense.
Hiana flinched backwards at his rage, hesitating but she had to know. She stepped closer slowly, cautiously. "Brother," she tried to appease him, calm him down but the reminder of their relationship seemed only to enrage him further.
"Do not talk to me!" He yelled, stepping backwards; his back leg fell into the water behind him, slipping and wetting his fur. "You do not have the right to talk to me!" He roared.
Hiana was baffled, staring at him with wide eyes and anxiety. "But Brother...what did I do?" She begged, trying to move closer to him. "Tell me, please! What did I do wrong? You have to-"
" I don't have to do anything for you, murderer!" He bellowed, the water reaching his waist in his attempt to avoid her.
"M-murderer?" Hiana stammered, wide-eyed. "Me? I didn't do anything! Please, brother-"
"DO NOT COME NEAR ME!"
Hiana whimpered. "Please...I need your help..."
"Just go away!" He swiped his paws at her, claws extended and mouth pulled back in a growl. She flinched but he was too far away for his swipe to make contact, so she didn't fear for her safety.
A new voice broke through the growls though, and startled Hiana. "I don't know what happened between you two but one must never threaten a lady!"
She glanced towards the intruder, surprised to find a large, white male with a full mane and armor pinned to him by vines stalking towards them. His eyes were narrowed in annoyance, and after a few moments he had planted himself firmly between Hiana and Neculai.
"This is none of your business," Neculai growled furiously, his eyes narrowed in anger. "Leave!"
"You are threatening a young lady, that makes this my business."

Diya'ali x Kazuki : It's time to go a'viking!

Diya wasn't thrilled at being back out in the rogue lands. He had fought his way into the pride, and now he was back in the familiar empty wastelands that he called the rogue lands. It was...not preferably. He didn't want to be here, he would much rather be back with the others, back in the pride, but if he wanted to prove himself, he must prove himself as a reaver. Staying Freeborn was simply not a possibly.

The rest of the band was somewhere else, Diya separated himself out in the hunt for something more intriguing.

What should he bring back? A thrall? Some pelts? Some treasure? The rogue lands was open to him, waiting for him to take what he wanted.

The pale coloured cheetah was bouncing as she walked, kicking her back paws and cheerfully moving. She was rarely serious, but today she was even less so. She was having fun, what was wrong with that? She was allowed to have fun!

She was grinning to herself, unaware of her surroundings.

He easily spotted her, after all, it wasn't like she was trying to hide. It seemed like she was trying to get attention instead. Weird. Still, it was practically like she was falling into his grasp, and he wasn't about to analyse the situation too closely.

First viking and he would bring home a thrall? That would show them. He dug his claws into the ground below him, shoulders stretching in preparation. He threw himself towards his chosen victim with deadly accuracy, aiming to knock her off her paws.

As a small, slender cheetah, it wasn't hard to knock her over. Not to mention, she was barely paying attention and so he caught her completely off guard. She hit the ground beneath him with a heavy 'oomph' noise and the air rushed out of her.

She gazed, wide-eyed up at him.

It took her a moment to get her breath back but when she did, her first words were. "Not fair! I didn't know we were playing! Start again! I'm it this time!"

He stared down at her, expression puzzled as he tried to comprehend her words. He growled, the sound low and rumbling as it vibrated them both practically.

"This is not a game," he snarled, a deadly sound, and his fanged mouth was worryingly close to her face.

She seemed completely unconcerned, however and rolled her eyes up at him. "Yes it is." She pawed at him, trying to get him to roll off of her but he refused to budge. She looked frustrated. "Move, silly, or we can't play!"

"This is not a game," he snarled, his claws coming out either side of her head, his teeth bared. "You are my thrall now, and I will be taking you back to my pride with me. You will be of use to our pride."

Kazuki forrowed her brows and looked baffled. "I don't know this game, silly! You have to explain the rules before jumping into a new game. I mean, really! It's like you've never played before."

"How many times do I have to tell you, this is not a game. I am a warrior, out on a viking, and I am claiming you as my thrall! My prize!"

Kazuki squinted at him in complete silence for a moment. "...So we're playing knights and damsels? I don't get it, who's supposed to come and rescue me, there's only two of us. You have not thought this game through properly, really. I don't even understand why you think it's a good idea to play it. It's a horrible plan."

Diya felt like smacking his head against a very large, very firm rock. How was she not getting this? It was like she was stupid! He didn't want a stupid thrall. If he wanted one of those, he'd just get some hybrid or something.

He scoffed, and stepped off of her. "Forget it! You will be of no use to anyone!" She would probably mess up even the simplest task. He would be a laughing stock if he took her back to be his thrall! She would do nothing to improve his reputation, or, heaven forbid, his standing in the pride.

Kazuki rose to her paws in a rather smooth and graceful movement, glancing at him with a pout. "But I still want to play! You just have to explain it to me." She flicked her tail behind her playfully, her smile cracking through her pout and transforming her face to the image of pure innocence and joy. She would have fluttered her eyes at him, but that was perhaps too much. He did look semi-murderous already.

'"This is not a game," he roared at her, and she flinched. Woah. Major anger issues, she thought to herself. Not a good playmate!

"Gosh, no need to get stroppy!" She shot back grumpily, her smile and pout disappearing into a sulky look of agitation. "I don't want to play with you anymore! Good day!" She shot him a disappointed look and began to flounce off.

Diya contemplated chasing after her, and forcing her back to the pride, but heaven help them if that pathetic excuse for a female found her way to the pride. She'd be dead within hours, irritating everyone to the point of murder.

"What is the problem with girls," Diya lamented to himself, utterly baffled as he made his way back to the band, empty handed for now but determined to find some bounty to take back with him.

Kazuki giggled to herself as she legged it away from the seemingly dangerous lion. He had been significantly bigger than her, and if he had forced it, she would have no choice but follow him back to whatever pride he called home. She did not want to give up her freedom, not now and not ever.

She wasn't stupid, but people found it hard to attack stupid people, she had found, and playing innocent had no failed her yet! She grinned. Boys were so dumb.

The fragile looking lioness hesitated; her posture tentative and her expression cautious. It was a strange thing making her hesitate - it wasn't a strong male, it wasn't a ruthless hyena, it was...a cheetah. A female, pale like herself, pastel colours coating her lower body in appealing shades. The cheetah was perched on a long overhanging the watering hole, gazing into the water with a look of joy.
Star shouldn't have been afraid of the female, but she was still...worried. What if appearances were deceiving? That was often the case in these crazy lands! She still wasn't quite used to the rogue lands, despite having grown up in them before being claimed by the young Anwar to join him in his harem.
Still, she couldn't be afraid forever, surely. She steeled her nerve and moved forward towards the watering hole, cautious and quiet in her steps. As she came closer, she opened her mouth, a small "hi" coming out before a scream soon followed.
Out of the water, the snapping jaws of a crocodile sprung forth, aiming for the cheetah. The female cheetah was just out of reach though, and proceeded to do something utterly crazy - the cheetah laughed. A light, carefree, joyous sound that appeared to be completely uneffected by the near brush with death and the terrifying scene that she had forced a random stranger to witness.
The cheetah, eyes dancing, raised herself up on the log and turned towards Star with a bright grin.
"Howdy Stranger!" She greeted cheerfully.

Talk of Family

Dysi was babysitting, again, wanting to give Sukanya a break from all of the cubs swarming her. To be fair, he didn't want to take all of the cubs, but taking one off her paws surely helped a little? Ishara was a bit of a handful sometimes, and he knew that Sukanya worried for the only girl in the litter. She'd get all boyish around the males, so needed a feminine influence, and so that's where Dysi came in.
"Flower chains are stupid," Ishara remarked but had a look of utter concentration on her face as she worked at threading the stems through one another. Dysi grinned to himself, making himself one as well while he waited for her to finish hers.
"Are they?" He asked, curious but amused. "Why's that?"
"They don't have a purpose," she pointed out. "They're just...there..."
"They do have a purpose," he corrected her lightly. "They're there to make you look even more dazzling and beautiful and attract some lucky boys attention."
The result was instantaneous. Ishara's noise crinkled up and a look of disgust came across her face. "Ew! Boys are gross!" Especially the wild boy who tried to maul her. He was a jerk. She knew that Dysi told her not to judge him, he had just been scared but Ishara could and would judge him. He was a jerk.
"You won't always think that," he warned but didn't continue to tease her, because something else had caught his eye. A figure in the distance, approaching them. He tensed, cautious, until the figure came into view. Oh, it was a wild dog. A purple wild dog - female it looked like.
Dysi smiled, and waiting, knowing the female would stumble upon them soon.
Sure enough, she almost walked straight over them, seemingly lost in her own world.
"Oh! I'm sorry," she gasped, stopping before she barelled into their crown making. "I didn't even see you there."
Ishara stared at her, with a look of interest on her face. She had never met a wild dog before. Interesting! Dysi, however, was nothing less than his usual charming self. He smiled warmly at her, and waved away her concern. "Not a worry at all, my dear! No harm done! You seemed awfully lost in your own world there."
The dog looked embaressed and nodded. "I shouldn't do it so often, I could hurt someone...or myself." She shook her head, and glanced at the pair. "I'm sorry to interrupt your time!"
"Again, not an issue!" Dysi again dismissed her concern. "Would you like to join us? Ishissioara won't say anything but she's never met a wild dog before, I'm sure she has lots of questions to ask." He motioned to the young leopon, who shot him a dirty look but looked embaressedly eager at the female.
The wild dog hesitated, but smiled at the cub. "I suppose I can stay for a while," she agreed lightly. Dysi motioned for her to join them in them semi circle, and she did so.
"My name is Dysi and this is my...niece, Ishara," he explained, giving her the name of niece, because it was easier to explain. Sukanya was close to him, but not like a sister, as she had been his first love, but her cubs were family to Dysi.
"My name is Kaneika," the wild dog introduced herself, bobbing her head in a slight bow of respect. "What are you guys doing out here?" She asked, looking down at the mess of flowers all around them.
"Making flower crowns," Dysi explained but was cut off by Ishara's questions finally bursting forth.
"Don't you find it weird not having a dexterous tail?" She demanded and Kaneika looked rather stunned, and blinked. She hesitated for a moment, before responding.
"I don't really think about it too much. My tail is practical for what I need."
"Do you find it hard since you can't climb trees to find vantage points?" She asked again, without stopping for breath.
"I just find a rock." Kaneika looked at Dysi, who just smiled apologetically and shrugged slightly. Ishara was a cub on a mission, and that mission was to understand everything, the poor wild dog was just an unfortunate casualty.
"You get used to it," Dysi assured Kaneika lightly as Ishara continued to ramble, without the adults truly paying attention to it.
"Do you?" Kaneika looked a bit concerned. "Are all pups..cubs like this?"
"Some are like this," he agreed. "Some are quite different." Kaneika looked relieved at that comment, but she greened a little when Dysi continued. "Some are worse." Dysi laughed at her worried expression. "I am assuming that you don't have pups of your own?"
"No, I have not been so blessed," she admitted, and glanced at the rambling leopon cub. "I want a family though. I want it a lot."
"Families are magnificent things," Dysi encouraged lightly. "My family is quite...large." An understatement if ever there was one. "Which means its loud and complicated, but I wouldn't trade them for anything. It's different when they are your own, you'd forgive them anything."
"Do the questions get...less annoying?" She asked, cautiously as she didn't want to insult the male's niece.
He laughed loudly, startling Ishara and making her pout, realising that no one was paying attention to her now. "No," Dysi denied. "No, they are still annoying no matter if they're yours or not."
Ishara threw a flower at Dysi. "Hey, pay attention to me!" She huffed, and waited until the adults refocused on her.
"Now, as I was saying," she said, quite dramatically. "What is your opinion on water? Ok? Bad? Horrifying and messes up your fur?" She demanded of Kaneika.
"I suppose I'll just have to get used to it," Kaneika murmured to Dysi before refocusing on the sassy leopon who as scowling at her for not answering straight away. "Uh, water is ok. I like it, it's good fun for swimming in."
Ishara paused to contemplate the answer, and Kaneika shared a look with Dysi. Dysi's look was fond and a bit exasperated, where as Kaneika's was slightly panicked but seeking reassurance.
"Alright. This one is really important, so listen closely. What is your opinion on daisies?"

Eva was determined now that she would, soon, leave the group that she had joined. She was so certain of it that she was already preparing Aynashi for her inevitable departure, planting little ideas in the female cheetahs head so she would not be quite as shocked when it came time for Eva to make tracks. She was sure that the cheetah hadn't even noticed yet, but Nyata and L'aiime had. Nyata, thankfully, respected the leopardess' decision enough not to question her on it.

L'aiime was not so inclined.

The golden eagle followed the young leopard as she split from the group, going off on a walk in the falling darkness with the simple words 'I need to clear my head'. Nyata had kept Aynashi from following, mostly out of concern for the young cheetah's safety rather than respecting Eva's privacy. Ning had, of course, stayed with Nyata. L'aiime hadn't even pretended not to follow. Instead, she flew directly above Eva, completely silent, until they reached the nearby watering hole that they were staying near.

"You're leaving, aren't you?" The bird demanded, and Eva sighed.

"I think I have to," Eva pointed out, and L'aiime bristled.

"No you don't, you don't have to leave at all! It's not like we are chasing you out, or we're forcing you to leave. You are always welcome here!"

Eva quietened the bird by gently placing a paw atop the grounded bird's head, brushing her feathers with a gentle paw that should - had it not been for emotional attachments - have crushed the gentle creature beneath it. Rather, it stroked, trying to soothe.

"I know you're not kicking me out, L'aiime," Eva assured. "I think I have to leave because of me."

L'aiime narrowed her eyes. "Does this have something to do with that couple we met?"

Eva rolled her eyes, and shrugged. "Maybe. A little, but not really. They just told me what I already knew. I can't stay 'comfortable' for the rest of my life. I'll die of boredom. I need to push the limits, see where life takes me. I can't stay here and just...survive, I want to live." She smiled at the bird. "Do you understand?"

The avian looked frustrated but nodded, and the pair sat in silence for a few moments, though L'aiime was clearly still annoyed.

It was, perhaps, the absolute worst time for the pale stranger to approach them for a second time. The leopard, pale white and speckled with light colours, appraoched with a broad smile and a friendly greeting.

"Hello old friends! We meet again!" He was without his companion this time, but he seemed just as cheerful as he had been the day they had met him. Unfortunately for him, L'aiime was not in the same cheerful mood.

"You!" She shrieked in annoyance, fluttering to the sky and appearing right in his face, a look of motherly disapproval surrounding her entire face. "You! You put these ideas in her head! If she gets hurt, it will be on your head."

Dysi flinched backwards, eyes wide and mouth open. "I... uh... have I missed something?"

Eva flushed in embarrassment and tried to pull the eagle back away from him by her tail feathers but L'aiime resisted. "She's just be dramatic! Sorry! It's not your fault at all!"

"Yes it is, don't lie to him. He and his companion put ideas of needing to be lonely in your head and now you're leaving us!" L'aiime protested but allowed Eva to pull her away from the male's face, resisting the urge to scratch him in annoyance. However, her talons were very sharp and that would be cruel. He had not done enough to warrant her wrath... just yet. If Eva got hurt because of his ideas, then she would unleash her full fury on him.

She might be a small avian, but if one of her chicks (and Eva was an adopted chick now) was hurt, she would claw and gouge with the best warriors.

Dysi was looking confused but a look of realisation was slowly dawning on his face. "Is this about what Ghasia said of her son?" He asked, suspicious that perhaps the female took her words out of context. "Ghasia was concerned about Ashki because he has never really experienced life outside of family, my dear. Considering that you are on your own - despite your group of travel companions - I doubt that concern could be applied to you." He watched her carefully. "It is fine if you want to explore, but don't' forgo friendships simply to prove a point. Life is not a checklist, you don't have to be lonely to cross it off your list. Live it how you want to live it, whether that is with companions or on an adventure on your own."

Eva stared down at her paws, silent.

L'aiime frowned at the male leopard. "Stop putting ideas in her head!"

Dysi grinned, and ducked his head, apologetic. "I'm sorry my dear, but she is young. There are a million ideas in her head and, while you can provide guidance, there is nothing to stop a stubborn youth from deciding exactly how she wants to decide. All you can do is let her be." He understood L'aiime's concerns, he had them of his own children, but he had learnt to let them go, else they would not live life to its fullest.

"How do I know what I should do?" Eva spoke up, drawing both leopard and avian's attention.

"It's not what you should do-" Dysi started, but L'aiime interrupted.

"It's what you want to do, Eva," she continued, landing on Eva's back and grooming some fur. "There are no shoulds in life, only wants and needs."

"What if I want to leave?" Eva asked, cautiously, and sounding mildly afraid of the answer. L'aiime flinched but hid the movement from the young leopard.

"Then we won't stop you," the gold bird said softly. "But know you are always, always welcome to come home." Home. Eva hadn't thought of home for a while, content with her 'new family' but somehow anxious to keep moving. She was her father's daughter, after all, it seemed.

Dysi watched the duo, smiling slightly and feeling a little like he was intruding. "There is no time limit to this," he pointed out. "A week, a month, a year, you can travel as long as you want, as long as your paws are itchy. It doesn't have to be a forever thing." It certainly hadn't been for him. He had thought that he would never settle, but he had settled with his mate, and while his paws itched and he traveled some, he was a different leopard than he had been years ago. He was content with one place, as long as that one place had Maleficar in it.

Eva nodded, understanding what Dysi was getting it. "I suppose I already travel with you guys anyway," she noted. Nyata kept the group moving, afraid that if they stayed still too long, set up a home, they would be more vulnerable to attacks. As the only 'muscle' behind the group, Nyata was often afraid that she would not be enough for the group, and so took extra precuations. They didn't travel far, but Eva couldn't remember a time where they had stayed more than two nights in a location since she had joined the group.

"You can travel with us," L'aiime encouraged. "We won't cramp your style, and you can wander how you like. Just...it'd be safer for you, and for us, and you can be as lonely as you like - but still have us here to soothe that loneliness."

Eva had to admit, it sounded very tempting. She glanced at the avian, and smiled. "Ok."

It took L'aiime a moment to process what the leopardess said, but when she did, she fluttered in excitement, squawking a noise of pure delight. "You won't regret it, Eva dear!" She assured her, and Dysi grinned off to the side, happy for a happy ending to the saga.

Also, he couldn't deny also that he was relieved that he wasn't going to get his eyes gouged out by a protective mamabird for convincing her offspring to leave the nest.

Another good deed!

User ImageDiya wasn't entirely sure how he got stuck in a band with this idiot, again. His head still throbbed from his last encounter with this delightfully stupid male. He still couldn't quite believe that this male had gotten the jump on him and won a battle. Still, maybe the male had some hidden fighting talent hidden behind all of his cheerfulness and his horrid singing.

Liran hit a particularly high note in his song and Diya cringed. Nope, maybe he was just an idiot. He was entirely unsurprising by the fact the rest of the band had subsequently ditched the two of them. They were essentially on their own now, and Diya took a moment to ponder just killing the male and being done with it all.

Ugh, people would probably suspect him though. He didn't want to make waves in the pride yet. He hadn't gotten his footing yet. Sadly, the male would live.

Quote:

User ImageLiran was super excited. He couldn't believe it, he was on his first viking! He was gonna be a Reaver and kick some butt! He grinned, wiggling as he walked, his song rather loud and obnoxious now, but he didn't care. For all he knew, his companion was utterly entranced in his song, and he wouldn't dare stop, just in case the male just grumpy. Also, he didn't want to stop.

Nothing could stop him now, after all!

"I am gonna be the best! Man, I am gonna be awesome! I am'a'viking!" he bellowed out, his voice vibrating in the silence that surrounded the pair. Most would have described the silence as 'awkward' before the song started, but Liran was sure that he and his new friend Diya were best buddies.

Quote:

User ImageDolc'eva had left her makeshift group for a while, striking out on her own but knowing that L'aiime would find her should she be away for too long. It was a safety net, and the young leopardess appreciated it. She wanted to strike out on her own, but...well, she didn't want anything bad to happen after all.

The silence had been rather shattered by the song in the distance though, and Eva found herself drawn to the singing. It wasn't a bad singing voice but the lyrics were weird. What on earth was a 'viking'? She frowned and moved forward, unknowingly putting herself in the gaze of the blue male who was on the lookout for thralls.

What better thrall was there than an unsuspecting leopard, after all?
