He looked around. Now, if I were gonna hide and egg.. he thought. Where would I do it? Maybe he could think this through instead of running around looking.

Hmmm.. A big pile of ashes might hide an egg. he thought, deciding to check the hearth. Only.. apparently he was too lazy, so he sent Nimbus to do it instead.

Nimbus landed on the hearth, nuzzling around the ashes with his nose.

Hmmm.. no eggs in here. he thought, sending the ashes flying with a powerful snort. Where else to look?

Try the seat cushions. he suggested, with a mental image rather than words. Oh yes, the cushions. Good idea! Nimbus thought, fluttering over at once.

Nimbus flew from seat to seat, pulling up the cushions with his claws. Perhaps there was an egg underneath?

Nimbus continued down the line of seats, straining his wings as he lifted the cushions off the chairs to check for eggs.

Only a few more seats left, and they were well and truly running out of places to look. Nimbus perched on the back of a chair, resting, while he peeked behind it.

Feeling bad for his lizard, Rowan finally decided to stop being lazy and got up to help look, this time feeling down the sides of the chairs for any small eggs that might've gotten lost there.
Sure enough, his finger touched on something hard and smooth. Gently, he reached in and pulled out Egg 9. He called Nimbus over to his shoulder. There. Let's go return this to its mother..
