Mayumi has tried to bring a little of home to the city with her, with
liberal use of glass and mirrors, as well as sweeping panoramas and wide open
spaces reminiscent of her crystal castle in Inoue. She lives here with her Knight,
Eradon Slade. There are rooms for each of them, and a large space enough for
entertaining, or just lounging around.

Eradon Slade

"Disease, insanity, and death were the angels that attended my cradle,..."

Eradon was walking through the apartment building's hallway counting the doors to his and his Noble's apartment. When he made it there he took his key and placed it in the lock unlocking it and headed inside, pushing the door with his foot so it would close. When that was done he took a look around. Not bad. he thought. Not a huge fan of open spaces, but who am I to complain at least I'll be able to see the night life from up here. He then headed into his room placing his bag down onto his bed. After that he headed back into the living and headed outside onto the balcony listening to the city noises. He smiled softly as he sat down to relax as he waited for his noble.

"...and since then have followed me throughout my life."

She came waltzing out of the bedroom at the sound of Eradon's footsteps - the boy held no secrets from her, and besides, Mayumi could just feel his presence. Now that she looked - really looked, she supposed he was rather attractive. That brought a sly smile to her lips. Good, good. It wouldn't do for someone like herself to have anything but the best, be it in terms of material possessions....or human possessions.
Mayumi was glad he was back from the excursion sooner than most. Nothing like a loyal dog to come running back to its mistress. In addition to that, she'd been rather bored in the past week or so. Lazing around the apartment had provided temporary relief from boredom, but she'd had to resort to dropping little shards of crystal while people-watching on the balcony. Needless to say, it was only fun one someone got hit, and even then, they were too far away for confrontation. Yes, it was good to have Eradon back.
She sat down on the couch and crossed her legs, only realising that she was still in her silken bathrobe when the cold air from the open balcony hit her bare legs. A good deal of thigh peeked out from the thin fabric. Unperturbed, Mayumi rearranged her long, just-blown-out locks over her left shoulder so she could lay her head on the seated figure's shoulder.
                                                  "I missed you, Eradon."
She laid a light, mocking kiss on his cheek and snuggled up, draping a bare leg over his lap. He wasn't worth her affection - no one was, but even so, he did make a decent hot-water bottle.

Eradon Slade

"Disease, insanity, and death were the angels that attended my cradle,..."

Eradon sat and watched the city underneath and just sighed softly. He could hear his noble Mayumi waltzing out of her bed room like she always did when he returned. He smiled softly knowing very well she had been bored since her little toy wasn't here to entertain her. And by toy he meant himself. He knew what he was to her, no matter how she acted in public or private. Through this Eradon was so lost in thought that he hadn't even turned around to address Mayumi, knowing full well that she was there near by til she laid her head on his shoulder. He turned slightly hearing her words and felt the mocking kiss that she planted onto his cheek. As she snuggled up closer to him and placed her bare leg onto his lap he spoke softly as he began drumming his fingers lightly onto her bare leg as if playing an imaginary piano. "Did you really miss me Mayumi, or just the entertainment I provide for you?" he asked, not looking at her since his mind was focused on something or really someone else at the moment. His eyes seemed glassy in the reflection of the sun, probably because he hadn't drank her blood in awhile. He didn't know what her blood was doing to him, but he enjoyed it, almost like a drug, even if it did take most of his free will and mind he was willing to pay that price for it. He smiled to himself as he finished his little song and looked to her hoping to hear her answer his question.

"...and since then have followed me throughout my life."

She giggled as he drummed his fingers on her leg, bare skin on skin, seeming almost girlish and innocent for a while. Mayumi closed her eyes briefly, not quite falling asleep, but enjoying the pleasant evening sounds around her, and feeling the warmth radiate from the assassin. A small smile grew on her face when she heard Eradon's question - she supposed she did have to give him credit for seeing so completely through her question like that. After all, the two did know each other quite a bit, all the habits and tendencies and motivations, the intricacies of a daily life shared.
"Yes, Eradon," her voice was almost a purr, "I was terribly bored without you. You are quite entertaining."
Assuming he knew her, and Eradon did, he would realise that was quite high praise that she'd just given. It wasn't uncommon for Mayumi to order someone maimed, killed, injured or sent away from her sight upon first glance.
"And what about you?" she teased, in return, "did you miss me?"
Staring into his eyes gave her some semblance of an answer. They were glassy and unfocused - an addict's eyes. He came just the way she liked them, helplessly tethered on a tenuous line. With a little flick of her pristine hair over the back of the seat, Mayumi lifted her head and lay her palm flat in the air. A glimmering mist settled over the pale skin and clusters of crystals grew, forming a handle, then a blade. She picked up Eradon's hand, stared at it wonderingly, then made a sharp, precise slit on his index finger. She then licked it, delicately, smiling all the while. Unlike the assassin, Mayumi merely liked to taste blood - most any blood. It just so happened that he was was nearest source. Done with her peverse enjoyment, she offered Eradon the blade.
                                                  "You must be hungry. Drink."

Eradon Slade

"Disease, insanity, and death were the angels that attended my cradle,..."

Eradon heard Mayumi giggle, and it seemed for that one second she was actually innocent, but he knew the truth. Her blood was just as tainted as his. He watched as she closed her eyes seeming to have fallen asleep while listening to the sounds of the city, while also using him as a heating source. He watched as a small smile grew to her lips after he asked his question. He'd known her for a long time to see through simple questions like that. When she did finally answer him, his voice hitched in his throat in surprise. Had she actually given him a high praise? He wondered or was it just his imagination playing tricks on him, he wasn't sure. He knew for a fact from her that it wasn't uncommon for her to order him or maybe someone else to maim, kill, injure, or send away from her sight, but this was uncommon, even to him. He looked at her for a brief second as his surprise melted away rather quickly in order for him to answer her question. "Yes in fact I did Mayumi. he said despite the teasing tone in her question. That was then when he noticed that she was looking at his eyes. He watched as she then formed a blade out of crystal like she had done so many times before. Am I becoming that officious? he wondered to himself as she picked up his hand knowing what came next. He had plenty of scars on his fingers to show for it, as she made the cut he didn't flinch like he use to, but the feeling of hunger was slightly getting to him worse then before as she licked his bleeding finger smiling while doing it. After she finished and handed him the blade, and giving him permission, he took it gently from her hand as he took her other one into his, and made a long cut on her palm. It bothered him slightly since he actually never enjoyed the taste of blood, but right now he couldn't help himself as he began to feed, taking small gulps before finishing in about a minute. He then let go of her hand as his eyes turned back to their normal state as he sighed. "It seems I'm starting to rely on your blood more then before." he said looking at her with a small smile.

"...and since then have followed me throughout my life."

"It seems you are," she replied sweetly, studying the cut on her palm curiously. She crossed and uncrossed her legs as her eyes travelled up and down Eradon's toned body, hidden under layers of clothing. She knew where his assassin's mark was - had seen it once or twice before. It was stark and clean against his skin, and Mayumi had a strange fascination with it. She tugged gently on his shirt, enjoying the the feeling of owning something so preciously fragile.
"Eradon," she purred, laying her head back on his chest. Mayumi slipped his shirt down further to expose bare skin, stopping when his tattoo was finally visible. She drifted a light finger over the line, feeling a surge of almost sadistic pleasure that he should be marked in this way and still belong to her. Oh, the irony of it. Her arms were iron clamps as she seized him in a hug, before the silverette turned away and curled up, relaxing against the feeling of another being.
"I love you, Eradon," she whispered into the cool air, as if tasting the words for the first time.
Then she laughed, a shimmering, cruel, delighted sound. For it was impossible for the both of them to love beyond selfish physical desires and needs and wants. Still, she had a smile on her face when she turned back to the assassin. A sweet, demure smile. Mayumi clasped both of his hands in her own, and set the question, with a tone that was soft but left absolutely no room for discussion.
"You'll stay with me forever, won't you?"
She would have waited on his answer, but Mayumi felt a little lightheaded from the lack of blood resulting from Eradon's meal. It was a necessary evil, and she didn't mind it; after all, an addiction didn't happen without supplies.
Then she nuzzled against him like a child would, and slept.

Eradon Slade

"Disease, insanity, and death were the angels that attended my cradle,..."

Eradon looked away slightly embarrassed. He'd never been addicted to something besides killing, and in his mind it was weird, but he let happen anyway. After a few seconds he turned back to see she was staring at him, well his body mostly. He looked at her as she seemed to be eyeing where his assassin mark was placed. He looked down at it as she began tugging gently on his shirt. He allowed her as always even though the mark bothered him a bit since it was placed on him by force and not because he wanted to. In truth he was surprised how it actually turned out, since he assumed it would just scar over time. He smiled to himself before turning his head slightly to look at Mayumi when she said or purred his name. Yes, Mayumi? He asked looking at her when he felt her lay on his chest. On instinct used his other arm to support her so she wouldn't slip. He continued to feel her tug on his shirt til he felt his skin become exposed. He tensed when she drifted her fingers lightly over his mark, and wanted to gasp, but held back behind clench teeth, not because it hurt only because he was sensitive there. He then started to relax when she suddenly clamp her arms around him seizing him into a hug. He was quite surprised by it, til she turned away and relaxed against him again. He began to relax himself, when he heard her speak again. He turned his head quickly to look at her in confusion. Had she really meant that or was it a trick to get into his head, he wondered. No, he couldn't love and neither could she they were so focused on lust then love that it wasn't possible. He then heard her laugh, and heard how it sounded. That seemed to only confuse him more when she then smiled in his direction and clasped both his hands in hers. He didn't pull away and just looked at her when she spoke again, hearing in her tone that there was no room for discussion. He was going to say something in response, but could see she was falling asleep due to his earlier meal. He let her fall asleep as she nuzzled against his bare chest. He then lightly sighed, just thinking to himself now about his day at the ice cream shop and the beach. It was there where he had met Elizabeth and actually had kissed her. He was becoming unfocused again, but this time it was the thought of her that did it. At first he kept convincing himself it was lust not love, but as he kept thinking about it he wasn't sure anymore. This is all so confusing. I probably just need to clear my head or something, but since Mayumi is asleep I don't want to disturb her. he thought when he remembered he was still wearing his headphones. He moved slightly to placed them over his ears and moved again trying not to wake Mayumi up as he grabbed his Ipod from his pocket to play some music. For a minute he searched through his playlist before finding the song he wanted and pressed play. He then leaned his head back against the couch as he nodded his head to the beat of the music.

"...and since then have followed me throughout my life."

When she awoke, the sky was dark and pricked with tiny glimmers of light. Eradon did not appear to have moved. She blinked, smiled, and rolled over, steadying herself by grabbing his arm. For a long time, neither of them spoke, but Mayumi watched the evening sky throw beams of light against her windowpanes. She yawned delicately and rose, padded lightly into her bedroom, and returned a few moments later with an oversize fur throw heaped over one shoulder. Mayumi dropped it onto the couch and returned to the glass doors of the balcony that overlooked her city. A night breeze was picking up, and the thrum of traffic was fast becoming muted and soft. From many floors down, a hint of pained sobbing reached her ears. She idly let a crystal dagger grow out of her fingers, waved it around for a bit, and dropped it with uncanny accuracy. The sobbing intensified. It was a beautiful night.
She made her way lightly back over to the couch, stooping to close the balcony doors a smidge more. The wind whistled in eerily at certain moments - music to her ears - but Mayumi flipped the TV on and the lights off so that all that was left in the room were quiet voices, starlight, and two people. Then she rejoined Eradon on the couch and pulled the throw over her bare legs. The TV flashed dully with a news report - guns firing, a war somewhere - and the girl watched with a small smile.
"How...droll. You should go show them how to fight sometime."
Mayumi leaned back into the couch and stared at the vast expanse of sky before them, and let either sleep or the dawn find her first.

Eradon Slade

"Disease, insanity, and death were the angels that attended my cradle,..."

Eradon awoke when he felt Mayumi roll off of him. He groaned slightly when he felt his arm being pulled, but he tighten it so Mayumi could steady herself. He then opened his eyes more seeing that it was dark out. Guess I doze off. he thought as he removed his headphones just as a differnet song from the one he played earlier finished. He sat up as he pulled his shirt back on from today's earlier moment. He didn't speak as he heard her yawn and left the couch for a few moments. When she returned he felt the weight of an oversize fur throw land on the couch near by him as he let his eyes adjust to the dark seeing Mayumi on the balcony watching the city. He thought about joining her, but his body just didn't seem to want to move, and with that he just continued watching her as she seemed to hear something from outside and watched the crystal dagger form in her hands. He followed the dangling dagger til she dropped it off the balcony. That was when he heard the sobbing.

Did she just hit someone? he wondered, but was too tired to care, plus he enjoyed death anyway so the thought just amused him. He looked back over to her when he heard her feet lightly hit the floor as she made her way back to the couch. He heard the glass doors slide close then the TV being turned on. The bright light made him cringe for a few seconds before his eyes readjusted once more to the new found color show and the dimming of the lights. It was once again quiet besides the fact the TV was playing. He then felt her rejoin next to him on the couch as he heard her throw the throw onto herself. He watched the TV silently letting himself drift back to sleep as he heard the achormen speaking and guns firing. A gentle lullaby to his ears as he closed his eyes only to hear Mayumi speak to him. He opened them again, only half way as he looked over to her.

Hmm... he groaned softly before speaking. I could, but what fun would that be. Then they all would just win anyways, and there's no fun in that. he said as he shifted to make himself more comfatable as she leaned back. He smiled softly as he tried to stay awake to watch the news braodcast then to the night sky. He yawned softly feeling the evil hand of sleep wash over him. Usaully he could go days to maybe weeks without sleep, but since he just got back from a long trip his body begged for some rest.

"...and since then have followed me throughout my life."

Mayumi's lips curled into a smile as Eradon began to fall asleep again. They both lay unmoving for a while, with Mayumi still staring on ahead into the darkness. She wondered how things were at home - whether her father had been replaced yet - the long list of daily deaths at her crystal castle; her little brothers, sisters, cousins, extended family, all vying for the one throne that was hers by birthright and by all rights. It mattered not. It practically had Mayumi engraved with it. Her father had ordained for it to be hers - but she didn't need any announcement or approval. Perhaps, if the old man had grown too weak when she returned, she'd have Eradon slit his throat. That was the smallest mercy to be had. She remembered the throaty guffaw of her father slashing away at a serving-maid who had failed him once too often, colouring her new dress a bright shade of red. Of course, the wide of his swing had knocked Mayumi off her feet, too. Papa had waved his sword at all the servants and soldiers and people until she had stopped bawling and stood herself upright. Then she, in true Inoue fashion, had joined in the bloodbath.
Since she wasn't sleeping, Mayumi didn't feel too cold from the night wind that drifted in between the doors. Casting a quick glance over to Eradon, she realised that his shirt was still rumpled and his skin bare in places. Almost tenderly, she draped her blanket across his sleeping form, and went off to look for something to amuse herself with until the morning. Her wanderings brought her to the study, where she grabbed a laptop and booted it up. Mayumi's fingers hovered for a moment over the keys before she decided to do a little homework - on her school. After all, she was quite the newcomer, and it wouldn't do for her to be completely clueless. All of this was completely boring, in fact, even worse than any homework she'd ever had, but she found herself growing surprised and disgusted with the system. Any system that played nice on the outside and had been infiltrated by assassins like her own would no doubt end up in chaos. It would make things too easy for Eradon - not that she was complaining. Pondering this, she began to drift off while curled up in the large chair facing the computer and open window. When the first rays of morning sun peeked over the horizon, the girl was woken up almost instantly.

Eradon Slade

"Disease, insanity, and death were the angels that attended my cradle,..."

Eradon had fallen asleep, his body in a calm state as his breathing slowed to even breaths. In sleep he seemed like a normal teenage boy in high school, but that wasn't the case. To most he looked like a heavy sleeper due to his relaxed state and a few light snores here and there, but being an assassin he learned to sleep lightly, and knowing the difference to a simple noise to a threat near by. Even in sleep he could feel Mayumi's weight still right next to him as he could only guess if she was asleep or not. He shifted slightly as he mumbled something incoheritly under his breath in his sleep. It sounded like a small curse towards someone, but only he would know who he was addressing. He had made a few enemies in his time so the list was pretty long.

After about a minute of shifting in his sleep the clothes he wore rumpled together showing skin in some places and hiding it in others. His mark was slightly showing again due to this movement til he just laid there perfectly still. It was then he felt something being placed over him as he softly opened his eyes to see Mayumi place her blanket over him in an almost tenderly matter. In his mind he was slightly confused, but let it past since it had been a strange day anyways. He watched her leave the room probably to find something to do since she was awake.

He softly sat up seeing her head to the study. He removed the blanket as he stood up following her to the study to see her doing homework. He smiled softly as he stood behind the chair reading what was on the screen as he watched the morning rays forming into the once dark room. He then leaned onto the chair as he looked at her. "Morning." he said softly feeling more awake then before.

"...and since then have followed me throughout my life."

"Good Morning," she murmured sleepily, flashing him a gentle, adorable smile. She uncurled out her previous position and dangled a leg down to the floor to steady herself. Mayumi took a few more hesitant steps forward, then stretched and yawned delicately and made her way into her room. After collecting a change of clothes, she went to the bathroom to clean herself up, feeling the warmth of hot water vapour on her skin as a welcome sign of morning. In just a few moments, she was done, and reappeared with her bathrobe slung over her arm, which she then carelessly tossed onto the sofa. Mayumi was wearing a long, silken white dress - her daily attire, actually, and her hair was in a slight disarray down her back.
She resumed her position on the sofa, then craned her neck to take a look at Eradon. "We'll be going out today," she stated, "perhaps to the park. I should like to meet some new...friends." This last part was said rather menacingly and with no small amount of glee, as her mind ran through the portraits of her classmates she'd seen last night. In her excitement, Mayumi alternated between hurling makeshift crystal daggers off the balcony and bouncing on the couch while waiting for Eradon.
