Everything had been a little too quiet as of late - not that any of the pride complained. In fact, most of them were positively delighted, revelled in the opportunity to relax, and had quickly disappeared to pursue their own hobbies through the region. However for the leader of this particular pride he just couldn't settle; every time things had gotten quiet, something would happen and the day would be ruined in the blink of an eye.

Thus, in order to keep his own completely irrational paranoia at bay, the lion in question had elected to patrol the borders for a little while. A good walk would put his mind at ease and also serve to tire him out, the more tired he was, the less liable he was to think. Honestly, it was really quite pathetic... He remembered a time when he had been completely logical. It was around the same time that he hadn't had the responsibility of an entire pride on his shoulders.

...Alas, such was the joy of a rebellious daughter, she'd caused such havoc!

Consequently, the blue lion now found himself on the borders of the Bahari'mtoto, not quite far enough from the coast to lose the tangy scent of the sea breeze, but a suitable distance away for the trees to grow in dense clusters in the fertile soil near the fresher water. He didn't expect to see anyone cross over into their lands, the coast was not the most frequent of lion haunts (if you weren't local), but no one ever knew what could happen on a particular day!

Don't have her updated cert yet

Today was just another day. Traveling for endless hours to places she had never been before and basking in the wide open landscape. She didn't know when she last rested and didn't really care too much. She wasn't tired nor was she hungry, but she knew before she slept tonight she was going to have to find something to at least nibble on.

Flicking her tail, she could feel the breeze and the smell of the sea. Was she really that close? Did she really travel that far? She only came to the beach once in a blue moon because it took so long to get there. She did love how it smelled and the gentle breeze that swept by. It was quite calming that was for sure. She slowly scanned the beach before her eyes fell on a male not that far away making her feel a little uncomfortable at first and stood her ground. She watched him closely seeing how he acted and his demeanor before wandering over slowly. After all she didn't want to get into a fight for no reason.

"Hello." She said softly to the other. Maybe this day wouldn't be too much of a waste after all. "It's a rather nice day isn't it?" She said to him as she looked out at the ocean hearing the waves beat against the shoreline. "I rarely come out this far, but when I do I stay here for days." She wondered if one day she could live on the beach. Maybe if she actually found a home, though right now a home was the farthest thing on her mind.

Well, by the gods he had been blessed with some semblance of company! No sooner had be began to wander aimlessly long the borders of his pride territory than he came face to face with the orange mare. Dappled to a point and with a large black stripe across her spine, she was clearly a lioness who would have done well in the roguelands - a silent assassin as it were, she'd have been difficult to see in certain places. Nevertheless, against the somewhat greener backdrop of the Bahari'mtoto's borders, she was a little easier to spot and given that she hadn't made her existence a secret, he wasn't caught entirely unaware.

Instead, as she had spoken, he had lifted his gaze to acknowledge her presence and took a brief moment or two in which to confirm who and what she was. Overall she didn't look very dangerous or threatening, to be fair, he was large enough to chase her off if it really came down to that...but everything seemed to indicate that the lioness in question wasn't hostile. In fact, she'd even struck up a conversation!

"It is," he agreed with a smile and glanced over his shoulder as he followed her gaze to the shoreline. "And you aren't the first to tell me that - we seem to get a lot of visitors who like to stay for a period of time," he mused quietly. It was at that point that he released a chuckle and shook his head, "I always wonder how we're found, we aren't close to many individuals with the exception of a limited number of coastal prides."

Another pause.

"Do we have a tour guide out there?"

She was pleased to meet another that didn't want to kill her and was friendly. This was a good start to her day. "Really? I haven't been to the beach in awhile. It's too far of a travel, but when I do come here I never want to leave. Sometimes I wonder if maybe I should just stay." She said to the male moving slightly closer before her eyes settled on the water before her. It was soothing her soul and really keeping her calm, not that she wasn't calm front he beginning. "So with 'we' I'm assuming you mean a pride?" She didn't mind that he was from a pride, but it made her a little more wary. She didn't know what to expect from pride members and she always feared they would try to recruit her. She didn't know if she would be fit for a pride. Maybe one day. "I didn't even know there were coastal prides. I guess that is rather ignorant of me..I should assume there is, but then assuming isn't a good thing either." She told the male eyeing the accessories he had on. They were interesting and seemed like they would be for more colder climates.

"A guide? No I don't think so unless they wandered away from this area. Is there something your looking for?" She didn't know if she could help him, but it wouldn't hurt. The only thing she could probably do at the moment was wander alongside him for a moment or if she knew the area enough, she could lead him there. She had been to a lot of places in her life so she hoped she would know the area.

"So I'm guessing you are allowed to travel pretty far? I don't know much about pride boundaries since I can roam anywhere I want to, but how far away are you from your pride?" She asked stepping into the cool wet sand feeling her paws sink into it a little bit. She always loved that feeling.

Utsuli was right, his outfit was most certainly from colder climates and had his daughter not caused havoc he probably would have still been back in the region it was more fitting for. Alas, fate didn't always work that way and as a consequence he now found himself as guardian and protectorate of the Bahari - it was just as well they were nice and he had grown fond of them or he'd have been trapped in a veritable prison of morality!

"No, no, I tend to be quite good at finding what I need," he replied gently and cleared his throat. "I just often wonder who others in the rogue lands and beyond seem to find us," he mused thoughtfully. He soon dismissed this particular query though and moved swiftly along to her other remarks and questions. If there was one thing she'd find would discover about him, he placed no one under any obligation to do anything.

"However if you do feel inclined to stay you can do so, provided you don't cause havoc for the Bahari we generally don't mind if our visitors stay for an extended period of time," he reassured her with a small smile. They had more than their fair share of creatures relaxing in this region that had not taken it as their home - a relief, a relaxing destination, but ultimately they would gather their wits and return to their wandering ways again. "We have more than enough space and resources to accommodate," he added as an after thought, though if she couldn't fish she would probably need to be taught as that was one of their best resources.

"As for how far I can travel; in the grand scheme of things I can travel as far as I like, but this particular area is the edge of our territory," he motioned a little further towards the last cluster of trees. "Beyond that point you are back in to rogue land, though if you were to head to our south, or to our north, you would stumble across other prides that reside upon the coastline," he explained. Ah, but he was fortunate that the Bahari got along so well with most of their neighbours, and the more dangerous ones had left them alone for the most part!

"However placing borders aside, anyone in this pride is permitted to explore the rogue lands or reach out to visit other pridal territories if they see fit; I have no tolerance for shackling a creature to the spot, it just isn't fair..." he murmured.

"So you are from the rogue lands then," he continued conversationally and shook his head. "It's been a while since I was there, which part did you frequent?"

"I wander so from time to time I end up bumping into others or sometimes walking right into prides without knowing it. I don't intentionally look for anyone because there isn't really anyone I want to find." That was partially true because a part of her wouldn't mind seeing her mother and visiting her. Then the other part of her felt like she didn't need anyone at all. She was a complicated case sometimes. “Or maybe it was fate that I found you? Maybe it was some sort of higher purpose that drew me to you?” She asked him with a small smile. She always felt like random meetings weren’t random at all. They were meant to happen at one point or another.

“Oh of course I wouldn’t mind tagging along and don’t worry. I’m not a psychotic lioness so I won’t cause your pride any harm. Even if prides aren’t my thing I wouldn’t want to traumatize others because of it.” She told him following closely at his side. “I’m sure you do. This land is quite pretty and vast.” She listened to him speak and gave a nod of understanding. “Ah I see. I will keep that in mind for when I want to travel home. Thank you for that bit of information.” She was still fairly new to the coastal region and just because she came here on occasions didn’t mean she knew everything about it. “It must be nice to be in a pride and travel as far as you want to. I have heard of some that are rather…restrictive on how far you can go which is a shame. It sounds like your pride is very laid back.” Even though she didn’t like them she didn’t mind talking about them. Sometimes she found out some useful things and other times it just made her hate them even more.

“I agree especially if they have family elsewhere or in other prides. I think it would be down right cruel. But to each there own right?” She smiled looking out to the ocean feeling the cool breeze sweeping by them one again.

“Yes I am actually. I frequent the plains usually or if I’m feeling really daring, the forest, but that is a far travel.” She nodded and a lot of the times she was afraid she would be attacked by something she had never seen before. “How about you? It seems like you have seen your fair share of traveling yourself.” She was oddly getting along with this male and usually when that happened she would break the conversation and flee, but not yet. He intrigued her for the moment. Who knows maybe this was going to be her first friend.

"There was a time when the Bahari were significantly more restricted in what they could and couldn't do," he replied, a tightness in his voice as he recalled how he had found the pride. His daughter hadn't helped much in improving matters either, inflicting further restrictions on the movements of those who'd resided here. "It nearly brought them to ruin and it is only now that they begin to recover - we remain cautious of outsiders as any individual should, but not enough to be hostile," he shook his head and dismissed the sour thoughts, he did like it here, even if he had felt shackled and weighed down by the responsibility when he had first arrived.

"But I am not born within the Bahari, I was an outsider and I had seen the world - though many might have called the Bahari their home I would be the first to declare that everyone should explore if they are curious," he continued. Now that brought a smile to his lips, he'd been looked at as if he was positively bonkers when he had announced the changes...even more so when he had declared that if you entered a sworn relationship with someone []outside the pride, then it was perfectly acceptable so long as they visited often to see their family.

Ah, that had been a break from tradition!

"That being said, I know very few who have slipped beyond the borders to explore as of yet, the concept is still very new to them," he mused and cast a glance towards the lioness. All things considered, she was quite astute in her observations... "But you are not wrong, on a personal level I have travelled quite extensively; had it not been for my daughter's meddling I suspect I would have still been travelling," he confessed and released a sigh. "Nothing is quite so enjoyable as wandering around without the weight of responsibility on your shoulders, no?"

She listened attentively to the male wondering what it was like before when the pride was first starting out. “It sounds like the Bahari went through a growing process through its time. I wonder if there will be more growth or if it will remain the same. Personally I think it will grow. Everything has it’s own way of evolving.” She said and knew that to be true. Even lions were finding ways to evolve into other breeds and creating an entirely new breed. After she met that Cheeton, she knew there were other forces out there or maybe it was just how nature was taking its course. Though she knew hybrids had to suffer a price for being what they were. She sighed wistfully at her thoughts keeping her eyes on the male.

“Ah I see. So that is why you know so much of the land? Seeing everything you could possibly see before finally settling doesn’t sound like a bad idea. I mean once you have done that there isn’t much else to really do.” She said to him and didn’t know if she would be able to do the same kind of thing. She liked her freedom and maybe one day if she really felt like she had seen everything she would join a pride.

“Very true. I think that is why I enjoy my freedom the most. Of course I’m not saying that I wouldn’t join a pride or have children, but it’s something that isn’t fully on my mind right now.” She said to him and she had thought about it many times before, but it never settled enough to the point where it was something she really wanted to do. She continued to walk with him feeling as though time was standing still for a moment or she wasn’t worrying too much about her life. She looked over to him and then looked away eyeing the ocean some more.

“I thank you for this nice talk and stroll. It has really helped me think of some really important things.” She mentioned as she stopped her steps taking a long look at the water. She just knew she was going to stay here for a few days. She loved it and she felt so free being there.

"Oh I'm not so sure about that," Ram hazarded a wry smile as he regarded the lioness; she had the exact same view that he had once had. The day you settled down was the day you lost all freedom, you lulled into a sense of routine and rarely did anything other than care for children or talk about the weather. If he was entirely honest the prospect had been positively terrifying, and still was, to a certain degree. Ah, but he had known of lions within this pride who wandered freely in the territory without this sense of weighted responsibility.

...Suffice it to say that he would aspire to be like them if he settled down to that point.

"True enough that you are temporarily shackled by children, there are certain things you certainly can't do while they are young," he conceded and shook his head. "But that doesn't stop you from exploring when they are grown, especially if your mate is of a similar mind set," he paused and tilted his head to the side, casting his mind briefly back to the memory of his former, very fleeting mate. "Then again you may be an individual who is not tied down to one specific male, while it is the expectation of those in the Bahari to mate for life, it is unrealistic to assume everyone is the same."

He shook his head.

"Regardless, I might be a pride leader but should I ever encounter someone who believes that they are trapped in an inescapable routine, one that is mundane and fulfilling... I should think that I would kick them in the rear end and send them on some form of quest. We can baby sit if the parents need a break," he pointed out with a smile.
