The capital city of Lightvale, built in the shadow of the castle where the royal family resides. A city like any other, there are good neighborhoods and bad. In one of the bad neighborhoods there resides a tavern. It is rather out of place, being a tavern that doesn't conform to any particular ideal, having both magical and magitechnical parts to it. For this reason there are many different kinds of customers that come to what is considered a neutral ground between ideologies. One such customer is a half-elf, half-dragon, named Sydal Kyrix. Sydal was a mercenary for hire, but not just any mercenary, he was "the" mercenary for hire. The one you went to when you needed the best of the best. The one you called on when you had a problem that needed fixing and money was no object. He was expensive, but worth it. But he was also known for his cutthroat conditions. He wouldn't hesitate to turn on an employer if offered more money from an opposing party. Of course, he was a gentleman about it; he would at least let the person make a counteroffer before he made a decision. Of course, bidding wars were common, but when you got paid as much as Sydal did, it was very much worth it.

Sydal was seated in the lounge, just above the bar. The lounge had its own soft atmosphere that contrasted the chatter and clamor below, the fingers of a master pianist playing to lull out the noise carrried through the dimly lit balcony and added to the experience. between four girls he sat, arms arround the girls on either side of him and a cigar in his mouth as he smiled and talked with them, letting them cater to his every need while paying for their snacks, drinks and a little extra for their pleasurable company. Removing the cigar from his mouth, his gloved hands put it out in the ashtray sitting on the table in front of him. With a knowing smirk, he sipped his drink and relaxed in his seat as the ladies took care of him. Sydal was far too old and cynical to believe that finding worthwhile companionship was better/easier/more worthwhile than simply shelling out a bit of cash for some ladies to cater to his every whim. Besides, this way he could dismiss them when a customer came by, or let them stay and entertain the customer while they talked business.

Setting his empty glass down, Sydal figured that tonight was a lucky night for him. He had a hunch that some sort of big payday would be coming his way, and his hunches were usually good. The half dragon flexed his fingers a little, adjusting the gloves on his hands that he wore to hide his dragon-like features. He didn't mind how he looked, but the customers he worked for tended to have varying opinions about whether being a half-dragon was a good thing. So he did the math and figured he would rather be an elf with a few dragon features than a dragon with mostly Elven features. A flash of green under a hood caught his eye as a nondescript individual in a hood walked into the lounge area, looking as though they were looking for someone. Tilting his head slightly he appraised the newcomer and waited for them to act.

The city of Lightvale, 6 PM. In the seedy back alleys, a cloaked figure darts about. Seeing another tavern, she slips in unnoticed. This figure is none other than the Magia princess, Tango, who has been searching all day for a talented mercenary to aid her in her mission. By this point, she's beginning to doubt that rumor about taverns being good places to find mercenaries, as she has had no luck finding any.
Upon entering, she immediately feels ill. This is the most vile tavern she's seen yet! Despite the general vileness of the place, she scans the room for any promising-looking travellers...
One in particular stands out: A rather handsome man with green hair and horns. Before she can approach him, though, a rather large, drunken man throws a mug across the room at her. "Hey," she shouts, "What the hell was that for!?"
The large man stands up and approaches Tango.
"Looks like I'm gonna have to teach this little b***h some manners, heh heh heh..."
Tango glares at the man, and begins to mutter the incantation to a fire spell, with full intent to burn this place to the ground...

For a moment the person under the hood's golden orange eyes met Sydal's, in an instant he knew what she was looking for. It seemed she was about to run into some trouble though, as a particularly drunk man tossed a mug at her. Never about to abandon a woman in need, Sydal slipped out of the booth he was seated in, recognizing the beginnings of a fire spell as he stepped up behind the drunken man. "I think you've had a little too much do drink my friend. Let me help you." Sydal spoke to the man in a tone that held a bit of contempt, but more than anything it was a simple authoritative remark, designed to put the man in his place. Then Sydal knocked him out with a blow to his neck. Catching the man, Sydal deposited him in the booth he was previously seated at before returning to the person in the hood. "Good evening miss. Am I wrong or are you in the market for some certain services, a man like myself can provide? Certain services that require the help of a mercenary?" Sydal didn't care who this woman was really, he was in the market, so long as she was paying him decently for the job she wanted, he'd do it, even if the job was less than savory. In fact, he offered group discounts and twenty percent off your next job deals. He was, first and foremost, a businessman.
