My first successful craft other than the freebie...hm...it's been a long time since then. I'm not sure what all of the items were that I crafted back when I was only Level 1...I know I crafted the Tire Dress, and the Orb Aggregate it needed, a couple times each, but that was probably later...I was going to craft Smashing Cities, but did I ever actually finish...?...but I suspect my first may have been the Book of Poems. I had a friend back then who was a real bibliophile. When I saw there was an Alchemy-exclusive book item, I knew he'd be all over it, so I went ahead and sought out the rhyming components the formula called for. I probably had a heck of a time getting the Spring Breeze...come to think of it, I wouldn't be surprised if the Book wasn't the first item because of how long the Spring Breeze would have taken to find back then. I recall being underwhelmed with the item when I was done, but I knew my friend wouldn't mind if it wasn't the greatest item ever. A book was a book to him.

*Sits down next to Platonix* So what was alchemy like back then? Did caches exist back then? How about the Bitfrost? How were formulas obtained? Was the xp system the same?

Actually, now that I think about it, I remember my first item actually being the Silver Sable Coat.
I remember baking the cake with care, collecting the plum brooches and setting them carefully into the circle, and grinding up candy canes into a fine powder. I got into quite an argument in the marketplace over the Kitten star Tree Topper, and carefully weaving the ribbon into the bows.
It sparked the desire in me to be an alchemist, but alas, I could never afford it...

piggyzhou *Sits down next to Platonix* So what was alchemy like back then? Did caches exist back then? How about the Bitfrost? How were formulas obtained? Was the xp system the same? Only one Cache existed back then. The base Philosopher's Cache didn't grant a random lesser cache; it granted a random one of over 200 components, mostly the same ones now contained in the colored Caches. As I'm sure you can imagine, that made getting any particular item a massive headache. Didn't help that, at first, the only way to craft a Cache (or a Case) was with the Golden Giftbox path. The Bifrost has been around as long as Alchemy (longer, actually. Before it was a shop, it was just Cresento's private airship, and as such has been around in the plot since before Brennivin, Sentinel and Overseer.) Back in the old days, it didn't sell nearly as many formulas as it does now; most of the formulas the Bifrost sells now were originally found randomly in the Brown/Blue/Pink/Golden Giftboxes or Wooden/Golden Trunks, or in the Alchemist's Case. Really, Alchemy was 98% randomness back then. You know that thread legendary billionaire alchemist Brian Akazariua made, claiming getting to level 10 is too easy nowadays? That's because he remembers the days when, 49 times out of 50, all the gold in the world couldn't get you a needed component because no one had it to sell. The XP system was just like it is now, but for some reason there was a fair amount of confusion over it. Maybe because not many people were actually speaking from experience. If you can believe this, it used to be a hotly contested issue whether a formula one level below you would grant ½, or ¼, the XP that a formula of your level would. emotion_facepalm And I don't think it was just because Level 2 is different from the rest like that.

I think it was the 2k11 Masquerade Brooch(es), Made a lot of those to get me leveled up.
First thing I made that I actually wanted was Erebus Moon. Between that and leveling up it took me 6 months to finally get it.

To think back... It's been such a long time.
My very first craft was the Orb Aggregate. As a man who has seen his way from the greens of the gnome villages, to the deepest, darkest depths of the Shadows, I have collected many a Charge Orb. Never did I use them, since there be nothing fer me t' craft or use them on. Suddenly, Alchemy appears before me, and a formula that isn't ridicuous catches me eye!
I grab a few in a mad dash from Cressento, and fly out of his store faster than he can say "Pleasure doing business with you". I make it back to my small home in Towns, and lock the door up tight. I light a candle or two as I dim the lights, and I begin reading the formula.
"Hmm, let's see here... 100 Charge Orbs. Okay, no problem." Gently, I remove a small satchel full of the soft, violet orbs, and place them on the ground, in the middle of a small summoning circle. I add a few gold pieces as well, and begin chanting. After what felt like ages, the summoning was over. My small Charge Orb satchel was torn asunder, the previous contents all but gone. The gold had also disappeared, but in its place, lie several small orbs. They didn't hold the same power that a single Charge Orb held, but they still radiated with the same, soft glow.

Surely our Alchemists have more to say on this matter? I have never known alchemists to pass on an opportunity to brag about their workings and creations!

The alchemist let her head rest in her hand as she thought.
"It's hard for me to remember, but the earliest one I can recall is probably the Orb Aggregate. As one who has experienced fighting the Animated for a good bit, it was only natural that I'd get extra orbs to use in it."
She couldn't help but smile thinking back to when she received her first ring, a Solar Rays ring, and realizing that, while she still has some ways to go, in other ways she came a good way since those days.

I did the Aspiring Alchemist and then Orb Aggregates. I'd wanted to do Titan's Legacy but at the time, I'd only recently come back to Gaia and the MP prices had my head rather swimming.
I'd like to make one equipable item per level, but I'd have to rely heavily of Ye Olde Trunk of Forgotten Things to make Changeling: Baby Boy. (More likely trade or buy, since the trunk is quite random, I think.)
