For all those no shows, they should be deleted or changed into a promo spot for the one who did show.
I was to add more to it than this, but the Award Sub-Forum killed my motivation and am now thinking ******** all this and drop EVERYTHING.
Didn't King make a speech about how happy he was to finally become RPer of the Year in 2013? He was already in 2009.

Considering the results were never fully published, I imagine he sees it as him not winning it. I don't see how this could kill your motivation, though.
That's how no-show matches should be handled. However, not everyone comes out and promos. They should, but they don't seem to.

It kills my motivation that I participated and voted and 2007 & 2008 were the years that I gave the biggest s**t in what I did, then to see twice that the only two that nominated me was kjcfender and Riff-master. Once I realized this was just something to jerk each other off, it just made me sick that they created an great thing to only orgy themselves. I'm just seeing this and thinking, '******** you all, give me some recognition because I know that at the time I was better than a few of those at that time being'. I rarely ever look at this, take part in it and hate to see it come around when it does.. it only makes me bitter and de-motivates me to try.
Delete when no promo comes about.

You could do something like a promo, or my suggestion would also be to have them in a jobber match. They could pick out a name if the guild provides them, or just create some jobber and the person that shows up gets an easy win and can get them some recognition.

Y'know, I totally forgot about jobbers. They are provided in some guilds. Hell you could make up your own. I don't know why no one uses them.
If you're referring to the 2013, it irked me a little that King won, not because he wasn't good. He was damn good, still is But you have people like Matt or myself or anyone else that shows up for the entire year and does promos, stellar ring work and then someone like King (no offense) comes in four months into the year and wins everything because he voted on himself.
Now I'm not knocking on him about his promos and his matches and anything like that because they're good, deserving of it? Debatable.
I think it's the same as the sense with the Rock coming in few a few dates a year and winning a title, and having match of the year (when that match was by far NOT match of the year) same principle applies,
However, I really have myself to blame and thankfully it won't repeat again. I never took out the 'voting for one's self when it comes to RPer of the year' because I thought some people would be honorable and 'not' vote for themselves...
But it is what it is right?

Because we forget that they are there..
I can't really comment on the "BiTB" thing, because you're right. It's a double-edged blade. It can be used to really acknowledge people and their achievements, or just a way to vote for your best friend. That's the problem with BiTB and it's also the greatest part of it, it's decided by the entire community. Double-edged sword.
The Slammies will be looking to change that this year, and we will be honoring more than just certain categories. We're gonna try to give people the spotlight where they deserve it. Chrono could elaborate on that more than I could.
As for jobbers, I encourage this 100% and may request people to do so with no-shows in the future in BBW.

Its what happens when there's an open ballot. Its what people do if there's an opportunity, including myself.
A solution might be to have a "committee" decide on who will be up for that specific award.
