Satu had spent the best part of the morning ironing out details in a few of her stories. It was something she did often. Sadly, it meant she often kept to herself, although she did like to test her stories on friends and family, especially Kale and Ishiwa, she had not yet been able to speak to any of the young lions or cubs in the pride.
It was the cubs for whom these stories were intended, after all. Fables, myths, tales and imagination were what she supposed fueled little minds, as they did hers when she was young. Perhaps she was wrong, perhaps some cubs just would not be interested. She was keen to give it a go regardless. How she would go about telling cubs her stories however, was a different matter entirely. Even in a pride as accepting and friendly as this, you could not wander up to another's cub full of tales and fantasy. Especially not without the Storyteller title, anyway.
And that was what she was aiming for.

Vogel was bored. There was really nothing to do, and he wanted to have fun! No one was around, though, not anyone that was entertaining at least. It was a shame! Everyone wanted to play tag or run after things, but he wanted some quiet fun - something he could sit doing. That wasn't to say he was lazy - he wasn't lazy at all, thank you very much! There was just more to having fun than running all the time.
Perhaps an adult knew something. Someone had to, at least, so the small cub wandered away from where he was in search of something to do.

As if by magic, or that he had read her thoughts, a little creature appeared against the grass. She could see a little cub, wandering not too far away. Satu pondered where his parents were, but then again the Pridelands were entirely safe and filled with other responsible adult lions. Satu would surely keep her eye on any little ones that she saw that appeared to be without adult supervision.
The little cub looked like if he carried on going, he would intersect her path. The deer spotted lioness stood up and walked over to him quietly. She had not yet had much interaction with cubs, although their innocence and playfulness brought her joy.
"Are you okay there, little one?" She asked softly.

Vogel sighed as he puttered around in the grass for a moment. Maybe he should just go play with the other cubs, he frowned. But, of course, that was when the gods blessedly granted him a reprieve. He looked up at the lioness at the sound of her voice, startled. It took him a moment, but he beamed up at the lioness with a smile.
"I'm okay," He told her softly, tail swishing a moment. He nearly gave into a sudden bout of shyness despite having sought out an adult. "My mama calls me Vogel, what's your name?" he asked curiously, having never seen this particular lioness before. Of course the pride was pretty large...
He wondered if she knew any games that weren't tag.

He was a sweet little thing, all sat in the grass. She gave him a wide but gentle smile and bent down a little so she was more on his level. "Hi Vogel, I'm Satu."
She looked around, concerned for a moment. "Your mama knows your out here? Right?" The lioness purred.
The pride was a relatively safe place, but the last thing she wanted was a little cub to get in trouble, or heavens forbid get lost near the borders. In any case, if the little one was lost, at least she was with him now.

Vogel bounced a little. "Mama knows I came out to play, but I don't know where Moyo and Nyota are. They wanted to play tag, but I didn't, so I came this way instead!" He wasn't much of a run and tag kind of cub, after all. He would maybe grow into it.
But for now, that was how he was. "Oh, it's nice to meet you, Missus Satu," he said, almost as an after thought, but he tried! Manners could be hard sometimes.
"Do you know any stories?"

"Are they your siblings?" She asked gently. At least his mother knew where he was. With as many lions as there were in the Pridelands it was easy to lose a little cub in the long grasses, let alone the crowds. Satu winced a little at the thought, she hoped she didn't lose any cubs on her watch.
He was a sweet little cub and she giggled lightly.
"I do, as a matter of fact." Satu thought about the different kinds of stories she had in mind. She had solid characters, thought out plots, then she had stories made of history, and simple stories with vague ideas and characters that could be told almost casually - probably the best for an occasion such as this. She had practiced a more solid story on Ishiwa, and he was a great subject.
"Vogel, shall we walk whilst I tell you a story, and we can look for Moyo and Nyota at the same time?"

"Yep!" He smiled up at the kind lioness. "Nyota has a star on her shoulder, an' Moyo has a heart! Mama has some patches that are hears and stars, but I don't have any of those," He told her, seriously.
He nearly bounced when he heard that she had stories to tell! He wanted to hear one, but Nyota and Moyo always ran off and played somewhere else when he wanted to hear one.
"Oh, oh, that's a good idea!" he agreed.
"I think they went that way," he waved his paw in some direction he was nearly sure he saw them at, bouncing up to Satu's side to hear the story.

Vogel's siblings sounded just as sweet as him with their unusual markings, and she smiled down at the chirpy cub as they walked side by side. "Well your markings are just as lovely!" She purred softly. She was getting used to spending time with cubs and looking after them, and they were such joyfully sweet creatures - well, most of the time.
They set off in the direction Vogel had indicated and she started off slowly.
She decided to tell the same story she'd told Ishiwa, the first time she had tested it out.
It was a story about bravery, about a young hare named Bibu who saves his friend from being eaten. Satu made sure to include suspense in her voice when it was needed...
"...So, they hid deep in the snow into which they had fallen and eventually... the lion left! If it wasn't for his bravery, his friend might have been eaten, but they learnt that day that sometimes you have to be brave..." She nodded wisely.

Vogel smiled. "Thank you, Missus Satu~" He giggled and bounced a bit, following her as they walked. He looked at up with her in rapt attention as soon as he started the story. And such an exciting story it was! The search would end far too soon for the young lion's taste, and the story would be far too short! He loved stories and wanted to listen to Satu more, but is siblings were playing close by. Luckily Satu had finished the story before they had reached the pair. "Thank you for the story, Missus," he cheered, rubbing against her in gratefulness. He bounced off to join his siblings at the end of the story, "Byebye! I hope you have more stories when I see you next time~" Zosie Fin or another post then? c:

Satu smiled at the sweet little cub. To be able to tell a story and have another enjoy it was the greatest gift. Not only that but now she seemed more able to deal with cubs, although she supposed not every cub would have the same sweet disposition Vogel did. Suppose she was looking after a more unruly one?
She chuckled to herself and watched the little ones play for a moment, wondering when the day would come for her turn to be a mother. Satu was in no rush but still hoped it would happen some day.
So far this storytelling thing was working out better than she had hoped.
