Personality: Rey is a bit on the inexperienced side when it comes to life. Sent off to the Harper Hall at a young age, she has seen a lot but experienced very little in actuality. She has a single minded focus that, while advancing her quite quickly through the ranks at the Hall, made her miss out on much of life. She's somewhat awkward socially; she does her best to interact with folks but often says the wrong thing at the wrong time. She is certainly familiar with the relationships that people have, but is more of a sideline player, watching the lives of others and wondering rather wistfully when that will ever happen to her. Impressing Awen was the first serious relationship she's ever had with another living being, and she's quite besotted by her easygoing green. She is always a hard worker and never complains if folks load her too heavily with responsibility. Awenth has changed that only marginally, as now Rey realizes that her dragon depends on her and she can't spend all of her time working for others.
Rey still isn't very good for standing up for herself, hoping to ingratiate herself to others by doing favors for them. She will often be found whisking about on some errand or another, and can be prone to being bullied into doing others' work. Anyone in charge of Rey will have to keep a close eye on her, as she will most certainly attempt suicide by work! Reminders to eat and sleep are always helpful.
While she doesn't have self confidence issues, she doesn't seem to have very high self-worth. She always feels like she has something to prove, but whether that's to herself or others, she's never really cared to guess. She feels like she's stuck in a transition and that bigger and better things are waiting for her, but what are they, and how does she get there? Philosophy is hardly her strong suit, so she's just sticking with what she knows for now: work! While others live and love and grow, she sits in the background, stuck in her same old rut. Perhaps because her talents were only acknowledged grudgingly and when they had to be, she doesn't realize how truly amazing of an individual she has the potential to be. She's the late-blooming flower, and she might just turn out to be the most beautiful of them all.
Anyone that bothers to take the time to get to know Rey instead of taking advantage of her will find a sweet, full-hearted girl that is actually quite open to conversation, if you can forgive her awkwardness. She can be very passionate about anything that matters, and as such can easily have her aspirations crushed if care is not taken when reprimanding her. She's strong but fragile, and is generally just a big old bucket of love in the corner that no one takes a second look at.
Physical Description: somewhat small even for a woman, she has a short and sturdy frame, but not entirely stocky. There is some grace to her legs, but her shoulders are perhaps a little too broad. Shoulder length strawberry blonde hair is complemented by pale skin and a plethora of freckles, literally everywhere. Arms, legs, face, back, everywhere are freckles! She keeps a neat appearance, hair in a bun when working or neatly tied back when relaxing. She values cleanliness, though she won't hesitate to get dirty if the job requires it; she just makes sure to bathe extra well afterwards. Her gray-green eyes are always soft and kind.
History: Rey soaked up lessons like a sponge with the hold's Harper, and soon she was making just about any instrument she could contrive. Her true talent was with the harp, and she "borrowed" the Harper's harp rather frequently, and often without strict permission. Her single-focus mind had her mastering even the difficult group pieces by age eleven, and though her parents had much preferred her to follow in their footsteps as a Herder, they eventually caved in to their daughter's obvious talent and sent her along to the Harper Hall.
Attending a hatching in Ista as a Journeyman, she was surrounded most times by fire lizards, and even the dragons seemed rather friendly to her. She was selected as a Candidate, with much arguing from her Hall. Eventually it was decided she could stand once or twice, and if she didn't Impress, well, the Weyr could always use another Harper with some beast craft knowledge. She Impresesd Awenth on her first time on the stands, the green being one of the last to hatch and certainly the ugliest of the bunch, but it didn't matter one bit to Rey.
Talents: is *amazing* on the harp. Vocals, not so much. But she can make you cry or dance with a harp. Don't challenge her - she'll make it happen!

Name: Awenth (A-O-enth)
Age: 2
Color: Green
Physical Description: sort of a muddy, non-descript green. She has various darker areas and is of a rather olive-y complexion. Despite this, she has a bit of a vain streak. She's a small, quick green that excels at darting and twisting and daring aerial maneuvers. Her wings are a bit on the short side, meaning she tires quickly, but it gives her added agility in the air.
Personality: rather laid back and relaxed, with not much bothering the young green. She's rather a stark contrast to Rey's single-minded focus and is slowly convincing her rider that good things can happen while relaxing, too. This green has a love of leisure, but she'll work as hard as her rider when called upon to do so. She lives by the idea of "work hard, rest hard", and is often seen as lazy by other riders. With her small stature, it takes her a bit more work and effort to keep up even with other greens. She blends into the background, much like her rider, but along with Rey also gets a lot of work done.
There had been much talk about her egg possibly being un-fertile and many were surprised when she did hatch after all. Folks tend not to expect much from the under-sized green, but unlike her rider, Awenth doesn't see a need to blow away their expectations. She's rather content with being ordinary, and only puts forth the effort she does because it's important to Rey. The pair are very close and spend almost all of their free time together, which doesn't really help either of them socially. Having been referred to as "the runt" and other unflattering terms by some of the higher colored dragons, Awenth has decided that, in her own way, she's too good for the company of most other dragons, only flying formations and Thread because its her obligation as a dragon, and because there's no way Rey would let her slack off like that. She has yet to rise, and if she does, she has every intention of going between somewhere and disappearing until it's "over". She is an immensely proud and somewhat vain creature, perhaps a bit too much personality packed into too small of a dragon.
