Allen was out of breath from all the running, "Sonuva-" Then the roots shot up and started shifting to block their path. "Oh really!?" He groaned loudly, like an actual child. "Ubella! Cecil!" Allen called his Volcarona back out to battle, "Sorry Ubella, but we need you." She nodded and turned to see the massive Trevenant. Allen sighed nervously, remembering the rumors about the large opponent's species. Rumors that people would go lost in forests inhabited by Trevenant, who trapped them in and turn their spirits into Phantump. He shivered at the thought. More rumbling shook the forest and red eyes could be seen peering through the thick trees and bushes surrounding the two trainers... "Cody, I don;t want to alarm you, but we may end up with more company that just the jolly green giant over here." And nods to the wall to his right. "Cecil, if any approach, keep them at bay.. Ubella!" He pointed at the Trevenant, "Burn it!"

With Allen's warning, Cody pulled another ball from his belt.
"I certainly hope you're wrong..." he said nervously, tossing the pokeball into his hand into the air. "Rovinare, help us out!"
In a flash of light, Rotom popped from its ball, spinning gleefully. Cody looked to his pokemon, and the Ghost Type appeared in front of him, waiting at attention.
"Rovinare, help Cecil keep any approaching threats at bay. We need as much alone time with our friend over here as possible," he commanded. With a slight nod, the Rotom spun its way over to Cecil like a top, waiting patiently by the Reuniclus to protect the two trainers.

The ball Cody had throw in the previous post finally burst open, sending Ifrit into the heat of things alongside Ubella.
"Ifrit, blast it with everything you've got!" the boy shouted, pointing to the Tree Ghost in front of them, as if his pokemon wasn't aware of the giant threat that stood before them.
The two pokemon blasted the Trenevant with all of their power, launching fire attacks bigger than they had ever produced at the enemy. Trenevant reacted quickly, swiping a branch in front of its body to produce a barrier that blocked both fire attacks with no effort. The giant tree pokemon roared loudly, rattling the ground below them.

Allen covered his ears as the painful roar rattled the area and the protective barrier fell. "Ubella! Fiery Dance!" She nodded swinging herself around in the air, fluttering around the Trevenant's body, nimbly avoiding it's attempts to swat her away. Finally, near it's eye, She let out the massive burst of fire that had built up, temporarily blinding the giant. She quickly began to retreat, but a randomly aimed swat smacked her out of the sky, she slammed into a surrounding tree and fell to the ground. Stunned, much like Lynda.

Allen returned his Pokemon from the ground. He reached into another Pokeball to find his Banette's pall shiking, like Lynda was trying to come out again. He tossed his Pokemon back out, where she chuckled darkly, watching the Trevenant closely.

Ifrit roared, banging his giant arms on the ground in front of him in anger. Fire was seen burning in the Darmnitan's pupils as the energy inside grew and grew. Finally, the fire type let out a loud roar, engulfing itself in flames and charging at Trevenant, launching itself into the air when it got close enough. Utilizing its ability and held item, the fire surrounding Ifrit seemed brighter than ever as the Flare Blitz connected with Trevenant, forcing it to stumble backwards. The Ghost Type let out a fierce roar of its own, digging its roots deep into the earth and violently shaking the ground underneath the Aquan's pokemon. Ifrit, still recovering from the recoil damage his last attack left him with, suffered a massive hit from the Earthquake, sending the pokemon to his knees.

Cody bit his lower lip nervously and returned his injured pokemon, complimenting the Darmanitan on a valiant effort. Pulling another ball from his belt, he tossed it onto the battlefield, releasing Houndour. The small pup let out a pathetic bark, but if Cody's plan went the way he planned, Houndour would be the one to bring Trevenant to its knees.

Allen watched as Ifrit went down. He visibly flinched, their Pokemon were barely doing anything to this massive Pokemon. It was just too big and it's attacks were just doing too much... Wait, "Its attack..." Allen whipped his head to Cody, grinning, "Its Attack has gotta be through the roof!" He looked to Banette, she already knew, "Lynda! Foul Play!" She unzipped her mouth, letting out a horrid cry. Darkness erupted from her little body, swirling around the Trevenant till it was entire enveloped in a dark, almost black, veil which slow sank in and shot a beam of energy back to Lynda. The Banette glowed a deep purple hue, which lifted from her body outward, creating a form to match the mass of the opponent. From inside, one could see Lynda lift one of her arms, the enveloping form did the same, swinging wide. The massive claw came down with devastating consequences, forcing the opposing Trevenent backwards. Its body made a huge groan as it was unable to stop itself from falling and crashing into the ground, it let out another, must softer, cry before the color of the wood and leaves faded to gray. The energy that made up the Foul Play dissipated quickly, fading into the inky darkness of the maze. "Timber?" Allen commented, "Too bad we can't go back now." He pointed out how the body of the Trevenent effectively cut off the path leading back.

Just then Cecil chirped to get his attention, Allen's vision shifted to the walls of trees. The red eyes that had come to watch them slowly began to fade one by one. He sighed and turned back to Cody, "Well, at least that didn't lead to another encounter..." Now, what about this...? He turned to look back at the wall of roots and vines that stopped them from running in the first place.

Cody cheered loudly, throwing a fist in the air as Trevenant fell backwards, defeated. Houndour ran in circles, excitedly and ran back to her trainer, nuzzling his leg as the boy turned to Allen.
"We did it!" he said, pointing out the obvious. "I was really worried, actually. Quick thinking."
Upon hearing his partner's worry, he turned to the path that had been blocked by Trevenant's roots. They had drastically lost their color and solid, strong form, and had started to wither, shrinking more and more by the second. Within minutes, the roots had shrunken considerably and retracted into the earth, clearing the path onward. Cody pulled Houndour's pokeball from his belt and returned the pup, nodded to Allen.
"After you," he said, ushering the boy down the path.

Allen grinned as the exposed roots withered and shrank. "That looked like something directly out of a video game." He chuckled, returning his Banette, "Cecil, stay ahead, alright?" The Reuniclus nodded, floating ahead of them and they continued on. His good spirits slowly faded, leaving him feeling cold and restless. He kept glancing at the trees to he side of the trail, wondering if yet another one of those monstrous Trevenant would step out from one of the upcoming corners. He took a deep breath and sighed, "I wonder what other challenges this thing's gonna throw at us."

Cody smiled, chuckling a little as Allen spoke. Thinking to some of the games he's played, he nodded.
"I agree. Fight a boss, open the gate," he said looking back to the fallen boss pokemon they had just taken down. "Insert victory music here, right?"
The look on the boy's face grew solemn as he thought about the potential for another fight like that. With both Ubella and Ifrit down, did they really have the resources for another fight like that? They'd have to if they wanted to make it out of here alive.
"Only time will tell, I guess," he replied, looking to his partner with concern. He was grateful to find that the maze opened up a little as they continued down a long straight path. As the path came to an end, it opened up into a large, circular area.
"We should take a minute," Cody recommended, pulling his pack off his shoulders.

Allen nodded, agreeing with the assessment. He pulled the bag strap over his head, setting it on the ground and let out a long breath as squatted himself down next to it. "Cecil, c'mere, you should take a break too." The Reuniclus nodded, coming back to his trainer. "I don't have too many Max Revives, left, but, do you need any?" He pulled his bag in front of him to rummage through the main compartment thumbing over the pouch he kept his healing items in a few times to count what he had left.

Cody pulled Ifrit's ball from his belt and lightly pressed the button in the middle, expanding the capsule in his hand and releasing the Darmanitan. Ifrit groaned, hardly able to move, and laid flat on the ground, stretching his arms out. The trainer sighed, apologizing to his pokemon for putting him through such a battle, but complimented his pokemon for doing so well. Pulling out a Max Potion from his bag, he turned to Allen to deny his offer.
"Nahh. Ifrit's still holding on, but thanks. I actually think I still have one," he replied, digging in his bag to check for what healing items he still had left. Reaching around, he grabbed a Max Potion and tended to Ifrit's wounds, seeing his pokemon flinch as the potion sank into the open cuts and bruises.

Allen nodded to Cody as he turned down his offer, "Alright." He looked down to his bag, grabbing Ubella's ball and let ther her out again, it looked like she'd recovered from her stun, like Lynda had, "Thank Arceus." She placed herself gently on the ground and allowed herself to be supported by Cecil, who graciously offered. Allen pulled a Hyper Potion from his bag to spray on her wounds. She winced slightly at the cool healing spray, Especially on her sensitive wings. Allen thought back to how she'd been swatted out of the air, her back hit the wall of trees then she'd fallen to the ground on her back. That messed with her wings, badly. "Looks like you're not flying for a while. At least not until you're fully healed." She let out a sad noise and it broke Allen's heart. He ran his hand over her head to soothe her, "You'll be alright. The Hyper Potion will help." The worst part was that he could make a splint for them, he'd need more supplies than he had. But even then, her wings would probably end up in worse shape than before due to how thin they were.

"You'll be flying again soon. For now, just take a rest." Allen recalled the Volcarona and turned to Cecil. "Thank you for all the work you're putting into this for us." Cecil stared back his trainer and just gave a smile and a soft cry as if to say, 'Of course.'
