Akash peered around. That pesky cheetah had said it was "right over there". He should have figured what was right over there to a cheetah was half a days walk for him. Stupid cheetah. The bright green male wouldn't leave him alone and wouldn't stop talking a mile a minute until Akash had agreed to go. Really some folk had no idea of personal space.

The hyena heaved a sigh. Why was he even doing this again? Other than he'd told the cheetah he would. He hung his head and plodded on. Really he should have been more specific. He could have gotten himself out of it by saying it would be too far for him. But what else did he have to do?

Shaking his head he looked up and spotted something he hadn't seen before. The sound of many voices calling out in excitement slowly reached his ears and swelled as he got closer. What was going on here? Then it dawned on him. It really was a party! Akash approached casually so it wouldn't look like he was attacking. His head turning left and right as he tried to watch everyone and everything. So many things were going on that it left him confused.

Jacundi wasn't running his stall for this particular celebration. He easily could have, and likely could have made quite a tidy profit. However, during the Lovers Revelry, he never felt quite right charging for what usually was the main object of most shoppers. Sometimes he still sat at his stall, giving away the tokens of affection, but this year he decided to get out and interact more.

Now, being of the bachelor sort, he might have felt rather lonely or excluded from this particular celebration. Heavens knew no hyena-fem had given him a second look for many moons! But to the jovial hyena's way of thinking, this didn't mean he could not enjoy the festivity that was focused on the heart. Love was not really just about lovers, but also about caring for one another in more platonic ways as well. He chose to show his love for others in his gifting of charms and gifts given freely. This certainly wasn't the only time of year he did so, but it was one he still took delight in. Not only that, but his own season was just around the corner!

Currently he was circling around the outer edges of the crowds. He would stop randomly and hand someone a trinket, whether it be a bracelet or a charm on a thong, and bid them give it to their true love. It was during this circuit that he noticed someone approaching... someone who looked strangely familiar. With his neck festooned with the free trinkets, he jingled softly as he broke into a trot to meet the newcomer. "Why... you are the spitting image of my sister," he said with awe and delight. "Tell me, who might your parents be?" He beamed at the younger hyena with all the warmth of a friend, as if they had already met and become family years ago.
