Name: Daimon
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Sexual Preference: Heterosexual
Craft/Hall/Rank: Apprentice Healer (close to graduating)

Personality:
Protective, although not entirely overbearing, Daimon hates bullies, which is a little odd, because he's something of a bully himself. He frequently laughs when people do something stupid or painful and doesn't hesitate in telling people 'the truth' (in other words, he insults them and then thinly defends it by saying "well, its true"). He inherited all of his brother's honesty with none of his tact. Not to mention the one redeeming factor in Rowan's honesty is his ability to admit his own faults too, whereas in Daimon's opinion, he has none. Okay, that's a lie. But he'd never admit it to anyone else.

Bullying, then, is a matter of definition. To him, two people competing on equal footing is fine, and crying home about it because you lost is just pathetic. But anything one sided, anytime one person uses their position or power against another, is utterly unacceptable, and he's not afraid to stick his neck out for someone by saying so. He is blunt but honest, with a strong sense of justice and morality. He'd never make fun of people for something they can't help, or berate them for something that wasn't their fault. But if you deserved it, you should quit whining and accept your punishment.
Fortunately, this healer's apprentice has a strange sense of honor when it comes to his craft. No matter who you are, friend or foe, everyone gets the same care. He'll take you back to the infirmary and stitch you up, even if he was the one who put you there in first place.

Speaking of.. Daimon rarely starts a fight, but he relishes the opportunity. If there's someone he really doesn't like he'll goad them until they throw the first punch, then 'defend himself' by knocking them unconscious. The only exception is when it comes to his siblings, either in reality or by proxy. So if you have a problem with deaf kids, quiet kids, or girls, you may want to watch out. One wrong word and he could be on you faster than a hungry flitt on a freshly baked meatroll.

He may seem like the sterotypical mean big brother at first, teasing and tormenting his younger siblings, but it doesn't matter. Whenever they need him, Daimon is there in a heartbeat, and they both know it. In fact, Daimon tends to fret more than necessary when something bad happens, acting almost mother-hennish. His protectiveness can extend beyond his family, to anyone who reminds him of them, or anyone who gets particularly close to them, that he might consider family. This includes all of Rowan's friends, and all his sister's female friends. However, males are more likely to be met with suspicion and supreme defensiveness.

When he's in his element, Daimon has an ease of confidence that is almost infectious. And bedside manner aside, he has a real talent for healing. He has the self-assurance of a journeyman at least, and (for once) his confidence is not misplaced. He knows his stuff, and he knows he knows it, so he won't let anyone second guess him, whether they outrank him or not. He can act alone, he can keep his head in a crisis, and he knows when to shut up and follow someone else's directions too. It all comes down to the fact that healing is an art he understands, which means he knows who to respect and who's full of it. If some crackpot came in, called himself a Masterhealer, and ordered Daimon to do something he knows is harmful to his patient, he would refuse.

Its not that Daimon has a problem with authority ('highly suspicious of' would be a better way of describing his feelings towards them). If the authorities would simply do their job, the right way, without any hint of incompetence or corruption, they would get along fine. But really, when does that ever happen?
Daimon lives by the adage 'absolute power corrupts absolutely'. And he hates decisions in his life being dictated by anyone other than himself.

When caught alone or with a group of girls, Daimon can be quite charming. Polite, kind, empathetic, even.. Otherwise, he's in full boys-club mode, mocking, punching, laughing at, or brawling with anything that moves.

History:
If there's one thing Daimon considered lucky about his family life, it was that he was born with a twin. Astriana is his perfect partner, and the two of them spent most of their childhood together. And since their parents seemed to have little to no interest in raising children, it was up to them to look out for one another.

By the time he was eight turns, Daimon was already talking about apprenticing. Always a headstrong child, he was eager to start a craft, although reluctant to leave his sister and his family. His parents did not approve of his choice of craft, but they had come to expect it. Since he was young, Daimon had always been fascinated by the art of healing. Skipping straight past baby birds, he once brought home a massive stray canine with bite wounds and a broken leg and nursed it back to health (he once repeated the incident with a wild runnerbeast, but this he was not allowed to keep). Later he and his sister trained it together, and it eventually became the first iteration of Rowan's current "hearing 'lizard".

But Daimon stayed only a few turns in the Healer hall, before circumstances forced him home again. Their once infant brother was now growing up, and the full extent of his hearing issues were beginning to be felt. His parents, who were worried about appearances, kept him at home and then mostly ignored him. Fortunately, despite his rude nature, Daimon's dedication and talent had made him at least a few friends in the Healer Hall, and they were able to arrange for him to continue his training at the Hold, although at a somewhat reduced pace.

When told they were being sent to live with their uncle, Daimon was apprehensive at first. Their parents weren't exactly the most nuturing, but at least they were the 'devil you know'. As time went on, however, his uncle grew on him, although Daimon has always retained a kind of detachment from him.

Appearance:
Daimon's hair is somewhat long and jet black, a stark contrast from his sister's white-blonde, and from his own lighter skin and ice blue eye. He is not particularly tall, standing only a few inches above his sister, but he has wide shoulders and well defined muscles which are a clear warning to potential antagonists. He wears his sister's scowl in his eyes, this one meaner and slightly mocking. And, not being particularly flamboyant, he also favours simpler clothes.

Talents: Daimon has an unusual duo of talents; he's particularly good at putting people into the infirmary, and at taking care of them once they're there.

Pets: A bronze 'lizard called Mask (which he mostly uses to spy check up on his brother) as well as their family canine.
