What exactly is a Flight?
A flight is when a green or gold rises to mate. Here in Ista, our golds are known to rise two to three times every turn: during a pass, and every few years during an interval. Golds here will mate with bronzes, and browns, though ambitious blues are welcome to join in the chase!
Golds rise to clutch, and they lay between twelve and sixteen eggs at a time. Greens do not lay eggs: this was once believed to be because greens fought Thrrad and swallowed firestone. With the discovery of Aivas, the people of Pern found this was not so. Greens were biologically engired to be infertile by Kitti Ping to prevent small dragons. Greens rise up to six times a turn: all male dragons chase greens.
Regardless of color, during a mating flight, all riders share their dragon's emotions.
