If your hunter has ever gone off to a random outpost for plot reasons, or OOC reasons (hello, my own hiatuses!), your hunter often goes to an outpost. Post your headcanons here, so they can possibly get added to the external outpost list!

Amazon Outpost #4 - A low technology base, with two dilapidated buildings: one for the offices, and the other for bunking. All filing is done by hand initially, as are all experiment results. One person inputs them into a computer, which has somehow survived the 80s because runic power saves everything. It focuses on plants from Halloween and how they take root in the human world, and a few other vague things. Expect a lot of manual labour in the gardens, and careful data recording in ink on clipboards.

Antarctic Outpost #12 - A tiny outpost that consists of three tents. Led by a gruff older woman, it's more plagued by penguins and seals than anything else. Most of it is spent monitoring fear with some handheld devices, walking long perimeters, and being very cold.

Mexico Outpost #12 - Sierra de la Laguna - Baja California, Mexico - A small, cozy base settled on the edge of the Sierra de la Laguna pine-oaks forest. Three stories tall, brick, and a bit dated. It houses a steady roster of 7 hunters that are there long-term: most are there for six months minimum, and some have been there for years.

Every room equipped with a secondary beds, for the purpose of rotating in hunters in from the main island. Due to the current island population, there generally aren't more than two or three visiting hunters at a time.

There are no less than three ruins within a two hour bus drive. The first is an abandoned Famine lair, which has come back from being abandoned at least once since 1999. The second is a submerged one that is half underwater, and is actually a former hunter base from the 1970s, no longer in service due to flooding, overgrowth, and general disgusting. Due to an accident with experimentation in the late 90s, it's a bit of a honey trap for fear creatures, so beware. The third is an ruin from ancients, long since picked clean, but remains a nice place to visit.

The general atmosphere is homey: there is a laminated chore chart that gets updated once a week. (The chores are many: While there's running water, it's not potable, so all drinking water must be drawn from a well. All heat is done by woodstove, as is most cooking, so that's another one that needs to be done. Laundry, too, is done without a machine.) Breakfasts are served buffet style on the weekends, and in nice little brownbags to be picked up on the week days. Lunches are much the same-- in fact, both meals are picked up first thing in the morning before being carted to whichever site needs attention for the day. Dinners are a communal affair, with everyone doing a particular duty (ie: peeling, chopping, dishes, etc.)

There is a wall devoted to death-count of those that have served at the base since its inception, as corpses get transported to the main island and cremated, if they are recovered at all. Presently, the count is at 67, which includes the original research team lost when the Famine lair reactivated.

USA Outpust #92 - Sonoran Desert, Arizona - Not all deserts are in Africa, and the Sonoran Desert proves that just fine. This particular base records less than six inches of rain a year, and has plenty of sand dunes to go around for any horseman... Not that there's been any sightings since before 1999. The base, prairie homestead, was originally built to fit about a dozen hunters... but due to the lack of horseman sightings and general placidity, many of the rooms were converted to storage, or simply left in disrepair as it aged.

The outpost is suited for three people: and the only permanent fixture is an older woman by the name of Jinx, who lets every hunter know that supplies come less frequently than they do to larger bases. Since the outpost only three to four hours away by car to the nearest major city, she makes a weekly run for most basic necessities -- and keeps a larger emergency store of shelf stable supplies to accommodate.

The local wildlife has taken up residence in a canyon-- that turns into a cave system too narrow to spelunk-- about five miles from the Outpost, a swarm of strange, shadowling lizards that are no larger than a man's hand. They've got frills, tiny horns, and two tails, and their eyes glow any neon hue ranging from magenta to green. They are insistent about getting into the outpost, arguably simply because it is populated by hunters, so it is a perpetual losing battle to keep them out.

Every now and again, they fuse into a horrible mutant one that needs slaying-- but that's generally only if enraged.

Welcome to Arizona.

China Outpost #36 - A small clustering of tents and canopies at best, nested in a mountainside near the Yellow River. The outpost itself can't be reached by portal; instead hunters must portal to the bottom of the mountain and hike up to it. Thankfully the hike is short and only takes about 20-30 minutes. The outpost itself contains meager provisions (food, water, first aid) that have to be replaced frequently. There are also a number of small scale, low tech devices like radars and ambient measurement devices for monitoring purposes. The area itself is a small forest, steep sheer cliffsides and many terrifying rickety bridges over enormous chasms. Overall, a very extreme environment potentially not for the faint of heart.

While mostly cleared now, the mountainside contains ruins and remnants from the Battle of Zhuolu. There are many echoes of the past and the outpost often has to be defended from ghosts of soldier, commanders and other victims of war. There are also occasional sightings of things-that-aren't-quite-as-they-should-be such as birds with too many legs and whispers at the edge of your ears.

Mainly this outpost focuses on controlling the paranormal; the battle site has become a popular tourist location on the other side of the mountain, so hunters have a basic duty to ensure that superstitions don't become reality. There is also a strict focus on keeping hidden and avoiding the public; the goal is to protect the public without them finding out.

Belgian Outpost #3 - South Belgium, in the Waloon region, just outside of Châtelet. It's a small outpost in what used to be a church up in the hills surrounding Châtelet, far enough away to not disturb the town itself. Despite its outward dilapidated appearance, the inside is organized and efficient. The base's main use is as a way-point for traveling hunters and storage/distribution of information relevant to European hunter activities, mainly hardcopy.

The staff is small, and mostly Death division. Thierry heads the base; Franco and Mayumi are a few of the hunters stationed there. Most hunters do not rotate through this base, but instead stop to resupply or pick up additional mission information (if available) before moving on. As such, many of the hunters stationed here do not see combat, except when something odd turns up on a scouting mission.

When the base was established, running water was set up, along with working electricity. However, the power often goes out every time it rains. They buy a lot of candles.
