Personality: Rowan is honest to the point of being blunt (or more often to the point of being rude). Which, you can imagine can cause some tension with his siblings when he casually blurts out a secret or a harsh truth. 'What did Daimon get me for nameday?' or 'Does this dress make me look fat?' are some good questions not to ask him. But this honesty doesn't only extend to spilling secrets and slagging off his friends, Rowan is honest with himself and honest with others about himself. He won't make excuses or lie to cover up a mistake, he doesn't flatter himself, and he never hides his emotions. Although he may not show them on his face, anyone adept in reading body language could read him like an open book. It's not enough to believe in honesty only when it pertains to others, you have to embrace the concept with regards to yourself as well. At least, that's what he thinks. His philosophy may get him in trouble at times, particularity with his superiors, who may take his honesty as disrespectful, but Rowan believes the exact opposite. To hide the truth would be patronizing, to lie would be the greatest disrespect. But if people learn to accept his lack of decorum, what they will get in return is someone you can trust to always give you their honest opinion, who never makes excuses for himself or for anyone else, and to whom it would never even occur to use manipulation and flattery as a means to advance his position. When genuinely entrusted with something in confidence, he will simply refuse to tell, but he won't hide the fact that he knows the secret.
A little bit neurotic and a little bit OCD, Rowan is easy to frustrate: just move his stuff around his workshop. He may glare and grumble, but he'll rarely get angry. At least he knows his obsessions are irrational. Rowan is studious in his work, sometimes getting so absorbed in it that he loses track of everything else. Introverted, although not particularly shy, Rowan may have trouble making friends. In fact, 'friends' doesn't even enter into his vocabulary. There's just people he knows and people he doesn't know, and of he ones he knows there are some he likes more than the others. But it's best that others consider him a friend, because he's likely to drop all formality after just the first meeting, regardless of age, rank, or importance.
History: Rowan's parents were never the most supportive. Worried about appearances, they forbid him from associating with others in the Hold, and it's not like he could learn much from teaching songs anyway. They didn't think he could handle a craft, so they kept him at home, and Rowan was raised almost entirely by his older brother and sister. Finally, Rowan's uncle, a Smitchcrafter, convinced his parents to let the siblings travel to the Weyr where Rowan could become his apprentice. After some persuasion, they agreed, and the siblings arrived in the Weyr.
Talents: Rowan is still improving as a smith, but already shows good attention to detail and skill. He also seems have a knack with animals.
Pets: Blue 'hearing' lizard, Nimbus
Notes: Although deaf, Rowan can lip read well, and is able to speak although he'd self conscious about talking in front of strangers, so few know that but his siblings and close friends
Appearance: Rowan is small for his age, often giving the appearancce of being younger. He has the same fair hair as his sister and soft features, and the same ice-blue eyes as the rest of his family. His hair is medium length, slightly curly, with a ruffled look.
