Against better judgement, I'd love to get some feedback and suggestions on a special scenario I'm working on for the usual Sunday Funday events that my FLGS is running every first Sunday of the month. In this case, something revolving around monstrous creatures. I've run this one before, but it ended up horribly broken sadly, much to the amusement of the participants. So, second time round, with more feeling and more fine-tuning. I'm not looking for a super perfect scenario, but rather something that plays fast, is more or less exploit free and can be presented to a diverse group of players ranging from the disgustingly casual to WAAC jerks.

Here's the whole thing, translated into a more friendly Engrish:

+ + + BACKGROUND + + +

CITIZENS OF MATCHSTICK CITY, TAKE COVER! RUN FOR THE HILLS! QUAKE IN FEAR! SOIL YOURSELF WITH TERROR! THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO TO STOP THEM!

OR. IS. THERE?

Requirements: Each player brings along a monstrous creature or a model that can pass as one.

Teams: The players will be split into one of two teams: Monsters and Mechas.

Objective: The team with the most points wins. Points can be scored through the killing of opposing players and capturing the central objective on the board.

+ + + RULES + + +

The big draw is that the players can bring any monstrous creature or borrow one and using a generic set of stats, partake in the scenario. We've deliberately opted for a universal stat-line because not all monstrous creatures are the same, nor does everybody have a 40k model at their disposal. So to avoid a veritable spam of Rapetides and *insert other super monstrous creature here*, there's that to counter it.

Each player starts out with the following stats and special rules:

WS 3
BS 3
S 5
T 5
W 3
I 3
A 2
Ld 10
SV 4+

Special rules: Eternal Warrior, Move Through Cover, Relentless (Smash has been left out, so no AP 2 melee attacks)

To keep things interesting and diverse, every player gets 50 pts to spend on stat boosts, attacks and special abilities.

* Stats may be boosted twice (Only exceptions being toughness and the armour save, which may only be boosted once to T6 / 3+). The first time you boost a stat it costs you 10 pts, if you want to boost the same stat again it will cost you 25 pts (Example, +2 WS is 35 pts, 10 pts for the first boost, 25 for the second one) You are allowed to boost more than one stat, points permitting (Example, +2 WS, +1 Sv = 45 pts)
* Weapon entries have their respective cost listed (You may take a weapon more than once, so more shots!)
* All special abilities are 10 pts each unless noted otherwise

Attacks:
Atomic Fire Breath (Template S6 AP4 heavy 1) - 10 pts
Beam Sword (S user, AP 4, melee) - 10 pts
Cannon Attack (48" S7 AP4 Heavy 2) - 15 pts
Flare Launcher (24" S4 AP- Heavy 1, Blind, One Shot) - 5 pts
Laser Eyes (48", S8, AP1, Heavy 1, Beam attack) - 15 pts
Missile Barrage (24" S4 AP4 Heavy 4) - 10 pts

Special abilities - each costs 10 pts:
CONCUSSIVE
FEEL NO PAIN (5+)
FLEET
FURIOUS CHARGE
IT WILL NOT DIE
RAGE
SHRED

+ + + SCENARIO + + +

The scenario is quite simple: Both teams start at one side of the board and are tasked with killing one another, along with fighting for a central objective. Each turn a side can hold onto the objective uncontested grants the team one extra point.

As for the duration, there is no turn limit, as we usually play from 13:00 until around 17:00, with one or two breaks in between instead.

+ + + ENCOUNTERS + + +

This is something the players from the first time round really want, for random s**t to happen! Because you know, killing each other gets boring after a while or something. So far I want to use the following encounters, I'm open to suggestions on other encounters, along with some good ideas on how to best let these trigger and pop up in the game.

Marbo! - An angry Marbo jumps out of a building and attacks the nearest model.

Centurion(s)! - A Centurion with a gravity cannon (Or Centurions armed with heavy bolters) deep-strikes into the fray.

Satellite rain! - What it says on the tin, indiscriminate fire from the heavens. A high strength, high AP template attack, preferably using the Apocalypse size size template, though I am toying with the idea of starting off with a small blast template and working up to the 10" template as the game progresses, representing the kill-sat restrictions being lifted one by one by the military.

+ + + WHAT AM I LOOKING FOR? + + +

- Feedback
- Suggestions for weapons and USR's
- Ideas on how to best trigger and apply the random encounters
- Any other neat ideas that are easy to implement and do NOT require a whole lot of ruling and tracking and whatnot!
- Should the terrain be destroyable? As in, allow the teams to knock down buildings and whatnot. If so, should there be any bonuses from doing so?
- What would you like to see?

Lt. Brookman
- Ideas on how to best trigger and apply the random encounters
Divide the board into six one foot zones and roll a D6 at the start of every team turn, apply the desired random encounter to this zone.

The severity of the encounter can hinge on how much destruction has been done to the city, in form of a special modifier of sorts. See it as a desperate government getting more and more desperate in their dealings with the rampaging monsters and mecha.

Destroying terrain does fit in with the genre, though it may give ranged builds more of an edge.

You could replace destroyed buildings with craters and video game like power-ups or bonus abilities like a restoration of all lost wounds, a single-shot lethal weapon or another random encounter roll.

1-2: Bonus weapon
3-4: All lost wounds restored, if no wounds were lost, gain one temporary extra wound instead
5-6: Orbital bombardment
