Kushindwa plodded along, twigs stuck in his mane. He'd crashed into another bush, again, and this time Madaha hadn't been around to fish him out. So not only were there twigs, there were some leaves, too. And a bird... But he wasn't sure why the bird was there, only that it was, and it didn't seem to MIND. That was just as well, so long as it eventually left.
The opportunity arose a lot sooner than the lion had hoped. As he looked at a giraffe in passing, he entirely missed the rock in his path. As his front paw caught it, he went falling forward, the bird fluttering off in alarm, and rolled several feet before crashing into ANOTHER bush. This time he lay there, upside down and staring out at the upside down world, only blinking. "Good grief..."

Legea was having a fairly good day. He was feeling content in his life, having mastered the art of hunting without being trampled or gored, and managing to exist without injury or embarrassment for a fairly long stretch of time.
It was a small miracle, really, and he was gladly going to take it. Maybe he was just finally growing out of what his sister had promised a long time ago was just an 'awkward phase'. She'd managed to grow out of it, after all, and was a capable and confident adult female who did not bump into others, trip over her own paws, or say the wrong thing.
Or if she did, she hid it well.
Legea was doing his best to work to that end, but there was just something in his genes getting in the way. He knew that his father had a reputation for being a bit of a fail. It seemed the genes passed on stronger as time went by, and as Hadaya's bad luck improved, it had to be transferred elsewhere. To his kids, obviously.
Legea sighed and padded along, not really blaming his dad for anything. He stopped when he saw a lion roll into a bush. Probably on accident, because who wanted to do that for fun? Feeling hopeful that he was meeting someone who had the same issues he had, he bounced forward to help, then recognized the colors and markings on the fallen lion.
"Oh, hey, bro. What are you doing? You have stuff in your mane." And was also the wrong way up.

Paws were coming. Familiar paws... And a familiar smell. He looked up - Or down from his perspective - and, though upside down, recognized Legea. "Oh... Hi, Legea." He frowned. "I crashed into a bush earlier... And then another." He wiggled, then flopped over onto his side.
As the world began to tilt back to where it needed to be, he pushed himself up, only for his paw to find itself resting on a rock that went the OTHER way, ending up right back on the ground. Kushindwa let out a huff, before placing his paws much more carefully so he could sit up. At that moment, the bird returned, settling in his hair. His eyes went crossed for a moment as he looked up at it, frowning. Yup, that bird WANTED to be in his hair.
When the world had finished righting itself, he stood up. "If I didn't go rolling once an hour, I'd say it was a good day for a walk." He paused. "Or a roll." He looked at the bush. "If these bushes weren't everywhere, I'd have to say I need to just roll everywhere..." He snapped his eyes to his brother. "How's today for you?"

"Bushes are kind of jerks," Legea said with a nod, and it did not really sound like he was kidding. he had a lot of run ins with bushes, rocks and trees, and knew that, though they were supposed to be parts of nature and not hostile in any way, they could be infuriatingly mean spirited.
He watched as his brother tried to get to his feet and failed miserably, wincing. At least he didn't have it quite as bad as Kushindwa seemed to, but he wouldn't say that out loud. If he started to gloat about it, he'd probably get struck by lightning or something likewise horrific and unlikely.
Especially since it was a clear day.
"Today is better for me than it is for you, I think. I haven't fallen down yet, at least." He paused to think about it, just to be sure. Had he fallen down...? No, he didn't think so. It was hard, sometimes, to remember, and keep the days from blurring together.
"But I've been pretty stationary for most of it. That probably helps."

He gave a sagely nod. "They just jump out in front of us sometimes, I swear it..." Okay, that was more a JOKE, though they DID have a strange habit of being right there in the way. Of course, there was that one time when he was a juvenile and rolled down the back of Pride Rock... He'd REALLY wished he'd run into a bush to stop his rolling, but that day the bushes managed to stay out of HIS way and get in Madaha's way instead.
Kushindwa reached up, plucking a leaf-covered twig from his mane. "No falling? Yeah, your day is MUCH better so far." He tilted his head, considering the stationary bit. "Yeah, that probably DOES help... Hm.." He scratched his chin. "I should try that for the rest of the day... Closer to Pride Rock." Of course, knowing his luck, he'd probably end up falling off the rock anyway...

Legea smiled at his sibling and nodded his head. They were both well familiar with the hazards of the landscape, for more so than most lions had to become. It was the downfall of their genetics, he supposed, though sometimes he wondered if it was just them psyching themselves out and forcing weird things to happen.
Who knew?
"I'd stay away from any place high up, to be honest." He laughed at the idea, shaking his head slowly. The last thing he would want to do on a day where he kept falling down was give himself a farther distance to fall. That was just asking for trouble, almost literally. He grinned.
"Anyway, I think I am going to go find myself a snack or something. I'm not up to much but I haven't really eaten yet, and I could go for food." Depending on how hard food was to catch, of course. "You want to get something?"

Kushindwa thought about it, a slight frown on his face. "Yeah, staying away from high places WOULD be a good idea... But to be fair, there was this one time I rolled down the back of Pride Rock... We didn't know I'd do that yet, and Madaha wanted to show me something up at the top..." Now he didn't go too high up if he could help it, and when the pride filtered to the dens, Madaha would push Kushindwa up just so he didn't roll back down.
His ears pricked up, eyes lighting up. Food! "I AM getting rather hungry..." He stood up, stretching and trying to not fall over. Miraculously, his paws missed any rocks and he remained vertical. "I'm up for hunting!"

"Oh, that sounds painful."
Legea winced a bit, imagining the height of the rock and how uneven the back was. There was not really an even spot on it, so bouncing all the way down was probably more accurate a description than rolling. He frowned at the image of his family just bouncing off everything until they reached the floor. There were only a couple of his known family members that he could not easily see doing that.
Sigh.
"Maybe I'll do the hunting and you can take a break."
He chuckled and shook his head, though he meant it. He didn't want Kushindwa to suffer even more mishaps and maybe getting some food brought for him would make his day a little easier and a bit better.
