Talia rolled her eyes a little.
"Thank you." She hoped that he would be able to help, if he couldn't it would be a case of waiting to see if they improved without the water.
"We'll need to get some snow to boil up. I brought some tea with me that should help flush their systems."

Isambard looked around the hall to the tiny people. They looked very sickly indeed and he wondered if the doctor was going to be able to help them, if there was poison in their water supply it did not bode well, the snow would only last for the winter he imagined.
"I will get the men to gather up some snow. Azriel and Cyrus will come with me to check the source of the water."

Azriel glanced around the large hall then turned his eyes to Isambard.
"Are you certain that you need me my lord? There are a lot of people here. Talia may need help delivering her tea and tending to them. Plus if this oaf wakes up... I would rather she not be alone," he smirked lightly and lightly nudged the man that had threatened them with his foot.

Isambard looked to the man on the floor and then to Talia.
"Good point." he agreed. "Once Cyrus has taken a look at the water we'll go in search of the water source, check to see what's what."

Freja approached the gathering with a clay bowl between her hands.
"This comes straight from the spring," she said as she held it out.

Cyrus looked down at the small woman and randomly decided she reminded him of someone from his past. Carefully he took the bowl from her and he lifted it to examine it. First he smelled it and then he dipped a finger in to taste it. It did not seem out of the ordinary. Breathing in deeply, he glanced briefly to Isambard, then closed his eyes to concentrate. It took him a moment and he could feel the exhaustion dragging his powers down. Pushing through it, he took another deep breath and focused on the water. After a moment, he opened his eyes and looked to Talia.
"It does not feel right," he announced and held the bowl out to her.

Isambard watched the process, the woman bringing the water and the woman checking it. When the Djinn said that something wasn't right he held his hands out to show he wanted to look at it.
"Can I take a look please."

Cyrus turned to Industry and held the bowl out to him.
"I'm not sure if it is poisoned or not. It just does not feel right to me. I cannot tell what is wrong with it," he said softly.

"It did not taste any different and it comes from the same source that it has for centuries," Freja said as she watched the two strange men.

Isambard took the bowl and lifted it up to his nose. He sniffed it and then took a sip. He tasted the water for a moment and then looked up to Cyrus.
"Metal, there's metal in this water." He said finally. "Do you draw the water straight from the well and bring it to the village, you don't use pipes?"

Cyrus looked down at the water and then reached out to take it back. Taking a proper sip, he nodded in agreement. There was definitely a sharp taste there, odd for a mountain spring.

"It flows through a track system throughout the village. The system is cut into the stone of the mountain," Freja replied. "Every so often we have to replenish the tracks to help filter the water and keep the water from cutting to deep into the stone. We use gravel we pull up from the earth."

"Lead, lead poisons people, it makes them sick and crazy." Talia said at the mention of metal. "It must be getting into the system somehow."

"Have there been earthquakes?" He asked, something like that might have exposed a seam of ore. "Cyrus and I will go and investigate the well, hopefully we will be able to find the source of the problem." Though if it was below ground it would be difficult, it might be that they would have to find them another water source.

Freja breathed in deeply and looked to her son.
"No. No earthquakes. But a mine collapsed. My son had stopped listening about the dangers," she said softly. "If you follow the tracks, they will lead you to the stream and that will lead you to the source."

“Okay, we’ll investigate. It might be that we will need to find an alternative source of water if we cannot reach the problem.” Not something he really wanted to get roped into but he suppose that it wouldn’t be a bad thing. They’d be indebted either way. “Cyrus, shall we take a look?”

Cyrus breathed in deeply and nodded.
"Yes my lord," he replied and handed the bowl back to the old woman. He would much rather be out in the fresh air than be cooped up with a bunch of sick people in a claustrophobic building. "Let's follow the water," he smiled slightly and turned to search out the system that had been described.
