Humanoid Races

Besides the four races that consider themselves to be civilized, there are far more races that meet the definition of humanoid. Some of these races share equal levels of intelligence with the civilized races. Some have their own cultures and laws. Some, do not, and act more like the beasts of the world than a "Civilized" creature. For this reason or another, these races are considered lesser beings, exempted from inclusion in society, and even hunted as monsters.

Goblins
User Image

Description

Small, ugly, primitive. These three words sum up the goblin race. Goblins are small creatures with large pointed floppy ears, squashed features, and a mean disposition. Goblins are, as stated, very primitive, and live a scavenger lifestyle. They steal the scraps of more powerful races to dress and arm themselves, and whatever they make for themselves is usually cobbled together from bits and pieces of junk. Despite their generally low intelligence however, goblins often form complex societies, complete with royalty and militaries. They are a very aggressive species as well, and it is not uncommon to find goblin war camps scattered across the wilds, or goblins ambushing a caravan. And while they are generally weak, they almost always attack in large numbers, and can easily overwhelm an unprepared opponent. While not the most intelligent of creatures, goblins can be quite tricky, and it's best for anyone attempting to hunt them to be ready for anything.

Requirements

► Goblins are available by application only.

Statistics

Average Height: The average adult goblin stands anywhere from two to three feet in height.
Average Weight: Goblins can weigh anywhere from 30 to 60 pounds.
Alignment: Neutral
Language: Goblin, Some goblins also display a weak grasp of Civilization Standard, though this is mostly limited to insulting those they know to speak the language.

Diet: Omnivorous
Food Points: 50
Metabolism: Half

Racial Traits

Scavenger: Goblins are a species of scavengers, collecting anything they can find or steal and using it to build anything they need, and showing surprising skill with what they make.
► May substitute any similar material for another in Crafting or Handicraft recipes.

Small Muscles: Goblins, being so small, have a difficult time carrying large and heavy items, and become quite easily encumbered as a result.
► Can only lift 5 Pounds per Strength Point.

Hibagon
User Image

Description

The Hibagon are massive humanoid beasts, that tower above most other humanoids. Hibagon are covered in a thick coat of fur, somewhat resembling a large monkey. Most hibagon prefer to live in forests and wild areas, and live off of the land, though some can be found in ruined areas of civilization, living in the husks of old buildings.. They are omnivores, eating both plants and animals, though they do not cook their meat. Hibagon prefer to fight unarmed, but have been known to fashion primitive weapons such as spears and clubs. Hibagon are not considered to be intelligent creatures, as they show no aptitude for magic, and speak only the beast's tongue.

Requirements

► Hibagon are available by application only.

Statistics

Average Height: The average hibagon stands at an impressive nine to ten feet tall.
Average Weight: With a weight to match their height, hibagons average four to five hundred pounds in weight.
Alignment: Neutral
Language: Beast Tongue

Diet: Omnivorous
Food Points: 300
Metabolism: Double

Racial Traits

Animal Senses: An animal's senses are highly advanced. They can identify a weak scent from a distance of several feet, or a strong one from as much as a mile, and even smell emotions on another creature. They can hear subtle sounds, like the changing of the wind or ants walking across the ground, and so on. All of an animal's senses are to this degree, unless specified otherwise.
► All senses but Touch and Sight enhanced.

Extreme Strength: Hibagon are massive creatures of extreme strength, being far more physically powerful than most other creatures of similar level.
► +3 Strength per Character Level

Magical Impotence: Hibagons simply have no use for magic, as it is almost never a factor in their lives, and most never even attempt to learn it. Those that do, find that a lack of use isn't the only reason their race doesn't bother with it.
► x4 SP cost to increase Magic. x2 SP Cost to learn Spells, x2 Energy cost to cast Spells.

Racial Skills

Beast Roar
Description: By unleashing a mighty roar in the close vicinity of an opponent's head, large beasts are able to disrupt the target's inner ear by force of volume alone. The disruption of the inner ear causes the victim to have a difficult time finding their balance, rendering them incapable of performing any act requiring much agility. The target's Agility stat is temporarily reduced by half of the user's base Strength. This effect lasts for three posts, or until the victim is able to make a resting post. The victim is also rendered temporarily deaf, for the full three posts.

Hibagon Muscle Enhancement
Prerequisites: Level 5
SP Cost: 10
Energy Cost: 10
Description: Naturally strong creatures already, Hibagon have also learned a method of increasing their strength even further. By flooding their muscles with energy, the hibagon is able to double their maximum strength. For a more powerful creature, this can allow the hibagon to lift, or even smash, things most other races wouldn't believe possible. Using it for more than Five Posts however, causes severe muscle damage, cutting the user's Strength by half, until they have rested for at least two consecutive posts per post the skill was used, or been healed in some way. Every Five Posts active will halve Strength again, and double the resting time required.

Troll
User Image

Description

Big, Smelly, Ugly. These three words are some of those more regularly used to describe the common troll. Unusually large creatures, trolls live a mostly sedentary life, preferring to live in dark damp places and wait for food to come to them. This lead to the common fable of trolls living under bridges, as a bridge can be a nearly optimal home for a troll, though many would be just as happy in a sewer or lakeside cave.

Trolls are large creatures, standing much taller than many races if they even choose to stand at all. With their arms unusually long, often reaching beyond their knees, and the odd growths that occur at random across their almost universally hairless skin, they are not at all what one could consider attractive. With their sedentary lifestyle and preferred living places, many trolls are outright filthy, and it's not uncommon for one to have fungi growing on their body. Far from being disgusted by this as most races would be, trolls consider it a blessing, as they can eat the fungus rather than going in search of food.

Trolls are mostly peaceful, keeping to themselves, but will not hesitate to snatch an unwary creature as it passes by for an easy meal. And when provoked, a troll can be far more dangerous than they appear, as they are far stronger than their appearance and lifestyle would imply. Trolls are not a social species, and it is in fact rare to find more than one troll within several miles of each other if they are not breeding, but they do find other species fascinating, as more than a few adventurers have told of escaping an encounter with a troll purely by virtue of entertaining it with stories long enough to escape.

Requirements

► Trolls are available by application only.

Statistics

Average Height: The average adult troll falls between seven and nine feet in height.
Average Weight: An adult troll, with ample feeding, can weigh as much as six hundred pounds.
Alignment: Neutral
Language: Trolls can learn any language with sufficient exposure to it, but have none of their own.

Diet: Omnivorous
Food Points: 400
Metabolism: Double

Racial Traits

Troll Blood: A troll's blood is a surprisingly potent healing substance, highly sought after by merchants and alchemists alike for it's healing properties. A troll though, has this healing elixer running through it's very veins, and benefits greatly from it, being able to heal from nearly any wound given enough time. Even lost limbs will grow back fairly quickly. Trolls scar when healed, and it is easy to tell when a troll has recently regrown a limb by looking at where their scars end and unmarred flesh begins.
► Minor wounds such as non-critical cuts and stabs regenerate within one post while resting, or three in combat. Major wounds such as critical cuts and stabs affecting organs regenerate within three posts while resting, or five in combat. Critical wounds such as lost limbs regenerate slowly over time, completely healing within ten posts even if the limb is completely removed. Inconsequential cuts and scrapes regenerate almost instantly.

Troll's Strength: Despite their lifestyle, trolls boast a surprising level of strength, often being able to snatch even a heavily armored warrior and hold him against his will, by sheer virtue of strength.
► +2 Strength Per Character Level

Language Osmosis: Trolls are accustomed to sitting out of sight of other intelligent races, in places they'd rather not go, and remain unnoticed. Often a troll is able to listen in when passing creatures talk to each other, and through snippets here and there over time, are able to assemble their own basic understanding of a language.
► May choose to learn a new language after hearing it spoken across 15 non-consecutive posts. Languages still cost SP to learn. Language will not be fully mastered until it has been heard over at least 50 posts from fluent speakers.

Low Intelligence: Trolls, while fascinated by all forms of learning and loving to learn new things, are quite frankly, stupid. As much as they love to learn, it takes a troll twice as long to understand even the simplest concepts as it would a mere child of another race.
► x2 SP to increase Intelligence. x2 SP cost to learn Spells, languages, and Int based skills.
