It was coming to the end of a long tiring day. He had helped a neighbor of his with some cutting some wood down, the older taur wasn't as strong as he used to be, and Naum out of the goodness of his heart went over often to lend a hand with things that couldn't be done by the other. After many hours of what felt like back breaking word, Naum was on the road home, an ache in his shoulders, but contentment in his heart. He had just reached into the pack hanging from his shoulder to pull out something to snack on during the walk back home when a young one came dashing closer, and he side stepped a little, only to have her look up at him with wide, pleading eyes and say how hungry she was. Without thought, he handed over the food he himself had been about to eat and watched her run off. Naum gave a rueful smile as his belly rumbled but he ignored it and continued on. He was something of a push over when it came to helping others hating to say no. He spotted some fruit clinging to a tree and with a smile grabbed it and bit into it with a content hum. This would hold him over till he got home.

Keen eyes had watched the scene with the young one play out, and quite eagerly moved to bring a smug smile to their user. As Charlemagne moved out onto the main road his paws walked with a solidarity only known to the devious. Behind him rolled his wagon, pulled by magic alone, and covered in the manner of a gypsy train. Inside was an untold amount of treasures, some real and most fake, all of which he was prepared to sell at the drop of a hat for the right price.
With his son off doing spirits only knew what after their last spat, Charlemagne was free to pick upon his prey as he wished, which was exactly why he had come up on the Cervitaur. "Good evening, stranger. I saw what you did back there, with the girl, and I wanted to say how rewarding it is to see a good deed in action." Very rewarding indeed. "Can I interest you in a warm drink, or something more than fruit, to make up for your lost food?"

Naum's mouth was quite busy assaulting the bit of fruit he'd plucked from the tree branch when he was addressed, and he half turned, juice dripping from his chin which he quickly wiped away as he finished chewing the bite he'd taken a curious look given to Charlemagne as he approached. Though he couldn't help a slightly embarrassed flush to cross his face a moment as he cleared his throat. "It was no big deal. The child needed it more than I did to be truthful." His free hand rubbed the back of his neck with a rueful smile on his face. Though the offer of a warm drink on such a chilly early evening did sound delightful. "A warm drink you say? I wouldn't be against one to fortify myself for the rest of my trip home." it had been a long day full of work and now that he was more idle he was feeling the n** in the air a little more than he was before.

Oh yes, he looked absolutely deliciously innocent. Charlemagne would have cackled if he had that lack of style, but seeing as he had class, he merely smiled brightly. "No, no, friend, it was a good deed! Something anyone in these cold months wouldn't think twice about passing up." Himself included. He would have chased the little beggar off.
Charlemagne placed a piece of wood around the rear wheel of his caravan and opened the door, illuminating the cramped, yet stylish quarters within. With a wave of his hand the pot and a few tea leaves floated towards him, along with a few fine china cups. "Would you mind building a fire while I get this started?" He could do it all, but better to space it out, so he wouldn't needlessly dirty his hands.

Naum was oblivious to the thoughts running around in Charlemagne's head and if he'd known he'd have been on his merry way! Instead he was being swayed by the others complimentary words on the simple act he'd done. "Name's Naum." he smiled at the other as he spoke. He'd met one or two Cattaur to do a little trading, but never to have much of anything else to do with them. So it was with wide eyes he watched the magic within. He was always awe struck by magic ever since he'd been a child. So this was a feast for his eyes! At the request for a fire there was a nod of his head and he moved to gather some rocks to make a fire. "I can do that no trouble." and it wasn't...well okay a little. He was already worn out and so gathering rocks for the fire ring...and then some wood which he stacked carefully wore on him more. Finally he knelt and saw to getting the fire started. Once it started to crackle he held his hands out to it. That was nice!

"A pleasure, Naum," Lifting his hand, the cattaur gave a little wave to the tea leaves, picking the finest from his stock before sending the others back into he wagon. By the time it was all said and done he had a pot ready for the finest drinks he had ever created, all with a purpose far more sinister than the tender scents could perceive. "My name is Charlemagne de Scalariis, old family name, you know, but please call me Charlemagne."
Oh, yes, even better to have enchanted the sad sap! With a little smile, he gave a little more flourish to his magic than he should have, causing the tea leaves to change colors matching each of their coats, giving them a little Autumn feel. Something to impress his latest target.
"Thank you, friend. I really appreciate it." Fixing the spoke in his hands, he set the kettle to warm above the fire, and settled himself beside it. "So, Naum, why are you out here on such a chilly day by yourself? Surely you've got family, or friends waiting for you?"

Naum's gaze kept drifting a little towards Charlemagne as he worked his magic, feeling as entranced by it now as an adult as he had as a child. It was amusing how somethings apparently didn't change with time. "Nice to meet you Charlemagne." it certainly was! Naum was the sort that enjoyed meeting new individuals, especially interesting ones like the Cattaur here! "My pleasure to get the fire going. As for me, well I was helping an older centaur up the road bring in firewood and doing other chores since he isn't able to easily anymore." just further proof this one would go out of his way to help others. There was a shake of his head and a smile. "Mmm no. No one waiting on me. My best friend has been off on a hunting spree, she's the only one who'd wonder where I was if she came by. Otherwise it's just me. What about you? Looks like you spend all your time traveling, surely you have people that miss you while you're on the road." Naum warmed himself beside the fire, enjoying the heat and clueless to any sinister plots being brewed.
