The Nutcracker Prince
Name: Drosselmeyer
Nickname: Dross
Gender: Male
Elements: Nutcracker, Jointed Doll, Deadwood
Event: Won in 2013 Christmas Nutcracker Themed Event
Physical Traits: Crown of branches around his head, hidden mouth on his stomach between his abs, root style hands and feet, visible happy trail just above his pants (because I notice these things)
Personality: Dross is a very regal individual. Good manners and being well dressed and clean are very important to him. He carries himself as royalty but does not have the haughty attitude associated with it. He can be morose at times, staring out the window on a rainy day lamenting the dreariness of life and nature. He feels he understand death and the cycle of life better than most given his element and story. He seems happiest when out in nature, particularly a garden or a park where trees grow; especially nut bearing trees.
Likes: Clean and pressed clothes, a fine wine, intelligent conversation, plants, anything containing nuts
Dislikes: Rowdy and disrespectful people, messy rooms, fire
InspirationDrosselmeyer was inspired by The Nutcracker Prince ballet. He is special in The Basement as he has three elements verses the normal two of other Hexes. Each plays a roll in his personality.
The Nutcracker itself is an item used to crack hard shell nuts. It is painted in the form of a King, a Knight, or a Solider as they were considered strong and powerful figures. It inspired a beautiful and well known ballet about a young girl who enters a magical world ruled by the Nutcracker Prince. Because of this Dross does consider himself a true prince and acts as such. He has excellent manners, is always dressed appropriately, and carries himself as an example.
The Jointed Doll is a popular creation in Japan and other countries where a very articulate doll can be made and posed. It can be customized to precisely what the creator wants it to be from eye color, hair style, clothing, and body type. This gives Dross a more fluid way of moving rather than the stiff walk of a nutcracker doll. He is very flexible, however he will not speak of it in polite company as it is not a public topic.
Lastly there is the dead wood element. This is the natural element in Dross's DNA. It connects him to the cycle of life that few wish to explore. But Dross see's this different from others. All wood is dead once you remove it from ground and yet it can be made into the most beautiful artwork and sculpture. Even driftwood is a common theme for decoration. Not only does his element connect him to plant life but it also makes him more conscious of his looks and his appearance.
