Eliaus laid in the floor of the library, her nose in a book. Although she knew it would have been very benefital to be sleeping instead of reading a unhelpful kids book about dreams, Eliaus couldn't help but continue reading, even though the book was meant for ten-year-olds. She had just finished working a volunteer shift for the poor, understaffed library and originally intended to just check out three books (having recently limited herself to only three so she would actually get work done after she finished three, instead of having to read three hundred before anything got done) and go home to rest. It was Sunday after all, her usual day of rest. Church, volunteer shift, then home. It was the perfect plan for her, but, of course, it never worked out. She always got talking, or distracted. That particular day's distraction was a new children's book that had caught her eye. It was on dreams, her biggest issue lately. If the book hadn't been a kids book she would have just checked it out, but it was a kids book, and Eliaus knew she could read it in under thirty minutes, so she had found herself a bean bag and begun to read.
Once Eliaus finished the book she began to put the book back where she had found it, but a splash of pink that she saw out of the corner of her eye made her change her mind. She remembered the young girl with pink hair having a particular interest in books about dreams lately. She had seen the girl many times, but only made occasional small talk, not wanting to scare the girl since her parents were never around. Although, she had also wanted to talk to the young girl for that exact reason. "Hey, this one may strike your fancy, hm? You like dreams and stuff like that, right?" She asked as she ordered the book out to the girl. "It's below your reading level from what I've seen, but I just read it, and it's not that bad."

Fiona had been just about ready to leave, she had only just remembered that there was one more section she had meant to check and was just about to turn around when a familiar voice caught her attention. She hadn't spoken to this older girl much, but she was in the library about as often as Fiona herself, and that's why the voice was familiar. Fiona knew she volunteered here, but she didn't know her name, and they hadn't really spoken.
Sometimes when people approached her in public, Fiona was really shy and skeptical, all she usually heard was 'Where's your mum? Are you lost?', so she was thankful that this girl was offering her a book, just striking up conversation like she was a regular person- which she considered herself to be- and she looked at it meekly out of the corner of her eye and then looked up into the older girls eyes.
"Oh yes, I do." Fiona said, brushing aside her bangs and putting her hands together behind her back. She shuffled her feet a little and shrugged. "Well that's a nice thing to say...I guess you see a lot of what people check out, hmm?" She said, smiling and nodding politely at the young woman. She reached out for the book with an eager, almost pleading expression in her eyes.
"Thank you, I could bring this back right away I bet..." She said with a little mischievous grin.

Eliaus was glad when the girl didn't freak out or anything of that nature, as children occasionally did when she knew their preferences. Eliaus had to admit, some people's reactions to her suggestions were amusing. Many clearly didn't pay attention to their surroundings at all. She was glad the pink haired girl before her did.
The brunette nodded, then paused a moment to yawn before continuing. "Excuse me." She said politely, she made habit to do so the first few times she yawned around someone she didn't know too well. Although the reweaving did seem to help, Eliaua was still a bit more tired than she usually was. "Yep, it's honestly a bit funny to freak unobservant people out by talking with them about their book likings. It's a good way to scare off boys." She wore a sleepy, but friendly and warm smile on her face.I doubt it would take you long at all, I just read it in about a half an hour, you could probably do the same. May I a-" Again, Eliaus yawned, and again she politely apologized before continuing. "May I ask why you have such an interest in dreams anyway? I agree, they are very fascinating, but not totally the normal fetish. When I was your age, I admit, I was a little overly obsessed with dragons. To this day, I am probably more obsessed with dragons than I should be." She gave a slight laugh. Although they hadn't been talking long, she already rather liked the girls company, she seemed to be very mature and interesting. "I'm Eliaus by the way." She said as she offered her hand out for a handshake.

The young girl watched curiously as Eliaus spoke, tilting her head a little and listening carefully. She nodded to the apologies meant for her yawns, and giggled a little as the older girl said it was good for scaring off boys. Fiona definitely didn't care for boys just yet, although she had read many a novel and even some non-fiction books about romance and love and that sort of thing. She lifted a brow at mention of her curiosity in dreams. She supposed that it maybe wasn't such a common interest, Eliaus was right, but Fiona wondered in the back of her mind if this were another coincidence. Everything lately had seemed to be sort of...coincidental. She shrugged off the thought and bit her lip, considering her response for a moment as the older girl said her name and extended her hand to Fiona.
Fiona was still a little unsure about handshakes, being so young, but she realized it was a courtesy that was expected as one grew older, and if she wanted to be treated like an adult, or at least an intelligent kid, she had better act like one, so she stretched out her own small hand to shake Eliaus'.
"That's a neat name! Eliaus..." The younger girl trailed off for a moment, "I'm Fiona." She grinned nearly from ear to ear. She really was pleased as punch right now. Maybe she wasn't completely sure what she thought to say about her interest in dreams, but she also wasn't really sure how to stall, so she decided to just tell the truth...if not in full, it would still be true.
"Well, I've just been having uhhh, strange dreams lately. I thought maybe they meant something, so I wanted to see if there was anything that can explain dreams a little bit?" She said, nodding insistently. "I'm obviously not the only one in the world who is interested..." Again, Fiona trailed off, but she grinned and winked at Eliaus this time.
"I've read lots of books with dragons! Even graphic novels!" She added excitedly, it was cool that this older girl really liked reading, too, Fiona didn't have too many friends, and for some reason she felt comfortable talking with Eliaus. "There's nothing wrong with liking things, anyways...You shouldn't feel bad for liking dragons." She said with a small, kind smile and a reassuring nod.

Eliaus noted that the girl seemed hesitant to shake hands, and was about to take her hand away so she didn't feel so odd, when the girl took her hand. "Yeah, I honestly have no idea how I got such an odd name, and I don't know who gave it to me, so I can't even ask them!" She gave another laugh, and another yawn. She had no problems with her past, it happened and there was no reason for her to hide it, that was her philosophy anyway. "Fiona is a very pretty name to."[lcolor]
She was about to comment further on her name, a bit curious where the girl got her name, since they were on the subject anyway, but was distracted when the girl said something about odd dreams. "Yeah, I think the idea of a dream realm is very interesting. I love the idea of multiple layers of reality to... Ahem... Anyway... Have you tried dream catchers? There is a reality nice store downtown. It's a little shop, and it's not in the best part of town, so it's best not to go alone." She pulled her own dream catcher out of her pocket, as she carried it virtually everywhere just in case she accidentally fell asleep somewhere. She hoped it might help speed up the process. "Mine's a little on the less decorative side, but she has some more decorative ones there." She was, trying to promote the shop as she had told Granny she would. She didn't have a clue that Fiona already had one. She then put the dream catcher away, afraid the girl might see the energy it had.
Eliaus smiled a bit brighter at China's comment on her liking dragons. She couldn't help but wonder how long it was before the system practically beat all the imagination out of her. "I agree, graphic novels can be rather interesting. Although, I admit, even in graphic novels it's hard to escape romance."

Fiona was absolutely thrilled that Eliaus had said her name was pretty as well. She blushed a little. It wasn't often a little street urchin was called pretty in any regard, most people just disregarded her, and as she was thinking before, she wasn't really into boys. And maybe boys her age weren't into girls either, so she had never been called pretty by a boy. She could imagine how it must feel, of course she had read so many books...She made a little sigh and brought herself back to reality again. Fiona was so easily distracted into thoughts...
She again grinned practically from ear to ear when Eliaus brought a dreamcatcher out of her pocket. She had been about to open her mouth to say something, but instead she just stared at it with her mouth open for a moment, her blue eyes twinkling brightly, and full of amazement. "No way!" She half-shouted, then her hands flew up to cover her mouth, and she shot a glance around to see if anyone had heard her shouting. Everyone seemed to be going about their normal lives, so she turned back to Eliaus with a worried look on her face, and then giggled a little behind her hand.
"Oops." She muttered, still grinning huge. Fiona was just so ridiculously surprised that this girl had a dreamcatcher that looked very incredibly similar in style to her own. And she was talking about the same shop, how great! This was definitely a coincidence then, Fiona hadn't been wrong.
"I didn't mean to shout, it's just..." The young girl rifled through the inside pocket of her coat and pulled out her own frosty-blue colored catcher, newly re-woven with beads and that pretty purple flower from her latest visit to Granny's shop. "Look...!" She said urgently, pushing her own dreamcatcher toward the older girl to look at. "I know exactly where you're talking about." She said, nodding as she paused.
Fiona couldn't help but laugh a little. She appreciated that the older girl was trying to look out for her, but she didn't think it was too dangerous there. In fact, there were a few worse places she could think of, and considering that Fiona's shack was pretty close to Granny's little shop, she just found it a little funny- but she wouldn't say anything. "Oh, well I know that part of town pretty well." She said, smiling again as she brushed her bangs aside, tucking half of them behind an ear.
By now, the young girl had forgotten completely about graphic novels and romance, she was focused on their dreamcatchers, and trying to figure out then, why they had met today, REALLY.

Eliaus couldn't help but notice Fiona's blush when her name pretty. She thought it was odd that such a cute, pretty, young girl thought so much about such a small compliment. Eliaus' mind went to the fact that her parents weren't around. She wondered if her parents weren't majorly a part of her life. It would make sense if the girl was a latch-key kid considering how she came and went from the library, whenever she seemed to want. Her mind briefly thought of the possibility of the girl being a runaway, but she doubted it considering how long she had been around. As far as she understood, the police force was rather through in its runaway searches, although she knew there were still groups of them that eluded the police, she doubted someone from a group would hang around the library so much.
She was jarred from her thought when the girl accidentally let out a half-shout. "Shhhhhhh..." She said reflexively, a single finger covering her mouth to signal the girl to be quiet. She stood and gave a thumbs up to the librarian, who was the only one who really seemed concerned. Even though Eliaus wasn't working, she knew that the librarian knew her and wouldn't concern herself with such a small matter. Eliaus then turned her attention back to the girl before her, giving her a light smile to show she understood.
Her tired eyes gazed over her dream catcher, slightly surprised. "Well that's... Interesting..." She yawned again while she pulled the dream catcher out of her pocket and put it on the table to. The girl seemed to have her's recently rewoven to. She wondered if all of the 'focal points' as Eliaus had figured it would be called considering her conversation with Ms.Spiderlegs, were all plants. She couldn't help but wonder if it had something to do with the dream spirit's 'life force' or something like that. It didn't really matter, but she couldn't help but wonder. Of course, it was entirely possible that the dream catcher was entirely for decoration, but something made her doubt it. The catcher seemed... Alive almost. Both of the did. "Did you recently have yours reweaved?" She asked, figuring it was safe to ask, just in case the girl's dream catcher really was just for decoration, that way she wouldn't be leading the girl on by taking about spirits. Eliaus was glad they were in the library, that way they could talk freely about such odd matters and people would just think they were talking about a book or something.

Fiona grinned as she watched Eliaus signal to the librarian, and then examine her own dreamcatcher. She was so incredibly excited and she watched so intently. Especially now that she was sure they had come from the same woman, and that Eliaus' must be different, like hers. It was interesting to the young girl, and she also wondered if this was one other girl that had been to visit Granny, too, there must be more, right? She would wonder that one on her own for now, maybe she could get Eliaus to go somewhere else to talk about it...
"Yes, yes it was. I just took it yesterday!" She replied happily, wiggling a little in place, looking Eliaus straight in the face. "I wonder what Granny would say if we went to see her together..." She giggled a little and looked around, watching a couple others as they shuffled in and stood in the doorway a moment to warm up and take off gloves and hats and scarves.
"Wanna go for coffee or something, and we could talk about it more? I know a place that's usually pretty quiet..." Fiona offered. She did want to talk, but maybe not in the library, she usually tried her absolute hardest to be respectful and quiet in the library, and she was still feeling bad for shouting just a moment ago. It would be nice to have a hot drink anyways, Fiona didn't treat herself very often, she had very little money, but she had enough with her today to get a little something to eat and a hot drink, so she figured it was worth a shot. The young girl figured that Eliaus would likely have money for coffee too, since she was obviously old enough to work.

Eliaus couldn't help but smile brightly at the young girl's obvious excitement, which looked a bit off considering her frequent yawning and tired eyes, but, like the rest of her, somehow fit. She thought for a moment about the girl's statement about Ms.Spiderlegs. "Eh... I don't think she would be surprised, she doesn't seem to be surprised by much..." She was thinking of her late night visit, that was also the day before. She didn't tell Fiona that she had gone the same day since, for some reason, she thought the girl was so excited that another small coincidence would make her explode.
"Sure, where are your..." She began to ask at her proposition of going to the coffee shop, but soon caught herself. "Never mind, I guess that just makes things easier. I'm driving as long as you can direct me, and I'm also buying." She said very matter-of-factly, trying to fix her error. Although she didn't know why the girl never had any parents around, she figured it would probably be a touchy subject. Although, Eliaus definitely wanted to bring it up later.
The dark-haired girl stood and put her dream catcher back into her jacket pocket, then wrapped her scarf around her neck and put her gloves on. "I really should drink coffee, since it might wake me up a bit, but I don't. However, I'm a real sucker for Snowman soup and frapachinos... And Carmel, and peanut butter, but that's another matter all together." She said with a slight laugh. "We can get some snacks to if you like, I don't know about you, but I accidentally skipped out on lunch. Do they have good pastries? A scone sounds pretty good right now..."
She wandered off into her thoughts for a moment, just zoning out into no man's land, then was suddenly brought back to plannet Earth. "Anyway, like I said, I'm driving. It's getting too cold to walk too much. Shall we?" She asked, taking a step towards the door and looking back at Fiona. She was rather glad she was able to park in one of the close worker's spots, it looked really cold outside.

The young girl looked up cheerily at Eliaus, pulling up the hood of her sweater, but not her parka. She also pulled up her boots, but left her mitts off now, hanging by their strings from her parka sleeves.
"I guess you're right, she knows just about everything, doesn't she? That's what I was kinda thinking anyways, since she pretty much knew exactly why I went there...so I guess..." Fiona trailed off, thinking about what she was about to say and figuring she may as well wait until they got to the coffee shop. She didn't think it was that far, or that cold, she was quite used to walking everywhere, it wasn't often she was allowed on the bus, since the drivers knew her and for some reason even if she had money they wouldn't allow her. That was one thing that made her hardly able to wait until she looked more like and was actually an adult, too. People would finally take her seriously. She supposed though, at least Eliaus was taking her seriously, that was nice.
Fiona realized though what the older girl was about to ask of her, and her eyes darted away for a moment, she brushed aside her bangs and then took a step toward the door as well.
"If you wanna drive, it's not too far, but I guess no point of having to come back later just to get your car..." She looked up again at Eliaus. A small giggle escaped her as the older girl listed some of her favourite things. Maybe most people would think coffee wasn't for thirteen year olds, but she didn't care too much, she liked lattes and cappuccinos, and plain coffee was good too. It was just nice to have something tasty and warm, and she liked how different coffee could be.
"Oh yes, they make all that kind of stuff in the shop, scones, croissants, muffins, even donuts." She grinned, Fiona was quite fond of their little donuts. "I think they have peanut brittle sometimes...I'm sure there will be something you like!" The young girl added. "You don't hafta pay for it, I have money." She said, furling her brow a little. She was used to taking care of herself, and had a hard time accepting things from others. She was grateful for gifts, of course, and help, but she liked to feel like an adult, too.
She followed Eliaus outside to the car and waited to get in.
"It won't take long to go there." She smiled, getting in the car and putting on her seatbelt. "If you just go left out of this parking lot, it's down the street about four blocks, then take a right and it's two more blocks down..." She trailed off, sure that Eliaus would remember those directions.

Eliaus' stomach growled loudly, causing her hand to shoot to her stomach reflexively, but she just let out a laugh. "I think my stomach says it is time to go. Besides, driving will be faster." She stood up straight again and led the way out to her car. She was glad to see Fiona put on her seat belt, she didn't like it when people didn't wear seat belts, it was dangerous, but some of her generation seemed to think the opposite.
Hearing the directions, the tired woman repeated it out loud once, then many times in her head as she drove. As sleepy as she was, she wanted to be certain she wouldn't make a fool of herself and forget such short instructions. As she drove she couldn't help but think that it was a rather long walk to make in the cold, but she didn't say anything to Fiona. She had noticed how she reacted earlier when she nearly brought up her parents and figured asking or confronting her about it would do no good until the girl opened up a bit more to her. Still, she couldn't keep her mind from wondering to the subject.
"Here we are." She chimed tiredly, yawning afterwards before getting out and leading the way into the shop. She stood back a bit to look over the menu and pastries. "I think I'm going to get two apple scones, a coco, and a cake pop. What do you want? You can order whatever you like, I'm paying regardless. If you would like to, you are more than welcome to order, but I am paying." She said, clearly taking no for an answer on the matter. She pulled out thirty dollars- a twenty and a ten- and handed it to the girl. "Here, I'll even give you a budget." She doubted their order would be over thirty dollars, regardless of what she ordered, but even if it was, Eliaus would pay for it. She simply figured saying they had a 'budget' might ease Fiona's mind about letting her pay.

Fiona watched everything as they passed it in the car. She had to admit, at least to herself, that it was nice to be in a car instead for once. She was lucky to have the nice winter clothes that she did, they made it not bad when she was outside, and at least her little shack got a bit of heat from her being in there. Either way, Fiona was okay with the way that she lived, even if most people who found out totally freaked.
As she followed Eliaus into the shop, she breathed a happy sigh. She loved this shop, it was so cozy and they really had wonderful food and drinks. It was a bit of a hidden gem, as it looked kind of rickety on the outside, so not many people came in, but it was one of the best places Fiona had ever eaten. Though, at her age she admittedly hadn't been to too many places exactly, but she sure knew the difference between good and bad food after having to scavenge for a good portion of her life.
"You weren't kidding about your stomach, huh?" Fiona teased with a little giggle, looking up at Eliaus. Sometimes she had a hard time taking things from people, even though she was grateful for it, but the young girl saw no point in trying to argue it with the older girl. She figured that it was fine to let others be kind when they insisted, and she already knew what she would have.
"Well I could have a latte, maybe with hazelnut! And hmmm..." Fiona paused and lifted a hand to her chin, scratching it in jest as she thought about the baked goods. "Perhaps a ham and cheese croissant would be nice." She grinned, again looking back to Eliaus. She took the money offered and handed it to the barista that was waiting at the till. "Thank you." She added, unzipping her parka quickly before she took the change.
"Here you go!" She chimed to Eliaus, holding it out in her hand, "Look, we can sit in my favourite place by the window!" Fiona said excitedly, tugging at Eliaus' sleeve and pointing toward some outdated, albeit comfortable looking armchairs with a table in between them. "They'll bring it over when it's all ready." The young girl smiled again.

Eliaus let out a yawn, very thoroughly covering her mouth since they were in a place of eating, and smiled at the girl's commentary about how hungry she was. She then whipped droplets from her eyes. Man I didn't realize I was so tired... She thought, which made sense since she had been busy and focused for the past two hours.
She was snapped back into reality as Fiona offered the change to her. "Thank you." She said before shoving he money into her pocket. The next thing she knew, Fiona was tugging on her sleeve and pointing towards a table. "Sure..." She muttered sleepily and wandered towards the table she was meaning and took a seat.
"Nice spot." She said as she looked out the window, trying to wake herself up. "So, what's your dream like? If you don't mind me asking." She said, perking up a bit more as a woman brought over their food and beverages. "That was fast, thankyou." She said to the woman with a smile as she looked down at her scones. "Yummy..." She said as she looked at them, then picking one up and bit in. "Good pick, Fiona." She said as she set the scone down and took a sip of her coco, seemingly happy with it to. She then looked at the girl, waiting until she began eating and gave her verdict to continue eating herself.

The young girl took off her coat and hung it over the chair, then brushed aside her bright pink bangs and sat on the chair with one leg over the other. She looked at the woman as she brought their order and smiled at her, said a quiet "thank you", and grabbed the croissant, taking a big bite out of it happily
"Mmmmm." She finished chewing her bite and giggled. "Always so good!" Fiona added cheerily, scooping a little foam off her latte with her finger and licking it. She loved to have a treat here every now and then, and she was glad that Eliaus liked it too. "I'm happy you like it. Not many people know about it, I guess..." She trailed off a little and took another hungry bite of her croissant, contemplating what to say about her dream, if anything. She supposed it was okay, since Eliaus had her own catcher, and she had obviously been to see Granny.
"Well, I have this dream about a field of wildflowers, it's really a garden though. It belongs to this pretty faerie lady, hmmm....what was her name again..." She trailed off, touching her index finger to her lips as she thought about it, glancing up at the ceiling.
"Beulah is her name I think. She's beautiful, so is her garden. She said she brought me for a reason, but...well, I don't want to get my hopes up, you know?" She said shyly, blushing a little and looking down, twiddling her thumbs a moment.
The pink-haired girl put down her snack and grabbed her cup, taking a long drink out of it and using a napkin to wipe her mouth. "What about you?" She said, lifting a brow a little as she re-placed the cup on the table and looked up at Eliaus.
