Some people just get all the s**t piled on them for the worst reasons.
Specifically, this child.
Cavalier of the Abyss. Her name is Linne.
Granted, she's a little bit of a b***h. She's one of a trio of people who torment a different child for being the daughter of a witch. And it's true that there's some karma for being a b***h, but even if that was all she was, she wouldn't deserve what she got.
But when it comes down to it, she's not malignant. She's not cruel. A downright nasty tart, sure, but there's good reason for it.
The child she torments, while not legitimately deserving of it, has an aura about her. Misfortune occurs to the people who are with or around her. Documented history and all that s**t. Linne's trying to drive her away so that her friends who aren't afraid of her don't get to see her, 'cause she's terrified on their behalf.
It's a justified fear. And becomes more justified as you learn more about just what Siana, the witch's daughter, is. Actions less so, but she had good intention.
Later, Siana ends up running into world altering demonic nightmare of another dimension who warps the ground and creatures around him to a point where it attacks people. And she ends up feeding him.
Don't even know why.
Later, confused as to what Siana is doing bringing an excess of food with her, Linne follows her into the forest. In so doing, she gets assaulted by Siana's demon friend, who leaves her mostly unharmed.
Mostly.
Of course, the altering of creatures around him included humanoids. And this well intentioned b***h ends up having her shoulder transform into a mini demon beast who proceeds to rip apart one of her friends directly in front of her eyes.
Ain't that just ******** dandy.
She panics, tries to consult someone to fix the problem. Which would normally have resulted in a few casualties outright. On the upside, the a*****e king of the world notices her presence and murders her outright the moment he sees her.
This is an upside, because it meant that she didn't have to see him massacre the rest of her village for being associated with the girl who got attacked by the other girl's new demon friend. As in, literally everyone in the village either ended up dead or undead. Which traces back to the child.
Even if she was an unjustified b***h that'd be a little much.
But I liked this kid. A little misguided but well meaning. Way too cruel a fate. It's depressing.
