Looking through the clear water
no reflection present.
She sees her hands resting upon the bottom
gentle movements cause the water to ripple.
She lays there, still, silent,
as she contemplates her regrets, her fears.
Her tears are blocked and shoved away;
holding all of the pain in of yesterday.
She watches her future in the waves
and knows that she doesn't want that.
There is a path she wants to follow,
but the likeliness of it happening is hollow.
She doesn't know how to achieve her wants;
doesn't know what it will take to get there.
She doesn't even know if it's real,
all of these emotions that she feels.
She doesn't want to run away,
but she doesn't want it to end as she predicts.
The gaps are getting larger
and the distance seems farther.
Can she continue to love words?
Can she one day meet the man behind them?
A sad memory slowly escapes her eye
and rolls down her red cheek.
She loves him more than he will ever know
and her heart is his no matter where she goes.
If time were turned back, the only thing she'd change is:
She'd find him sooner so that she could love him longer
