History: Born and raised in Palisade to a very poor and yet very large family, Meredith Blackthorn was lost in a mass of siblings and cousins early on. Not that she minded. This allowed her the freedom to run around the shady side streets with the other kids her age, occasionally filching a coin here and there or running errands for the locals. By the time she reached a marriageable age, there was no way Merry was going anywhere near that scene. Having learnt a musicians art (the lute, flute and a bit of singing), Merry took to the taverns and streets to ply her new trade. It wasn’t easy. Being female and being unfortunately well-endowed, she was often the butt of bawdy jokes, unwelcome touching and the occasional attempt at forcing her down dark alleys. She endured.
In fact, she endured the hell out of any doubters and half of her family (many of which who decided to all catch the same illness and died within a matter of weeks) when Merry was twenty-one.
Her life became a long line of travelling, playing music, telling potential suitors to get lost and generally just enjoying herself. If you ask her nicely, she might admit that life has been difficult. Money is hard to come by. There are lines in the corners of her eyes and by most peoples standards she’s just ‘too old’ now. But Meredith would never have picked another path.
