Ever since Queensryche fired Geoff Tate and picked up Todd La Torre in 2012, fans of the band have become very polarized and tend to only like (nay, LOVE) one singer or the other at uber-fanbooy levels. There are currently TWO different fully operational bands bearing the name Queensryche now. There's Geoff Tate's Queensryche headed by the singer that was with the band when it rocketed to superstar status, and The version just called Queensryche with the original lineup and Todd on vocals. Many of the long-time fans followed Tate and defend him like a god while blasting La Torre at any opportunity. On the other hand, there are the fans of the "new" 'Ryche that stand up for Todd and fire at Geoff.
Then, you have a few, like me that aren't extremely biased.
As a singer, Geoff Tate was one of my first inspirations and influences, and I had nothing but respect for him for a long time. Unfortunately, his ego has gotten the better of him, and his voice just isn't what it once was. Todd La Torre is a breath of fresh air and rejuvenated a band that has been struggling since the early-mid 90's. He's a fantastic singer on the level that Tate used to be. I love both for what they have both done and the music they have made.
I wanna hear YOUR thoughts, though. Where do YOU stand on the Queensryche split?
