The second son of a family that owns a buddhist temple, Takayuki was raised on the principles of patience, devotion and hard work by his grandparents. As a child he was never fully aware of the ghosts he sometimes saw. During his last year of junior high he moved to America to live with his dad and has only recently returned. While in America he played tennis and developed a passion for online RTS games. He also enjoyed reading about the accomplishments of ancient military heroes.
His fullbring awakening occurred a couple of days before he moved back to Japan, while he was out with some friends after his college graduation. He was attacked by a hollow and knocked out. When he came to, he was in a small warehouse, and the Hollow was devouring on what seemed to be his friend. Confused and fearful he looked around for the room and found an old wooden bat lying around. He grabbed it and was not able to wound or disturb the hollow. But in his rage something happened to the bat and it became a kanabo which was able to wound a surprised Hollow. Seeing that it worked, Takayuki continued to strike the hollow until it disappeared. After the fight, the bat itself broke into many pieces due to it's age and recent usage.
After the incident, Takayuki promised himself that he would never be as panicked as he had been that time and began conducting self experiments to draw out his peculiar ability.
He is now in Japan looking for a job.
