Wing sat in her den, miserable and lethargic. It had been a couple moons since the death of her only cub and the flooding of the pride, but it seemed like just yesterday she had been swept away from Nari, never to see him alive again. The flood waters had receded, thankfully, and the pride was coming together to start celebrating the next season. Vuli was Wing's season to help prepare for, but she couldn't find it in her heart to be excited about it.
She knew she had duties, though, so she dragged herself to her feet and moved from her den. She walked to the edge of the pride's lands and into the rouge lands just a bit, tired eyes looking for someone to talk to. She, as a Crier, was supposed to bring the word of the festivals to potential new members. With Nari's grave dug in the prides lands, though, she hated leaving for very long. Hopefully she could do her job if there were curious rouges around.

 He was off in wonderland. In his mind, tales and stories of star crossed lovers to well. Love. But he was living this painful existence with a story of his own. He had loved to give love- as an affectionate cub, but to his older sister in which she had gotten up and abandoned him. Since that point- he was always looking for love- knowingly in the wrong places at times for the pure need for companionship and affection. After having parental relationships with two impacting individuals, his whole perspective, changed. When he lived with the hare named Amelie- he was taught manners, he was taught of a big family ( mostly familiars ) and genuine love of family. With Nilakanta, he learned to be knightly, to be a cheetah of his word. Nila- was his fatherly figure and was brought in to his life. But Nila's stories made him fear the outside world and fear of losing someone he cared about. Nilakanta was a king of a pride- and had lost his whole family, and every love he ever had- was taken from him. Either by death or disappearance.
With the stories, he learned and gathered that even if you love someone. You can always love another, to leave your heart open and that was what he did. Already he had someone whom wrapped around his heart, but she made it ache and hurt. She left him in the nothing, without saying a word. JUST like his sister had, and it devastated him. After months of not finding her, he stopped looking and wondered around alone what seemed like forever now. His head hung low, his body was exhausted. He tried to befriend a familiar or two but they feared him in this land and he felt destined to be alone.
Wonderful. He kicked dirt and had the only food he hid- gone. A day full of just incredible mishaps. Still he was trying to be optimistic, and to his surprise- his persistence of being happy led him to a bush full of fruit. "Success!" He announced- to keep himself from going crazy, he'd speak aloud. Pulling some berries off the bush, Amelie, the hare whom helped him off his paws taught him that the body can be sustained not only by food but by the plants of the earth and he was going to do just that. Picking them as he hummed a sweet tune. "Maybe my luck is changing around~ maybe today can't just be about frowns~ A smile a day keeps the bad thoughts away~" A voice deep- yet silly to keep his mind busy.
But the feeling of abandonment kept festering and slowly unconsciously eating at him. With the sound of some bushes his ears went up and so did his head popping out of the bushes. The last time he said hi aloud before seeing who it was- he was attacked by a bore, so today he slowly slinked down when he heard the footsteps inch closer. Trying to dodge and try and see where the sound was coming from. Oh better to be safe than sorry~~~ |

Wing wasn't really paying attention to where she was walking, moving like she was in a dream. It was hard to stay focused lately, as anything and everything she did brought her back to her poor son. The little male had only been a cub, not even a few months old when he met his end. It was horrible, but she knew he was among the ancestors in the sky, watching over her, and keeping her safe. Perhaps even leading her to a new adventure that would help her heal.
Wing lifted her head in surprise as she saw something move in the bushes head. It was hard to make out in the foliage, but as she stared the shape became apparent. Two ears, a tail, striking eyes...the pelt of the creature was dark enough to blend in with the bushes, but there were certain spots that jumped out as she stared. Intricate designs on paws, a moon on a chest...
"Hello?" she called out, her soft voice curious. "I won't hurt you," she added, not wanting to seem a threat. The creature looked feline, perhaps even another cheetah with how slender he was, but she could be mistaking him for something else. "My name is Usiku Wingu, I'm a part of the pride that's not too far from here...would you come out?" Speaking rationally with the stranger was always a good place to start and, if he turned out to be hostile, she could always turn and run.
