Name: Kadaj Hun'ett

Age: 197 years old

Race: Drow (Menzoberranyr)

Class: Wizard, Druid-in-training

Religion: Sehanine

Alignment: Chaotic Good

Appearance: dark skin, silver-white hair styled into a mohawk (chin-length when loose, brushed forward to hang over his eyes), wide-shaped eyes (Blue in lightvision/Orange in darkvision), height: 5' 4", weight: 120lbs., build: petite, deceptively delicate, clothing: Drowmesh armor under a loose cream-colored long-sleeved tunic, dark brown breeches (also loose), leather bracers, leather belt with bag of holding attached to back (think kunai pouch), dagger sheathed at each hip, wears leather boots only when he can't get away with going barefoot.

Background History: As the second to youngest son of House Hun'ett, Kadaj was able to escape much of his family's notice by pretending to be mentally absent (not slow-witted or "dumb" but simply vacant, in a the-torches-are-all-lit-but-no-one's-actually-in-there sort of way), somewhat redirecting his mother's attention to his younger brother Masoj. Apart from his "vacancy", Kadaj did not allow himself to seem incompetent or in any other way defective or disposable, thus his mother chose to have him trained in the magical arts like all of her other sons. He breezed through his classes at the Academy, gaining priceless insight into many of his masters' private projects as they believed him incapable of stealing (or using) their secrets. His talent for spellcraft and reputation for being easily manipulated eventually gained the attention of Archmage Gromph Baenre and, via association, his daughter; Liriel.

Kadaj spent much of the next decade enthralled, as his friend Liriel was, in the forbidden myths and magics of the World Above. But where Liriel found herself drawn into the tales of barbarian runework, Kadaj found himself captivated by something else entirely; the legends of druidic magic.

Alas, his time at Liriel's side came to an end when the Matron of her house remanded Liriel to the clerical Academy and Kadaj's own Matron commanded him to watch his younger brother (and his brother's new understudy) more closely, and slowly he managed to find a true friend in the young Drizzt Do'Urden. For the first time Kadaj allowed someone to see beyond his empty facade; to veiw his true, exuberant, plant-loving self, and like Drizzt and Liriel he began to dream of something beyond the crushing deviltry of their homeland.

But as the humans say; "What can go wrong, will go wrong."

The change was subtle, at first, but rapidly snowballed. Liriel stopped sending him messages. Drizzt began his final year of schooling and grew ever more despondant. No sign of Liriel, no word. Drizzt graduated, joined the patrols with Masoj. Liriel was gone, more than likely dead. Masoj's patrol was selected for a raiding expedition and Drizzt became even more distant. Drizzt murdered Masoj and deserted his House. A decade passed, House Hun'ett fell, and its remnants were absorbed by the other Houses. Kadaj Hun'ett became Darkar Armgo. Drizzt was gone. House Do'Urden falls, too. Another few years lost in the black, and then House Baenre begins to rally them together for war against a place called Mithral Hall, against Drizzt Do'Urden.

The question was; would Darkar of House Del'Armgo remain loyal to Menzoberranzan or would he, like Drizzt, cast the vile city aside and become Kadaj Hun'ett once more? Did he really have such a choice?

The battle and its immediate aftermath are a blur; Kadaj remembers seeing stars for the first time, but can't recall marching away from the city. He remembers looking for Drizzt and suddenly Drizzt is there, but now they're underground and Kadaj hasn't the slightest clue as to how he wound up there or where, exactly, he found his old friend. They are fighting Vierna side-by-side, but then Kadaj is slinging fire at a drider and he can't see Drizzt anywhere. Stars again, then daylight, and the drow are gone and the battle is won and Kadaj is mourning the loss of human boy he'll never meet but the human meant so much, so much, to his friend that he can't help but share in Drizzt's grief.

Kadaj's memory clears after that. He and Drizzt spend some time catching up with eachother and Kadaj gets to know Drizzt's other friends. After a while Drizzt and Cattie-brie go to sea, and Bruenor and Regis go back to Icewind Dale, and Kadaj finds a new home amongst the wizards of Longsaddle. He teaches the Harpells drow magic and they in turn teach him human magic. Soon though Kadaj's love of druidry lures him to Silverymoon, and it is there that he finds his true goddess, Sehanine, the Lady of Dreams. He spends the next few years learning her ways, journeying as far as Skullport where he once again meets with Liriel -wonderous Liriel, who is not dead!- and learns from her the runeword that restores his fading drow magic. In Skullport he finds even more goodly drow amongst the followers of Eilistraee; he watches them raid slave market after slave market, he sees the good that they do in spreading the teachings of their goddess to their Lolth-blinded brethren and he wonders if his own church does something similar in Sehanine's name...

The Orc King rises, however, and Kadaj puts his wanderings on hold in order to aid Clan Battlehammer's (and thus Drizzt's) fight against Obould's terrible army. The war ends in a treaty with the new orc kingdom and once the dust has settled Kadaj will join the struggle against the Spider Queen at last...

------------------------------------------------------------------
Items: Bag of Holding (full; small weapons; knives, shuriken, throwing needles), standard adventuring kit (backpack, bedroll, rope, climbing gear, etc.), drowmesh armor (crafted in Skullport by the followers of Eilistraee), holy symbol; Sehanine's Moondisk (enchanted; prevents disease, particularly those carried by the undead), 2 glassteel daggers (enchanted; secretes sleeping poison. Note: this poison is ineffective against undead enemies), spellbook (contains mostly fire-type spells with a few plant-type spells [see below]).

Combat Style: Kadaj prefers to confront his foes directly, keeping only enough distance between himself and his target to maintain the efficiency of his attacks.

Weaponry: In addition to a bag-of-holding full of small knives, shuriken, and sometimes poisoned throwing needles, Kadaj also carries a pair of glassteel daggers enchanted to produce a mild sleeping poison.

Skills or Powers: Kadaj is skilled in the use of fire spells, is learning druidic magic, and uses small bladed weapons such as throwing knives and shuriken.

Combat Weakness: Kadaj displays an absolute inability to use bows, crossbows, or slings with any form skill or accuracy, and (like most wizards) is not overly powerful in the muscular strength department.
