User ImageIt had not gone unnoticed to Shahzad, that his sickly older brother had become much strong since foal hood. that was bad news for him, his father never would have considered his brother for a heir if he remained sick and weak. However, Adel had become strong he could even fight with Kamal for a time, though his endurance was still less than his own and the rest of his brothers.

All of a sudden Shahzad had seen Adel with some skill, when he fought for the first time with a sword. It was the strangest thing, who would have taught him? they were forbidden to do so like a mare. Heaven forbid he get ill and die. But Shahzad felt his position threatened because of this, he had gotten father's attention Ryar was generally impressed with the improvement Shahzad could see.

What he found even stranger was his niece and Adel had been seen together often. Unusually often.

His Niece was often kept with his mother and sister-in-law,But she'd been granted more freedom with his brother. Under the name of 'care taking' Shahzad didn't buy it. Something was up his niece had always seemed, there was something wrong with her, she was always passing the training grounds, especially when there was training. Could she have taught Adel? Was that even possible, she had been forbidden a sword like all mares...

Oh if it was true how shamed would Kamal be? His rebellious daughter may be his downfall. Shahzad couldn't help smile wouldn't that be rich? Ah there she was now, all alone this time.

"Aah My lovely niece all alone are you?" He greeted coming up behind her.

Sooraya was in fact waiting for her uncle, through their training he'd become so much stronger he'd become able to fight off his illness. Sooraya was quite proud of her uncle, it even pushed her to improve too as he got stronger she had someone to spar with it helped her to significantly as they learned how the other fought. Combat experience was valuable especially again't another, you couldn't read their mind, and sets would only get you so far.

The mare glanced at the hot sky, covered head to toe in traditional heavy blue robes. Though behind her veil she breathed in surprise.

The voice she heard though was not the one she had wanted to hear, It was her other uncle, Shahzad. Her uncle had been poking around keeping an eye on both her and Adel recently having grown suspicious of Adel's amazing recovery.

"Esteemed uncle." Sooraya smiled with her eyes and gave him a bow. "I am waiting for Uncle Adel'Faris." she explained formally.

User Image Sword tucked securely under his robes, of which he had worn a couple extra for double the coverage, Adel left his resting place, gently reprimanding his long time appointed nurse that she was not to come with him where he was going. She was worried at how often he was prone to slipping off out of sight ever since he was a colt. She could never figure out his methods...But now he just walked right out. A new power was about him, but she could not figure out how. She only agreed to allow him to leave once he assured her he was going to immediately meet up with his niece. As long as he was in the company of a caretaker, she was appeased.

Thus, Adel was a little late to their meeting. The sun was too high in the sky. When his brother came into view, his heart skipped a beat. Shazad was always up to something and it was rarely any good. At least not for anyone but him. Snorting in irritation as he heard his brother's words, he grimaced. It was time to put on his best sick face.

Adel let his head sink as if his neck could not hold it's weight. He barely lifted his hooves from the sand beneath him and did so laboriously, to show the great amount of effort it required to lift them. Rather than make his presence known as he approached, he let out a series of coughs that his family often used to mark his presence.

The prince winced in an expression of pain and closed his eyes before taking a deep breath and allowing a weak smile to creep upon his face.

"Ah, brother, what an unexpected delight. Did you care to join us on our daily walk? The sweltering sun is good for you," he offered, fully expecting his brother to find the idea unbearable. It seemed Shahzad could only stand his own company and the sooner he could scare him off, they sooner they could get to business.

Then to make it seem as if it were an afterthought, he turned his attention to Sooraya with a cold, "Niece," as a greeting. It pained him to speak to her so, but he hoped she would understand the situation at hand. Sooraya was clever enough for that, to be sure and Shahzad rarely had the best intentions for those around him...

Shahzad paid little mind to Sooraya as Adel appeared, she would never inherit however, Esteemed uncle indeed, He knew what his niece thought of him. what the rest of his brothers thought of him. No matter he would prove to be superior to all of them. Including the firstborn.

Shahzad eyed his brother with a brief look of distain, it 'appeared' his brother's coughing fits had increased again. Shahzad didn't believe it, not for one second. But he had no proof. Shahzad needed proof, which is why he was here hoping Adel or his niece would slip. Others around him certainly believed his brother's act, he could see glances of concern coming from the other guards, and some of the mares who cared for his brother.

Well placed greeting as usual, his brother, most of his brothers were quite clever. But that they got from their mother. Shahzad smiled in return "It is quite delightful to see you up and around brother," Shahzad greeted kindly in return.

True as it may be accompanying his 'sick' brother was not ideal or entertaining in anyway they would not get rid of him that easily, not this time. "Thank you for the offer brother, I do think a walk would be quite fine this day." he spoke formally and gave a smile to his niece.

Sooraya was indeed clever in her own right did quickly catch on. "Uncle" she replied equally as cold and bowing low, after all she was just a simple mare. Especially in the eyes of most stallions even with royal blood.

"I apologize for speaking out of turn Esteemed uncle, but..." she paused, "Please do not stress your body." she warned humbly bowing, she knew her place in this world, and she had been raised to act as he had. Sooraya too could tell when he was acting, and Shahzad too should know such words of weakness would bother her uncle, though she hoped he knew she didn't mean them.

As far as Shahzad was concerned her grandfather had told her to take care of uncle Adel in his weakened condition.

Adel repressed his annoyance at his brother's insistence on accompanying them. Perhaps today would not hold much training after all...At least not by daylight.

Instead, he let out a laugh and looked over to Shahzad. He certainly was not going to lead his brother to their usual training spot. He would sooner eat his own hoof than give away that silent, sequestered personal paradise.

"Well, it is not normal for us to have company on our little walks. They do me good, though. They make me feel more like a prince than anything else I do. They make me feel as if I were on the same level as the rest of my brothers", oh, he was laying it on thick but his voice was earnest and sincere. No doubt this would annoy Shahzad to no end.

Adel had to try not to laugh and he hoped Sooraya would be able to keep from giggling as well. This was their secret and he would be damned if his brother were to uncover it.

"Did you have a preference then, brother, since you are our guest today? Where would you like to go?"

Shahzad narrowed his eyes, did Adel think him a fool? Adel was laughing at him. His hatred for Adel only grew. Here was his brother, so ill and sickly now strong and proud, who seemingly gained in strength from nowhere. It angered him deeply but he did his best not to let it show. His Niece mocked him too just like his sickly elder brother.

Adel did truly annoy Shahzad. The fifth prince wanted nothing more than to charge at his brother and teach him his place. Alas, that was not how things were done. A truly vulgar thought brought on by anger and frustration is what that was. Shahzad was above that. "I am pleased, to hear that my brother" Shahzad smiled "It no doubt brings Father, such joy to see you about." he stressed the world joy.

This was going to be dry day especially for living in a desert. Maybe, maybe he could get one of them to slip. He could only hope. "I would love to go along your usual route brother, if it's not too much trouble," he spoke calmly"I'd love to see where you spend your long days. Surely they must be long without training." Shahzad shot back at adel slyly with a brotherly guise.

The mare hid her laughter from her eyes. Adel was her favourite uncle, though Haidar was rather amusing to watch. He was more like Grandmother and continued to be so. Silent Sooraya watched both her uncles talk, Everything Shahzad said was entirely insincere. Sooraya was angry but heaven forbid she share that openly. One day Sooraya, would show him a thing or two, one day she was sure. She'd engage him openly proudly as a member of the family.

But not now. Sooraya Gave

'usual' route it was then, Sooraya would have laughed, this was going to be a long day. Shame she and Adel wouldn't get to training till much later. Train again by the light of the heavens above. The desert would be wonderfully cool. Today had become rather stuffy with their company and Sooraya was nothing more than a simple wallflower. Silent and Mysterious.

Adel was certainly not going to let his brother know where he truly spent his days. In truth, he had feared that he would say as much. Shazad was incredibly obnoxious that way.

"I am sure father is thrilled to see I am not a fragile as I once was. Still, I must take it easy for fear of another fit. They do not happen as often as they did when we were foals, but they still take my strength from me," in truth, he had not had one in months...At least, not a real one.

"Ah, yes, the usual route it shall be! Shall it not, Sooraya?" he nodded in his nieces direction, a motion that meant to follow his lead.

"You see, I do not like to feel like a spectacle as I go for my walks, brother, but in truth, I just go beyond the nearest dune and circle the herd territory as far as I can manage before I must take a break. That way wandering eyes see nothing to later gossip about. Shall we be off then?"

Adel did not wait for an answer but instead picked the largest dune he could possibly see. He traversed these all day long and while he would need to pretend it was a challenge, Adel did not think Shahzad made a habit of climbing these sand monstrosities.

Sooraya remained silent throughout the exchange as a mare should. Despite how much she wanted to make Shahzad stuff it. Sooraya once acknowledged gave a nod "yes, we shall my respected uncles" She answered understanding what Adel meant. Shahzad wouldn't find out. "Please lead the way uncles." she said quietly making a motion of being the one to follow quietly. There wasn't much she could do in this situation other than follow her uncle's lead. They wouldn't be doing anything fun today with Shahzad so close. Sooraya was silently laughing in her mind at Shahzad as adel picked the largest Dune.

How inconvenient he picked the largest dune. Shahzad was not impressed "Yes I expect he is." Shahzad agreed openly. Adel becoming stronger hampered Shahzad's Progress and the other stallion became a threat to his inheritance. Shahzad eyed them suspiciously they were taking him for a fool again. He wasn't fool, they changed their plans to account for him. They had a plan to account for him. He'd have to think of something else. He would find proof, he'd make sure all his brothers were out of his way. He deserved to be heir over them all. Well no matter he would still accompany them.

"I see my brother, still I shall accompany you and my niece on your walk for your own protection." he added the small insult it was sure to wound them both. "Though I do understand the need to be out of the limelight my brother." he said waiting for his brother to begin walking,.

"How generous of you, my dear brother!" Adel responded in good humor, cracking a smile. He knew that his brother was trying to wound his pride but his rapidly improving healthy left him feeling immune to his brother's barbs.

"But I assure you, you have no need to fear for your safety! Why, the guards are always near, and they patrol with keen precision. Father would expect no less...All you have to fear is getting stuck in a dune! Now that would truly be a nightmare for you. Imagine, the guards having to come and pull you out because our niece and I could simply not manage it..."

His jovial tone conveyed a note of amusement he knew Sooraya would pick up on but was sincere enough to come off to the casual listener as a statement and not his own prickling barb for his brother who so clearly knew he was intruding upon something.

"Come! Today is a good day for exercise. I'm sure it would do you some good. Being sedentary with books and records is bad for a warrior's soul, so I hear."

With that, he was off at a pace that was slow for him now, but what his family had come to expect of him.

Sooraya indeed could hear the tone change in Adel's voice, they would have to laugh about this latter when they were in private. Sooraya continued following in silence. After all that is what a proper mare was to do. She was only an aide if she was needed. And she was pleased Adel was in between her and Shahzad. She might 'accidentally' Trip her unpleasant uncle otherwise.

His verbal daggers seemed to have had no effect on his brother anymore. Adel shot right back at him, Shahzad knew he wouldn't get stuck these dunes were just as much a part of him as the rest who live here. a newcomer surely wouldn't have the prowess. But that was part of the point. Shahzad let the Comment roll off his shoulders. "Truly that would be a rather amusing sight wouldn't it dear brother i fear much more for you or our sweet niece." Shahzad pretended to smile "with pleasure." he said following his younger brother in stride. "I believe that is true, though brother Haidar would disagree with us." he added jokingly. Surely after a bit he might suggest they pick up the pace, after all Adel wasn't so sickly anymore and it was making his plans difficult.
