Azriel fell on top of Talia, but did not move even though they were safe. He could hear the dragon screech and scrabble at the small opening. Breathing heavily, he closed his eyes and held Talia tighter as they were bathed in flames once more, though luckily there were several large boulders that blocked most of the intensity. He really hoped that they would come out of this alive.
The dragon gave a screech of pain as Cyrus hurled the fire back at it. It began showering the area with more fire and Cy ducked down behind some rocks. As the dragon pulled back up into the air, he saw it turn and make a fierce dive towards the pass. Cursing under his breath, he bolted from his hiding place and began running. As he did, he dematerialized and reappeared on the path beside Isambard.
"Get down!" he roared and put himself between the dragon and Isambard and the men. This time, when he caught the fireball, he took the time to aim. With a mighty grunt, he threw the fire back at the beast and watched as its delicate wings caught fire. The beast panicked and flapped its disintegrating wings furiously, but it was not enough. Gravity began to take over and it fell to its death on the jagged rocks beneath it.

Talia looked up at Azriel and almost held her breath as she heard the dragon screeching and scrabbling to try and get to them. She closed her eyes as the heat washed over them and then moved to get her pack off her back. Inside she found her knife, she took it out and pushed Az off of her, what she did next she knew had to be quick. She threw the knife hard at the dragon, it hit home between the eyes, the dragon screeched and soared up and away from the mouth of the cave.
Isambard echoed Cyrus' shout.
"Down." He cried and hit the floor with the men almost at the same time. He heard the roar and turned over just in time to see the dragon fall to the ground.
"Where's the other one?" He shouted.

Az blinked as he was shoved aside and he watched as Talia threw the knife with deadly aim. He stared, stunned into silence, as the dragon took off and left them alone in the steaming cave. After a few moments, he turned his wide eyes to Talia and a slow smile stole across his lips.
"I hope you know how amazing you are," he smirked with complete adoration in his eyes.
Cyrus watched with grim satisfaction as the dragon remained lifeless. Despite what most people might think of a brute like him, he despised taking life. But this had been absolutely necessary. Isambard's shout drew him back out of his thoughts and he frowned as he turned and scanned the skies. After a moment it appeared, but it was screeching and flying quickly away from them.
"I think we are safe now," he said cautiously.

Talia sat back on her knees and breathed out, her heart was pounding hard in her chest. When Azriel spoke she looked back at him and smirked a little.
"Yeah, I know." she said, reaching up to brush her hair off her face. "Don't tell everyone though." She smirked, they really should have brought proper weapons.
Isambard rolled onto his back and sat up, watching the dragon fly away. That had been far too close for comfort he decided.
"Do we have everyone?" he looked around, counting the heads of those that were with him. "Where is Azriel and Talia?"

Az gave a bit of a laugh and flopped back onto his back for a moment to catch his breath and get his heart to slow back down.
"Do you think it is safe to go out and see if the others are alright?" he asked.
Cyrus breathed heavily and moved slowly to crouch down beside Isambard. He checked his lord over briefly to make sure that he was unharmed, then looked back up the pass where they had come from.
"They were separated from us," he replied, feeling a bit of fatigue start to work its way into his large muscles.

Talia breathed in deeply and looked at the opening in the cave.
"I think so, I heard it go off into the distance." She stood, grabbed her pack and crept to the entrance.
"We should try and catch up."
Isambard looked back up the path they had come down and assessed the situation in his head.
"We should keep going, they know where we are headed and can catch us up. Don't you think?"

"You're right," Az agreed and picked himself up off the cave floor. Walking with her to the entrance, he peered out and then stepped back into the fresh sunshine. "I hope they are okay," he mused as he glanced back at her and began to pick his way back to where they had been when the incident had occurred.
Cyrus breathed in deeply and looked to the other men. They looked frightened and uncertain.
"We should keep moving forward and find a safe place to camp. I am sure they would be able to catch us up before tomorrow morning," he said with a small nod.

Talia slid her pack on and smiled at Azriel.
"Are you okay?" She asked, "I thought you were going to scream like a girl back there." She teased.
Isambard nodded in agreement with Cyrus.
"Let's press on." He said looking down into the valley. "The mines should be on that peak." He pointed straight across. "We can see if we can find shelter in the valley."

Az gave a snort of laughter and glanced back at her.
"Hey... not all of us can be as badass as some," he smirked and shifted his things on his back. "And you can't tell me you weren't scared," he grinned and glanced around. Down the way, he spotted a curl of dust and smoke. "Perhaps we should go towards that," he suggested and pointed to it.

Talia nodded.
"Not afraid really. Nervous perhaps." She shrugged. "I don't have much to lose. Well, the pups but they'd be okay, they're smart animals."

Az smiled though her words made him a little sad for her. He knew that people would get on without him, but he liked to think he made an impact. He was fairly certain that she did too.
"We'll have to work on that," he declared with a small smile.

Talia smiled at him and nodded, looking down into the valley, it was beautiful.
"Well I don't think we are too far behind, we should be with them by nightfall if they stop."
