When you imagine the future, what do you see? Flying cars? Robots? Cool hoverboards? Well, how ‘bout we venture to the year 3000 to see what it’s like…
The world isd nothing but a wasteland now. The only thing left is zombies and the occasional survivor. What had happened, you ask? In the year 2997 scientist Andrew Montague tried to create a cure for cancer. When he went to test this new found cure, it backfired. Badly. The multiple test subjects turned into zombie, and their first victim was Dr. Montague himself. The disease spread quickly, killing off almost everyone. Those who survived the initial spread either grouped up or went into hiding. Those who grouped up went around reeking havoc among the rest of the survivors, having nothing else to do. They killed any male in their path, but women… Women were rare. They couldn’t kill them. Instead they… Well, you can only imagine what awful, unspeakable things they did to women.
___ is one of the very last free women to roam the face of the Earth, mostly because she stayed in hiding for quite some time. But, also because she was immune to the virus. Now, you can only imagine how hard her life is, having to stay away from the infected and the men. Thankfully, she found herself a nice abandoned house to live in.
--- is also a survivor, and like her, he was immune. He had been avoiding the groups for quite some time now, always one step ahead.
Early one morning, --- had found a place to stay. Little did he know, there was someone else in this house. He awoke to screaming and shouting. Who could it be? When he went to investigate, he saw a girl. Not only was there a girl, but a girl surrounded by one of the groups. This particular group, he knew, they owed him for he had saved there asses a while back when their group was attacked by a TON of zombies. Deciding to save the poor girl, he gets there attention and reminds them of what he had did to help them. They were confused at first, but then he explained that in return for his favor, he wanted the girl. They agreed with a slight shrug, claiming they already had enough women. Now, of course ___ didn’t like the idea of going off to some man, but she had no choice in the matter. Naturally, she tried to get away from him, but he refused to let her leave. It wasn’t that he wanted to use her for his own selfish need, no! Not at all! He wanted to protect the girl, help her out a little. The reason? He could tell she was different, like him, and he would feel… almost guilty if he just let her go off and get taken by some group! Or worse- killed!

Ðαpħηε Jøy March 9, 3000 It was cold, freezing cold where Daphne was. Even though she was in a building, the she could still feel the harsh wind brushing against her skin. The only thing she had with her was a small bag -which contained some food, a small knife, water, and a walkie-talkie, which didn't even work- a blanket wrapped around herself, and the clothes she wore. Typically, this was all she needed to survive. Every now and then she'd have to roam around to find a creek and then raid an already empty store. This was life now, and to be honest, Daphne didn't mind. It wasn't like she had anyone or anything before all this happened.
Daphne watched through a shattered window as the sun went down. That was the only thing she really enjoyed now, since there was nothing else to really enjoy. Once the sun had dropped below the horizon, she curled up in the corner where she was practically invisible with the blanket wrapped around her, and slept.
Tap. Tap. Tap. The constant, ever so annoying sound of feet pattering around the ground awakened Daphne. She groaned and lifted her head, only to quickly hide under the blanket. There were men. Four, to be exact. They were rather silent, except their feet, and they were rummaging through her bag! If only that was the worst part... One of them had spotted her, and with a devious smirk on his face, put his finger to his lips, as if telling his group to stay silent. In the blink of an eye, the man was ripping the blanket from the now shivering girl's body. Daphne scurried to her feet, eyes wide with fear. All four men were pretty muscular, so Daphne knew instantly she couldn't fight them off. Maybe she could run? After all, she was small and fast... She darted for the nearest open window, but before she could even get there, strong arms were around her waist "Leaving so soon? But we just got here." The man holding her whispered in her ear, sending shivers down her spine. Daphne instantly began to struggle, kicking and hitting to try and get away from the man, but it was useless, considering she was so tiny and petite and he was so muscular and tall. "Let me go! Put me down!" She shouted, making the group chuckle. "Struggle all you want..." One of the horrid men mused, "It makes it fun." Another finished. "Stop! Leave me alone!" She shouted again, "Help!" Who was she kidding? No one would come to save her! No one was around to! And even if someone did come, they most likely wouldn't help, they would either watch, or worse, join.

Ίggy ЈENNINGS 〈March 9, 3000〉 〈~U/C~〉 〈~U/C~〉 ╔══════════════════════════════════╗ At one point in time people would of found a ramshackle house like this to be an eyesore, but for Iggy Jennings it was a sanctuary; it being abandon making in the more desirable. He had been traveling for over a week, exposed to the bone chilling wind and icy rains, not to mention that nights this far north were freezing! He had been wintering farther south, but a group of six males and 2 females had sniffed him out and given chase like bloodhounds. Only a fool would make a stand with the odds so heavily against them. The smart person ran and hide. Survival. That was the name of the game that life was choosing to play. The twenty year old silently dropped his bag on to the bed of a room in the very back of the house, second floor, leaning a bow and quiver of arrows against. Weary, watchful eyes constantly darted about the room as he unfurled his sleeping bag onto the bed. Dark circles and bloodshot eyes were the signs of his exhaustion. The weeks run had been a hard one taking him through woods and rocky terrain, never stopping for more than an hour or two. Jennings doubted that that particular group would travel to far out their normal territory but he had kept going anyway, being one step ahead was one of the few things keeping him alive.
He sat down on the edge of the bed and started unpacking then repacking his belongings. It had become a compulsive habit to check his belongings every night. Two pair of jeans, two shirts, a lighter jacket for when early spring would come around, and a change of underwear made up his wardrobe. A small frying pan and small pot, canteen of slightly stale water, three small plastic bags of jerky he had made from a deer he had fell a week before he had been force to flee. The last thing out the bag, pack, and first thing to go back in, was a small photo book. He never looked at the pictures inside, not anymore, not when forgetting might be better than remembering but he still never tossed the object away. With a tired sigh he zipped himself into the sleeping bag, secure in the knowledge that he had a knife shoved just under the pillow his head resting on, just in case he had need of it. Wouldn't be the first time.
<<...a few hours later...>>
An arrow whizzed past Dustin Maycroft's ear close enough for the burly man to feel its sting as it nicked him. The pointed missile buried itself in the wall beside him, the feathered end wobbling slightly "Oh damn, I missed." Jennings said with a sad sigh as he, "And here I was hoping to be ride of your ugly a**. I blame the lack of light in here." His sudden appearance made all four members start, not exactly expecting a lone male to walk into a group of four other males. In this day and age that was a suicide attempt. Jennings had been getting some decent sleep for once when he hard the struggle downstairs. A normal person would of ran leaving the unfortunate soul to his/her fate, thanking them in their prayers for buying them the time to escape. Yeah, Jennings had never been one to be considered. "Jennings! We haven't seen you around these parts in some time." one of the other men said, clearly making it clear that they all knew each other. Dustin just looked at Jennings. There was no love or friendship between them, just a simple understanding that their was a debt to be paid. Jennings had save this particular group from trouble some time before when their careless them had them surrounded by a group of infected. Dustin was the type of person who hated to be in another's debt. Jennings was the type of person who would just rather avoid people. Either way neither one of them want the other here at moment.
"Sooo, you owe me." Jennings stated, getting right tot he point. He looked over at the girl Dustin was holding, though it was really to dark to get a look a good look at her. She was small, petite. Just the kind this group liked to lord over. The fact that their was still a girl running about for them to find was amazing in itself. Either the infection took them or the groups found them. He hadn't seen a free girl in months. "I'm thinking the girl would be a good award." Dustin just shrugged and dropped his captive to the ground, muttering about how they had plenty anyway.╚══════════════════════════════════╝ OOC: sorry for the length and how boring it is...and how long it took me to post T-T

Ðαpħηε Jøy The petite girl was too busy struggling against her captor to notice the sudden appearance in the room. Well, that is, until an arrow was shot in the man she was struggling against's ear. At that point, she knew she was going to ultimately die. She would have anyway, but at least before she would have died in some sort of natural cause, not by a group of men! She saw the man as a distraction, though, which was good if the man holding her wasn't so damn strong! She squirmed more, but the grip on her waist seemed to tighten the more she struggled. Her eyes darted from the newcomer to the window, now if only he killed the man! Then she could have made a run for it.
As the men spoke, her eyes narrowed. So, she was going to be used to pay off a debt?! Who the Hell did they think she was?! Then again, girls these days were as good as cash. But, still, it was just wrong. Period. Once the man dropped her, she scrambled to her feet and glanced at her bag, which one of them was holding. Since she was no longer a captive of them, she did something most would consider crazy or stupid, but she didn't mind. Daphne stomped over to the man and snatched her bag from him. "Don't touch my stuff, ya' douche bag." She said before slinging the bag over her shoulder and quickly getting away from the male in case he tried to hit her or something.
With a small glance to the male who had basically saved her, she darted for the window, only to be grabbed - again. Only this time, instead of staying in the man's arms, she was tossed near the man they called "Jennings" like she was a rag doll! "Hey! Watch it, tough guy." She snarled, getting to her feet once more. Then, she spoke to Jennings. "I'm not some award, I'm a person. You know, civilized and worthy of respect, not how you men treat me." The group started leaving, to Daphne's relief. "Thanks for saving me and all, but I have to get going..." She paused for a moment, thinking of a good excuse. "Because my family is expecting me to bring them back some supplies. I can't just let them die." Proud of her excuse, she pushed past the male and started towards the actual door, not the window.

Ίggy ЈENNINGS 〈March 9, 3000〉〈Outfit〉〈~U/C~〉 ╔══════════════════════════════════╗ Jennings didn't make a move as the girl was thrown to the floor in front of him after her less than perfectly thought out plan to flee. He resisted the urge to sigh as she started on him, boldly stating her views on the prospect of her being an award. "Oh? So calling someone a douche bag is civilized? Hmm, I've been doing it wrong all these years!" he responded, looking at her with a raised eyebrow. With no other reason to be in the house Dustin motion for his men to get ready to leave. "Didn't bring anything with you this time?" one of the four, Marcus Jennings believe his name to be, asked. Jennings sadly shook his head. "Next time maybe." It was the only thing he could offer the guy.
The countryside was a dangerous place. Clans, groupings of men and the women they collected, had an iron hold on what they considered their territories. A loner might be able to live walking through a Clan territory, but roaming groups were most certainly cut down. The women of those groups either assimilated into the new group or trade to another group for resources. The Clans reeked havoc among each other. A friend that was alive today could very well be dead by the morrow. As bad as the countryside was, though, few dared to venture into the cities. Infected still prowled the streets, hungering always for fresh meat, and the few survivors that remained in the cities weren't much different. Countryside or City, for a loner either could spell a death sentence if they were spotted. By a large percentage men outnumbered women and decreasing the male population was an actual sport to some. So how did Jennings manage to stay alive? Easy, he knew how to play the game. You either stayed one step ahead of everyone else, or maybe yourself indispensable...the smart player did both. In short his title was that of Trader or Merchant, and with that also came the title of Treasure Hunter. Alone he'd venture into the cities, exploring abandon stores and pharmacies, looking for anything that might be left behind. Trading with groups he came across help him make allies, or at least made sure his hide stayed intact. In other cases, such as Dustin, he just happen to be in the right place at the right time to lend a helping hand. A group that owed you a life debt wouldn't kill you...most of the time. Sadly, his winter cargo was a part of what he had to leave back down south.
Dustin's group left, leaving Jennings and the girl alone, the latter of which immediately started talking. "Oh, really? You family?" He reached out and grabbed her bag, opening it and glancing at the contents, before tossing it back to her. "From the looks of your inventory they'll die one way or another. But lets be honesty why don't we. You don't have a family. No one has a family these days." Of all people Jennings was aware of that fact. He moved a bit so that he was blocking the door and looked at her, studying her. Here he had thought all the females had been accounted for, no more open range turkeys to be hunter. Hide well enough and you can avoid the Clans, but the infected...You didn't survive three years with out having some sort of trump card. "Little girl, as a business man it would be a bad investment to let my only merchandise wander off. Also, you owe me, and till you pay that debt off you aren't leaving my side...You might want to get some sleep, we leave at day break." He gestured to what was supposedly her blanket crumpled up on the floor. If he let her leave now Dustin's group would surly get her, and that would be a face worse than death.╚══════════════════════════════════╝

Ðαpħηε Jøy Daphne huffed at his response. "Well, it's more civilized than selling someone off to pay a debt. Unless you believe that is completely civilized." She retorted angrily, not liking how he dared to respond so sarcastically. "Besides, I could have said far worse."
When the group left and Daphne started on her way, the male started talking again. Then, he had the audacity to take her bag from her! Like it was something he did on the daily basis! She snatched it off the ground when he tossed it back and gave him a harsh glare. "I did have a family." She muttered under her breath. Realizing there was really no way of leaving with him standing in her way, she sighed and threw her bag on the ground. Daphne walked back to where she was laying, then turned to him. "Lemme clear some things up right now. First off, I may be small, but I am not young, so the name "little girl" doesn't suit me at all. Secondly, I'm not your merchandise. Lastly, I don't owe you anything, it was your choice to help me, not mine. OH, one more thing, you cannot tell me when I leave here. What's the point anyway, all that's left is dirt, rocks, and if you're lucky, a building for shelter every now and then." She yawned and sat against the wall, covering herself in the blanket. She was a little tired, after all. But, how could she sleep when she was with some guy she didn't know? Eventually, however, sleep got the best of her and she drifted off.
Daphne's dream was awful, making her wish she never went to sleep on the first place. Well, it wasn't exactly a dream, more like a memory...
Sarah, Daphne's little sister, ran around the park, laughing and shouting some nonsense no one could understand. Daphne watched her with a bright smile. "Alright, Sarah! Time to go home. I'm sure Mom has some delicious dinner ready! And if you eat all your dinner, Dad will let you have a brownie!" Sarah ran over to Daphne and smiled "What kind of brownie?" She questioned with her hands on her hips. "Chocolate, now get on your bike and let's go home." Sarah didn't argue, doing as told. "Race you home!" She shouted, getting a head start. Daphne laughed and ran after her, shouting things like "Cheater!" Or "I'm gonna win"
Once they got home, Sarah was laughing and pointing at Daphne, teasing her "I won and you lost, now you owe me half of your brownie." "No way, we didn't agree on that!" Daphne objected with a small laugh. Their father walked in and smiled, "Girls, no fighting, go wash up for dinner." They both went off to get ready for dinner, only to be interrupted by a loud clash and their mother's colorful vocabulary. Daphne ran to check it out. Her mother was standing before a broken dish, wide eyed. Daphne followed her gave to the large flat screen, where the news was on.
"We interrupt this program to bring you breaking news. There is a mass swarm of... What appears to be zombies on Main Street. We advise all who live near there to flee the area." There was a long pause before the anchorman spoke again, "Officials are evacuating the area right now. Please, stay away until we can get this under control. This is Hank Weatherford, please stand by for more information."
Bags were being thrown in the car as Daphne tried to calm Sarah. "It's alright, nothing to be afraid of. We're just going to visit Grandma for a little bit, okay?" Her words were short-lived when a man ran up the street "Run for your lives! It's the zombie apocalypse! We're all gonna die!" Sure enough, following slowly behind him was a group of... Zombies. Daphne froze. Well, how was she supposed to tell her sister this was alright?! It clearly wasn't! Before she even had time to react, the zombies were at her driveway. She grabbed her sister's hand, but Sarah refused to go. Instead, she ran over to her parents, who where currently getting in the car. Daphne ran inside the house to grab her bag, but when she came back, the car was gone. Daphne scanned the street and saw the car, stopped, flipped over, and surrounded by zombies. Seeing it as her only chance of living, Daphne ran in the other direction.
That's where the dream ended and Daphne awoke in tears. She glanced around and quickly wiped her tears. The sun wasn't even up yet, but Daphne refused to go back to sleep. Instead, she leaned against the wall and waited.

Ίggy ЈENNINGS ╔══════════════════════════════════╗ "I just meant that he might like more shoes." Lily, Iggy's ten year old sister said, looking slightly annoyed as the two boys sitting beside her on the bus started laughing. Behind her thirteen year old James slapped his sister on the head while rolling his eyes "Mom would like new shoes. Dad would probably just want a new laptop." An argument broke out between Iggy's siblings and the seventeen rolled his eyes and shot his best friend an amused look. Iggy and Mathis had planned to spend the day goofing off around town, but somehow his little siblings decided to make it into a shopping trip for their father's birthday. "We should of just ditched them" Mathis said. Iggy laughed and went to agree when there came the sound of screeching tires and honking horns. He looked up just in time to see a car heading for the bus, not about to slow down. He grabbed Lily but didn't have much time to do anything else.
"Iggy." Iggy groaned and opened his eyes, blocking till the blurriness was replaced by a clearer image. James was kneeling beside him, shaking his arm. The teenager was bleeding from a cut on his forehead. Beside him Mathis suddenly appeared with Lily in his arms. The girl was out cold, a bruise forming on the side of her head, but seemed other wise unharmed. "Come on, man, we have to go. Now!" It was only now that he was aware of the sound of screaming and crying, smoke drifting past, and fire crackling nearby. Iggy struggled to his feet, ignoring a stabbing pain in his ankle and followed James to a broken window. The bus was apparently on its side. "W-what the hell is going on?" Main Street was a complete mess. "Someone said something about a zombie apocalypse. I don't Know, Iggy, we just need to go now." He followed his friend through the street, avoiding people as much as they could. It was all so surreal which is probably why they-
Iggy's blue eyes snapped open and glanced around the room. Something was wrong, he could sense it, but what was it. Silence. That was what was bothering him. When he had drifted off to sleep there had been the sound of crickets chirping, but now..."Hey, get up." He said silently to the girl. He had seen she was awake so their was no need to be loud. He grabbed his backpack and slung it on before grabbing his bow. There was silence on all four side of them, and that could mean he was either extremely paranoid, or that they were surrounded. He took an arrow out of the quiver. "Go up the stairs and to the last bedroom. There should be a balcony. Once you hear them enter the house start climbing down. Head for the woods." He was hoping she'd be smart enough to infer that they were surrounded and do as he said.╚══════════════════════════════════╝ ooc: never apologize about it being to long ^-^..me on the other hand I'm going through a block >.<...any chance that can plot some of this out?

Ðαpħηε Jøy Daphne grumbled and stood, "I am up." She muttered in response, grabbing her own backpack and searching through it. She pulled out a water bottle and took a sip, looking around the building. When he spoke, her gave settled on him and she frowned. "What, you think I'm too weak to fight a few soulless corpses?" After a few seconds, she finished, "Never mind, Don't answer that." Because, his answer was most likely a yes, considering how he saw her last night. The girl huffed and shoved the water bottle and blanket back in her bag, then zipped it up and slung it over her shoulder. Knowing he would argue with her until she gave up, Daphne started up the stairs. "Fine. But, don't think this means you can just boss me around any time you want, I'm just doing this because I'm not in the mood to argue at the moment." She called down to him. Once she got up the stairs, she looked around and smiled. It was quiet, peaceful, nice... Sighing softly, she walked down the hall to the bedroom. Noticing the balcony, she smiled and walked out onto it. Daphne leaned her back onto the rails and frowned. The world has gone to Hell, and all that was left was her and a few other people. Great. What was the point in even living?
Her thoughts were interrupted by a loud, long moan. She whirled around to look out at the world below. Yup, sure enough there were zombies not too far away. She grinned and called out, knowing her voice was loud enough for Iggy to hear. "Have fun!" It was a sarcastic remark, but that was just her. She swung her leg over the rail and looked down. It wasn't too far down... With a shrug, she swung her other leg over and climbed down the side of the house. Maybe, if she got far enough, Iggy wouldn't be able to find her and she would be home free! Or, he would just get infected or eaten. If she was lucky. With the thought fresh in her mind, she headed off towards the woods, lucky enough to go unnoticed by the undead.
After she had walked for a while, Daphne decided it would be safe to stay where she was and rest. She climbed up a tree and took off her backpack, hanging it on a thick branch. Making sure she was concealed in a number of thick branches, leaves, and pine cones, she leaned against the trunk and closed her eyes. A little rest wouldn't hurt, especially since she had nothing else to do.
