Spurred on by watching reviews of princess movies. And some general being plain odd.
Anywho.
Story starts in the waning moments of what appears to be a climax. Giant demon gets destroyed by knight in shining armor, the person who had been channeling the giant demon is freed from its control, princess is saved, big kiss scene.
Only..... The land is still barren. Trees still maintain the black leaves that warn of the demon's coming. There's still a gray filament that clouds the sky. None of the damage that the demon did is going away, and all still looks grim. Albeit less grim.
Exposition character, who I'll just say is the queen('cause apparently they're rare in princess flicks) explains that the heir kissing the one they love is supposed to activate some sort of thing which removes curses upon the land and some s**t, and the ability to do that was passed on to the princess. And she's genuinely confused as to why the knight who had only known the princess for three days couldn't fix the curse.
So to the library with a slight bit more plot related bullshit. There they find a book of questionable legitimacy that says the only way for said royal blood to work would be if the kiss happened upon a special altar under the full moon. The one most effected by the curse would act as a guide, bringing the two to the altar and closer together as they approached it.
They thus bring along the medium. A middle class woman who until recently was of no great renown. There had been an incident that involved her and the princess, they became friends, and she began acting weird until such a point that the whole demon thing occurred. They reminisce about what had already happened at points as they go along, but the key thing is that nobody's happy about the arrangement.
And as a byproduct of being possessed by the demon, the woman's got some evil magic ability. That can be put to good use.
So they're sent out to find the altar, despite none of them knowing where it is, one of them kind of hating the other two, and the other two hating the one. There's very little cooperation, and it takes a while for them to let bygones be bygones.
During their search, they naturally run into trouble, and begin to hate each other less. They help a town that's getting attacked by bandits, allowing the princess to demonstrate that not all royalty members are are useless by utilizing diplomacy. Along the way the knight gets pissed at the two women constantly berating each other and attempts to force them to both continue searching and get along better.
Somewhere along the way, formerly possessed girl looks longingly at the moon and claims that no matter how deeply you love something, sometimes it just isn't possible for them to be together. If this is confusing, good.
So they continue. Eventually they start working together, and contributing to the discussion of where they might look next. Much of the time it's extremely whimsical and the knight steps forth to give it more direction.
They run into leftover demonspawn, a plethora of residual dark holes to the abyss, and civilians furious at the continued state of the land. Everyone's starving, crime is at an all time high, and the kingdom looks to be on the verge of collapse, but the three have no idea what they're doing wrong. They've looked literally everywhere, searched for clues in the library, asked around, and found nothing.
Nadda.
For the first time, the princess begins to break down, her fear overcoming her gentle facade. Despite giving off a neigh constant air of confidence up until this point, her doubt surfaces, revealing an altogether self loathing individual who goes out of her way to make people happy. The knight has never seen anything like it, and can't really empathize because he's of a different mindset, so he tells the formerly possessed lady to try and help her calm down.
Trying to cheer her up quickly proves to be pointless as, quite frankly, everything looks pretty damn bad. She points out that if she loves the knight, everything will be perfectly fine, but she admits to having no feelings for him.
So the formerly possessed tries a different approach. She talks about herself, and how the demon got its hold on her. How it had taken advantage of her fears, doubts, guilt, and sense of hopelessness. How she had found the object of her obsession, 'the moon', and the demon used her feelings surrounding it to gain control.
She then turns it around and admits that her mentioning of the moon was actually a reference to the princess, and reveals the motives of her earlier attempt that ended up using the demon just as much as it used her. To steal the princess all for herself.
Horrified, the princess shuns her, and the knight chases after her as she flees, leaving the formerly possessed to become possessed once again. All looks many times worse than it had ever been before, giant climax scene. Gigantic fights'n stuff, demons all around, giant demon chief among them. And just as everything looks lost, the princess claims "I love you too".
Seemingly out of shock, the giant demon stumbles backward into a mountain and dissipates. Because yes, this is going to be hella cheesy. As it crashes, it takes a good portion of the mountain's face off revealing nothing less than the lunar altar.
Obligatory s**t that details how the characters get up after the fight, yadda yadda, the three go to the lunar altar. And it ends with the princess in the center of the screen, formal attire, and the other two members of the main cast waiting at the altar.
Just to be cheesy as hell.
And maybe to piss the hell out of some people I'd love to piss the hell out of.
