Yi smiled and brushed her hair and tail. It felt relaxing to just be sitting here with her.
He didn't say much, just hoped she was feeling relaxed after a long day of travels.
"Well, at least we can sleep in tomorrow." he said trying to strike up a conversation, "I would like to see some of the sights before we leave."

Her ears swiveled halfway listening to him. Sometimes, when you were in a room with someone when it was quiet and noone spoke; there was a bit of awkwardness. If she were honest, she'd admit it didn't really feel like that much. She had a little awkwardness, but it had nothing to do with comfort between them. It had more to do with her feeling a little worried. In the end, she mused to herself. ~What harm can come of having my hair brushed? Not much, right? I mean. hmm. I'm sure it's ok.~
Then, after a light twitch of her tail that swished back and forth a time, she turned her head a tad. "Of course, we'll check out the town. What if we never ended up back here for a long time. Or.. ever even. Sure, I wanna try harder to be here for it next year, but you just never know. Sometimes lots of things happen you don't expect. I definitely wanna sample a lot of their food. Stock up on stuff to take with us. Have you ever been to Nuha? I wonder what it's like there too." She really was. The idea of going new places and having adventures started to rekindle her adventurous spirit. That spirit started to quiet the concerns in her mind. She was on an adventure. Let whatever come what may.

He listened and smiled as she spoke, his smile growing wider still as she exhibited remorse and regret at having missed the festival. "Perhaps next year. I'm sure it will be even better than this year." Soal's smile fell a bit as she spoke of her hume, his heart heavy. "I did once. But one day he left and never came back. I was old enough to look after myself, so I got by okay. Forgive me, I don't like talking about it. Thinking about the whys makes my head and heart hurt." He forced a smile before sighing. "Now, the mood is all grim, why not change the subject. We could talk about your trip here. I gather it was quite an adventure."

Yi smiled as she talked. Sometimes it was just good enough that a person listining.
"We could go to Nuha, and then try to be back for the Winter Festival?" Yi said brushing her hair carefully. Women and hair, one misplaced strand and they went nuts. Ecchh. "I hear it's even better than the Fall Festival. Even said to be the best one of the year by many standards." he chuckled and said, "I can't wait to eat the winter treats." Just the thought of the Frost Cakes that were yearly traditions made his mouth water. Where was dinner anyway?
"No I have not been to Nuha, but I would like to see a much as I can with Akiko before we go our separate ways next spring." He felt a pang of sadness, but refused to give in. "It would be nice to see it." He thought about that for a moment and then said, "Aria would be nice to see too, but I would really like to see Sibyl."
He smiled at her and peered around her head, "Would you like your hair braided?"

Akiko felt sad the subject of his Hume made him sad. It was just the way she was, caring for injured birds and all.....
She nodded her understanding, and smiled at the thought of her trip here.
"Well, it was quite interesting." she said remembering the swamp, "Though it's not something I would want to repeat anytime soon!"
The Ka'eo chirped, and Akiko smiled down at it.
"We had to go through a swamp for this one, I wouldn't hesitate doing it again, but I'd rather avoid it!"
She laughed at her adventure and felt better.
"How about you? I bet you had some adventures!" She smiled brightly at him.

The brushing was soothing. She wasn't as particular as a lot of females in terms of every hair having to be in a particular laying down, but the sensation of it around her scalp. It sent trickles of sensation down her spine as well. It was relaxing almost to a point of putting her in a trance at times. The fact they were thinking about adventures was likely what kept her from liquidating into a pile of goo drooling in a trance.
Every city he listed, her eyes looked around the room as her mind thought about that. She heard that quality in his voice mentioning his separating with Akiko. Carmen just made an awkward face. She wasn't going to say anything about that. She had hardly met and got to know these two. That was family business, and she wasn't about to step into it. Then again, she didn't know what it was to have another kyresue in her life and experience of being separated from them either.
"I'm all for going everywhere. Life is for the living. Why not have endless adventures seeing all there is to see. Hmm. Wonder if we'd be able to be back here that soon. And, aren't there towns north of this area that celebrate winter style things all year?"
She then was thinking about just wearing the towel she had for a while. Or, finding a robe or something. She peered back quickly. "Were you still thinking about finding someone to wash my clothes?"

Yi smiled and stopped brushing her fir and hair.
"There are towns north of here yes," he said getting up and going to a brown paper package that was tied with string. He had sent out her laundry when he had come up from shopping, he picked it up and took it to her, "But I am not going there... Perhaps a town called Kemp, but no further north."
Yi held in his anger at the information he had gathered about Derya. about those mountains. Apparently one of the towns up there has, for a while, cut off all communication, and all tales that refugees of the place have told of dark dealings.
He shook his head, and then smiled at Carmen hoping she did not see, "Your clothes my lady." he said holding out the package, "Freshly pressed and delivered while we bathed."
He then tilted his head and looked at her thoughtfully, "If you wish, I have an extra nightgown my Hume has given me." He smiled sheepishly, "Akiko finds them excellent to steal and sleep in, so I am offering you the last clean one before she gets to it!"

She looked up at him earnestly. "Gee. You've just... done a whole bunch of things for me since we got here. Kind of makes me feel like I owe you something." She looked off a little awkwardly.
She took the paper package and opened it. She sniffed at her clothes looking all clean. They were still slightly warm, and she quickly undid the towel that was on her and slipped into her little outfit. She smiled at herself despite of herself. "Ok. So.. we're not going north. Got it. There are still plenty enough places to go see." Then, she heard him offer for the nightgown. "Huh? Oh really? You sure about that? Heck yeah I'll use it! Am I just using it today? Or, is this for hte trip or ...?" She wasn't sure if she was getting to keep this or not.

Yi smiled, "Keep it." He went over to her and handed her the nightgown, "My Hume can get me more."
It was big even for Yi. It had belonged to his Hume's husband while he was alive, but after his death, she hadn't known what to do with it, so when Yi came along, he got to keep anything that had been his.
He looked down at her and said, "I don't mind doing things for people I like." he said seriously. He shrugged and said, "I just thought you might like a few nice things on the trip."
He looked at her a moment more, torn. Then he moved away and went back to the chair he had occupied when she came in. He looked at her and wondered what it was that made him be so kind to her, a virtual stranger....

"A swamp, huh? Sounds messy." Soal chuckled softly. He tipped his head to the side, considering his few small travels. "I wouldn't call them adventures persay. I do a lot of traveling back and forth from here to Nuha, studying. Uneventful stuff really. But you meet many intereting Kyresue along the way." He smiled over at her, "So how did you and your brother meet Miss Carmen?"
