It's more of a gospel type song, thats why, but it has absolutely nothing to do with aside from the fact that Jonathon Larson wrote it and the cast of the movie sung it for the CD.
I like it.. to a certain extent. I'm surprised I like Seasons of Love, because I usually just don't like gospel of any shape or form.

At first I didn't like this song. Until a couple nights ago when I really listened to it, and it quite nearly had me in tears. I like the song, I just can't think of it as a song from Rent.
And I agree, I don't think it's supposed to be the characters singing about it.

I like it, not A LOT, but I think it's a pretty song. And I agree that it's not supposed to be the characters, but more the actors. I mean, it's meant to be able to be sung out of context.

Well, I personally love it because it reminds us of how important friends and loved ones are. And that is RENT.

Love it! but not as much as the actual RENT songs. But I do think it's the actors, not the characters.
