Howdy. Here I shall pose random questions which shall hopefully lead to conversations which will offer some insight into your guildmates. =)

To start off simply, What is your favorite piece of writing and how has it influenced you in your every day life?

I have many favorites as far as writers go and for the majority of time, I stick to horror. However, my favorite literary figure is Sherlock Holmes. Growing up, I was a dork. Brainy type that was too big to get picked on. So I was too smart for the jocks and too athletic for the nerds and never felt like I fit in. But Sherlock Holmes taught me that Smart Guys can be bad asses and gave me a new outlook on how I could be.

So what about you? =)

Hi there, call me Kia:

Favorite piece of writing eh? Hm let's see...Well, like you I have many, but I will start with how I got into reading in the first place.

I abhorred reading as a kid and even through some of high school. You could not get me to read anything outside of school. And then...I discovered manga. Oh the joys of shonen jump and shojo beat. I started to read manga and collect manga nonstop from age 13 to like 16.

That was when my parents had had enough of my manga fanaticism and decided to buy me a really thick book called Meg: Underwaters or something like that. That was how I started reading regular books and not graphic novels.

And then somehow I started to hang out in bookstores and so far, my favorite series is The Hollows by Kim Harrison. The main character's name is Rachel Mariana Morgan and she's this witch who works for the Inderland Bureau. I'm not going to get into the details, there are 11 books in total, with the last book coming out sometime next year.

But what I love about Rachel is that she is a strong courageous woman, something that I hope to achieve. She has taught me that you can be a woman and STILL be tough and keep your feminist attributes instead of becoming a tomboy.

So yes, same as you, Rachel gave me a new outlook on how I could be too.

Hiya, Stacy reporting in *gasp* yes I'm still alive biggrin

I have recently come to realize that I tend to write of tragedy, post-apocalptic, dysotpian, fantasy, and science fiction related material; often mixing the majority all together with a dash of boy love (and girl love and straight love, because why limit myself!) Yeah...I'll try writing anything. hopefully that isn't bad.

Growing up I read because it was expected of me, but as we all know you can never enjoy something that you are forced to do. Add to this that my dad and grandmother were strict about not only what I could watch but what I could read. (in other worlds they were really religious and things like pokemon and dbz were sins...but yet whatever) Because of this I couldn't enjoy reading fully.

4th grade changed all that. In 4th grade I snuck home the first Harry Potter book. In 4th grade I read my first Tales of Redwall book. In 4th grade I would read something in a test that had me searching libraries for years till I found the book it came from in 8th grade, and finally started reading that series in 10th grade.

We all know what Harry Potter is so lets just skip along to the Tales of Redwall. I included a link because I really can't explain the series and do it justice. Yeah its a children series, but then Harry Potter was as well. This series sparked my interested in reading and I use to spend time outside running around and pretending I was one of the many characters. (my favorite were the hares from the long patrol)

My all time favorite series is the Dragonriders of Pern by Anne McCaffrey. It is a sci-fi fantasy series and is very intersting and awesome. Sadly the author passed away leaving some o the series for Dragonrider undone. On the bright side her son is a talented writer who has already added well written novels to the stories and the rumors is he plans on finishing it.. Anne Macaffrey also wrote a sci-fi serices called the Catteni series

I really love her work. Other things that influence me is manga, anime, movies, music, pretty much anything. I can go on all day about books but I don't want to bore

Kait here!

I was kind of spoiled growing up book wise. Both of my parents are huge nerds that are constantly reading, so a lot of my bedtime stories were either my dad telling adventures from his childhood under the pseudonym of Cowboy Willy, or my mom would read me chapters from whatever she deemed appropriate enough for a five year old, haha. That's why I almost failed the first grade, because the flimsy little "the ball is blue" books didn't interest me and I was a total book snob and refused to read them.

But throughout high school, I just kept expanding my reading list. I wasn't popular and I didn't have many friends and I was the stereotypical overweight, acne, glasses, and braces riddled nerd who preferred going online and reading than going to parties and such. A lot of work that I prerfer to read are considered classical literature. However, this has reminded me to add a few books onto my christmas list!
