As soon as you say 18+ I think porn, so as soon as you mention an 18+ site, I think of yay porn site, mind my sarcasm. Let's not forget gambling too.
It's all as well gaians going across to use it, but I shudder to think what other people who come in new would turn the place into. As soon as you put 13+ it puts some restriction onto activities that are allowed on this site 18+ turns it into a 'anything goes' essentially

I have no interest whatsoever in joining an 18+ social site.
If I wanted 18+ content, I would visit a porn site. If I wanted random internet creepers to talk to, I would join Facebook or Twitter.
I specifically enjoy Gaia because I can talk to people, perhaps make the occasional dirty joke, but still keep things clean enough that I don't have to hide my laptop screen in a public place. Gaia is fun because you can access it from anywhere- in a cafe, at work during breaktime, from a school computer, etc- and it's completely acceptable. I have yet to come across any site that has the tag 18+ on it that fits into the "work appropriate" (aka, you can visit us from public computers) category.
And since I work at a library and get to monitor some of the computer usage, I've seen a lot of websites. -.-

The Vic Viper  The more I see people turned away from Gaia Interactive as a company, the more I have suspicions that their efforts for the 18+ are going to be a catastrophic flop.
They might use some of the revenue for advertising on other sites, but the majority of the userbase expected for this new site will most likely be Gaians.
But will Gaians go? I'm sure a few will, out of curiosity. But a quite large amount of users who have stuck with this site are being burned by the company's decisions, and swearing off everything except the main site of Gaia, itself, because of nostalgic attachment and the effort they've put on. As well as everything being shut down due to laying off coders and such, like zOMG and several of the games.
They will, however, have no such attachment to this new site. There won't be years' worth of friendships and item gaining and participation giving them a reason to stay.
And, with the way people are closing their wallets left and right, I don't see many people paying for the new site.
So I'm not very hopeful on the outlook of this new site, nor the money that they are probably trying to siphon from the users at the cost of customer loyalty to fund it.
I think it's going to be a giant waste of time and money.
i can only assume it will be an even bigger sinkhole, however i really can't make a solid opinion until i see it for myself
