Appearance

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬┤|ρ є r ѕ σ η α ℓ • ∂ α т α|├▬
Full Name: Yoshirou Miyagi, formerly Jiang.
Nickname: Not truly a nickname, but Yoshirou possesses an alter-ego, known only as "Israphel." Also, older members of the Gotei know him as The Ebony Wall.

True Age: Yoshirou is about 2800 years old, give or take a few years.
Age Appeared: He appears to be a young man in his early 20's, shall we say 23?
Birthdate: November 28th
Gender: Male
Ethnicity: Yoshirou looks to be of East Asian descent.
Blood Type: O

Sexuality: Yoshirou's heterosexual. Israphel isn't turned on by anything, regardless of gender.

Height: 78 inches, or 6' 6". Of course, that's when he's not slouching, which is extremely rare, as Yoshirou is an absolute slob.
Weight: 150 lbs (Yes, I'm aware he's a toothpick.)
Eye Color: Yoshirou's one visible eye is green. The other one probably is too, but no living man has seen his right eye, with the exceptions of some very, very old captains.
Hair Color: A very vibrant blond, like a ray of sunlight.

Life View: Yoshirou likes to wander around, enjoying life's many experiences, and broadening his horizons. He hates work, and isn't terribly motivated to do much of anything, unless it involves sake and games. He's very optimistic, and his cheery, almost air-headed personality has been called "contagious" and "annoyingly consistent."
Personality: Yoshirou is a complete child at heart, loving nothing more than the simple freedoms of running around and playing games. Though he appears simple-minded because of this, it couldn't be further from the truth. Behind his contented, happy facade lies the mind of a cold and calculating genis. Yoshirou is what could be considered insane. He possesses two personalities: Yoshirou Miyagi, carefree vagabond, and Israphel, insane murderer.

Likes:
Yoshirou likes to run around in grass and catch bugs. He also enjoys sleeping, napping, resting, laying down, recuperating from life, and siestas. Cloud-watching has been a hobby of his since his life in the World of the Living, and it still holds a special place in his heart. Though he rarely gets the chance to, Yoshirou is fond of sculpting as well. Israphel likes watching things die, particularly in as spectacular a fashion as possible.
Dislikes
Ever one to shy away from work, Yoshirou hates anything that requires large amounts of effort. Cooking, cleaning, filling out paperwork, he hates all of it. Israphel hates the living.

Division: 8
Rank: Captain
Side: The Sereitei?

Yoshirou Miyagi was born Jiang Zhongyong, a soldier in the service of Emperor Li, during the heyday of the Zhou Dynasty. He was born the son of a lower noble, an ex-mercenary who had gained fame through his brutal work, and the daughter of a rich merchant. His father still young, strong, and working, Jiang grew up learning to read and write, as well as training daily with his father. It was in this simple training that Jiang grew to love battle, and to seek it. Such an opportunity came soon to the 15-year old Jiang, in the form of an order decreed by Emperor Ku, to capture and execute a warlord who had refused to pay tribute to the mighty emperor.

Jiang loaded up with his father's company, just another soldier in a force of nearly 1500 strong, young men. His first experience with battle would be a memory that he held with him throughout his life. The first charge consisted of fifty horsemen riding down a shallow hill, throwing spears as they approached, drawing their sabers to cut down the opposing men. The stench clung to the ground, the smell of flesh and the sounds of dying men permeating through the land.

As for Jiang, he saw no small portion of battle himself. On that fateful day, the young man slew ten others, literally crawling out of a pile of bodies at the end of the first day. The smell of blood was absolutely intoxicating to Jiang, who swiftly became addicted to battle. When the time came to execute the remaining soldiers, Jiang rose to take the position of executioner, relishing in the dying of the soldiers.

When he and his father returned with their company, they were hailed as heroes, receiving a gift of horses and land from the Emperor. Jiang was simply looking forward to the next battle, however, and actually left his home as soon as possible, taking only a small sum of money with him, to make his own name.

Work wasn't hard to come by. When he first arrived in a town nearly 50 miles away from his own, the first thing he did was to join up with a mercenary company that was spending a few days there. Impressed by the young man's ability with a spear, he was added to the company, all of whom then embarked on a small campaign the next week.

Jiang stayed with the company for nearly 10 years, eventually making a name for himself in the kingdom. Just as life seemed to be going splendidly for the young and bloodthirsty soldier, tragedy struck. His father fell from atop his horse whilst travelling to meet with Emperor Ku. His body was taken by bandits, and burned, his head delivered to his mother's home. When Jiang came back, all that remained of his father was his burned head.

The young man fell into a deep depression, quite literally drinking his life away, for nearly three years, until a few friends "kidnapped" him and got him clean over the course of a few months. When he re-entered the same mercenary group, they welcomed him in like family, helping him to restore some of his lost pride in himself.

Jiang's death came as no surprise to anyone. He was 45 years old. He had ridden at the head of a charge, sweeping down entire rows of enemy troops with a massive eighteen foot long polearm, before his horse was shot down by an archer. The two went down hard, the horse breaking it's neck, but landing badly atop Jiang, whose arm was surely broken. Never one to back down, the hardened veteran crawled out on his stomach, literally slicing his way through the horse at times, and stood up, covered in horse blood. Using his injured arm to hold his shield, he led a second charge down a hill, to the enemy camp. He was shot three times; once in the leg, and twice in the shoulder. Neither of these injuries stopped Jiang either. He sprinted down the last stretch of the hill, being shot another time, this time in the ribs. It was only a grazing wound though, and the leader finished his charge, slicing open too many men to count. Finally, he reached their leader, an imposing behemoth of a man, atop an equally massive black horse. The man ran down Jiang, piercing him through the chest with his spear. Surprisingly, Jiang held on, literally impaling himself further on the spear, until he could get a chokehold of the leader, never letting go, until the man's neck had been cleanly split. Jiang, hero of Southern China, legend of the Zhou Dynasty died atop a hill of bodies, propping himself up on the man's dead horse, the spear still embedded deeply through his chest.

He woke up in the Soul Society, in district 78 of South Rukongai, Inuzuri. It was a District infested with killers and thieves, cutthroats and criminals. The veteran, resurrected as a much younger man of only 20, relished the challenge. For nearly five years he fought tooth and claw for the right to live, and after many months of reputation building in other districts, the last twenty districts of South Rukongai all knew of the fearsome fighter.

It was on a stiflingly hot day that Jiang saw his first Shinigami face to face, as the young man had no recollection of the Shinigami who had brought him to the Soul Society. He had been living in Inuzuri for almost a score of years, and he was respected among the District as a strong, but honorable young man, as he had still aged very little. The man he saw was tremendously tall, probably seven feet or more in height, and wore a ragged white cloak over his black uniform, signalling him as a captain. He had long, greasy looking black hair, the ends braided into dreadlocks. His skin was a ruddy tan color, his face hard-set and grim. He came to the young Jian, looked him up and down, and simply said two words.

"This one."

Three members, presumably of the captain's division, advanced on Jiang, drawing wooden boken. They tossed one to him, and told him to fight if he wanted to live. The young man felt fear for the first time in half a century. Determined not to die a second time, Jiang fought, and he fought, and he fought. It seemed like hours, that he fought, until a boken broke, and even then, he fought with the jagged remnants of it, slicing open a fighter's cheek, until even the boken's remnants were roughly kicked out of his hand.

Jiang thought he was going to die. A sort of serenity began to take over, welling up in his chest, slowing his breathing and calming his frenzied mind. He stood slowly, and simply moved on instinct, snatching a boken out of one man's hand and breaking it over his back. The second, whose face had been bloodied, met a similar fate, with Jiang simply grabbing him by the back of the head and crushing him against a wooden wall. The third jumped on Jiang's back, clubbing him with the boken, but he too was thrown off, and kicked, his skull bursting like a watermelon after a few minutes.

The captain simply stood, grinning a wolfish grin and clapping slowly. He congratulated Jiang, and then stood, drawing his actual sword. He advanced on Jiang, and simply cut him down, slicing open his chest. Jiang was nearly dead. He was certain he would be left to bleed on this earth, the last of his life seeping out into the dirt of Inuzuri. No! He couldn't die like this. He wouldn't die lying down. Grabbing the dirt with his bare hands, he forced himself to stand, still bleeding profusely. He looked up to the captain, defiance clear on his face, and grabbed the hilt of his blade, his fist clenched tightly around it.

When the Shinigami tried to pull away, Jiang held tightly to it, refusing to let go of it even when the captain turned the sword on him, slicing cleanly through his chest a second time. Even as he blacked out, he didn't let go.

Jiang woke up in an infirmary bed, the captain sitting quietly by him. A nurse came by, changed his bandages, cradled his head as he was fed broth, and then she left, leaving him with the captain who had almost killed him.

The man's name was Kenpachi Muramasa, the Captain of Squad 11, and the 6th Kenpachi to hold the name. He wanted Jiang to join the Sereitei. Seeing no better future for himself, Jiang joined the Gotei, eventually rising throughout the ranks to take the vacant captain position of Squad 8 Captain nearly 550 years ago.

Reiatsu Color: Yoshirou's reiatsu is a very light green, the color of new grass. Israphel's is a pallid gray, that of a rotting corpse.

Strengths:
Immense Defensive Capabilities: Yoshirou possesses perhaps one of the strongest defensive Zanpakutou. While he isn't terribly quick, nor is he an incredibly vicious opponent, it takes extremely powerful attacks to get past one of Yoshirou's walls.
Experience: As a rather... ancient... captain, Yoshirou possesses ridiculous amounts of experience, from both of his lifetimes. While his body is nowhere near the same as it used to be, Yoshirou still has his impressive knowledge of tactics and strategy. He is a crafty opponent, who prefers to outsmart his opponents and kill them when they are weakened, as opposed to a head-on assault.
Weaknesses:
Speed: Due to both his age, as well as the defensive nature of his Zanpakutou, Yoshirou is by no means the fastest of Shinigami. His speed isn't terrible, but it's generally slower than the other Captains.
Israphel: Deep within Yoshirou's subconscious, lies a crazed, psychotic murderer known only as Israphel. When Yoshirou is in danger, Israphel can generally come out, similar to an Inner Hollow, but Israphel is a mindless beast. His commitment to Yoshirou is practically nonexistent; he'll try to not let Yoshirou die, but if it happens, so be it. Though Yoshirou takes special measures to not let Israphel out, the danger is still there. Yoshirou's eyepatch serves a special purpose. Hundreds of years ago, Israphel broke loose, taking control of Yoshirou. While it was only for about seven minutes, the ensuing carnage was enough that Yoshirou truly sat and thought about leaving the Soul Society far behind him, in order to keep his companions safe. After a long process of thinking, he came up with an alternative solution. Teaming up with the then-current captain of Squad 12, the two men entered Yoshirou's mind, to defeat Israphel in the same way that some shinigami must defeat their Zanpakuto spirits. This ordeal took two entire days of straight on battle, and even then, it was a close call. The two men managed to restrain Israphel, locking him to a physical part of Yoshirou, that being his right eye. However, they still weren't finished. The right eye entrapped him, but it wasn't too hard to get out. That was what the eyepatch was for. It acts as a barrier, literally blocking any light from coming to his right eye, lest Israphel break loose and kill more innocent people. However, not even that was enough, and sixty-four seals were placed on the eyepatch, forcing Israphel deeply into Yoshirou's subconscious, and not letting him back out. Though he cannot break all sixty-four seals on his own, Yoshirou has the ability to loosen the first four, allowing a little bit of Israphel to seep out, in case Yoshirou ever has need of his killer instincts. To seal up the barriers, Yoshirou needs to post in RP the number of the seal times a hundred words, i. e. first seal broken = 100 words, second seal broken = 200 words, etc. Therefore, should he need to break the first four seals, he needs to post in RP at least 1000 words before he can go back to being sane.
Fears:
• Israphel coming out
• Something bypassing his walls and hurting those he protects
• Paperwork

▬▬┤|Sealed Zanpakutpo

Zanpakuto Name: 黒檀の心臓部 Kokutan no Shinzō-Bu (Heart of Ebony)
Zanpakuto Location: Worn across the back, with the handle peaking out to the right.
Zanpakuto Appearance: Appearance
Zanpakuto Spirit Appear.: Kokutan no Shinzō-Bu
Zanpakuto Sword Type: Wakizashi
Zanpakuto Type: Hybrid Defensive Type

▬▬┤|Shikai Release

Shikai Name: Kokutan no Shinzō-Bu
Shikai Incantation: Hold steady, Kokutan no Shinzō-Bu!
Shikai Description: Kokutan no Shinzō-Bu (Just the armor) is thought to be a primarily defensive zanpakuto. In fact, when he was a captain in the Gotei 13, Yoshirou's shikai and bankai were thought to be among of the most impenetrable defenses that the Soul Society had, earning him the name The Ebony Wall. However, unbeknownst to most, Kokutan is actually a hybrid offensive-defensive type, what Yoshirou refers to as a "sleeping bear." This means that in Shikai, it's generally defensive, but there are one or two extremely powerful offensive moves. In Bankai, he loses any semblance of defense and goes absolutely berserk on an opponent. Yoshirou hasn't actually released his bankai in at least a few hundred years, so most people think he's purely defensive. Of course, he very rarely even releases his Shikai in the first place, as it usually diminishes the length of a fight. He can only use each barrier once per battle, and there has to be three posts between each barrier. Whilst using a barrier, he cannot attack. Both of these parameters apply to Bankai as well.
Shikai Ability:

1. Kokuyogan, or Obsidian. Yoshirou crosses his two swords, forming a cross. Purple smoke seeps from the cross, enlarging it until is a diamond nearly twenty feet tall and ten feet wide. The smoke hardens upon impact, becoming an almost impenetrable wall. It can withstand attacks up to lt. level before breaking. In addition, he doesn't need to keep his swords in the crossed position after it's formed, and it can stay for up to two posts. He can move it at will, using it as more than just a shield if need be.

2. Banrinochojo, or Great Wall. This is essentially a far stronger version of Kokuyogan. This time, Yoshirou has to hold the swords in the crossed position, but not only is the diamond now a massive quarter-sphere measuring fifty feet in length and fifteen feet in height, it is now far stronger, and can withstand up to a captain-level attack before breaking. Also lasts two posts.

3. Fukantai, or Dead Zone. Yoshirou sweeps out with both swords, creating a half-sphere, with a radius of 25 feet. This sphere can withstand up to 1 captain-level attack, or three Lt. level attacks, and it lasts three posts. The Dead Zone has one special property though. Whilst in the dead zone, kido and other energy based techniques are cancelled, leaving only two combatants and their zanjutsu/hand-to-hand skills to use. Can be used once per battle. Someone of Captain-level strength, or with enough willpower can shatter the shield.

4. Kuroi Shinzo, or Black Heart. This is Yoshirou's primary Shikai attack. He swings out with first one sword, sending out a thorned, whip-like tendril of black reiatsu, then swings out with the other, sending a second. The two will come at each other, not only lacerating an opponent, but wrapping them up. Lasts one post.

5. Kokutan no Kabe, or The Ebony Wall. This is the technique that gave Yoshirou his feared nickname. Yoshirou plants both swords in the ground, as far apart from each other as his arm-span will allow. Purple smoke erupts from the cracks, and forms a massive purplish black wall, measuring almost 1000 feet in length and two hundred in height. This wall lasts one post, and appears instantly, fading after the attack has been absorbed. Can be used three times per battle, to block up to three captain level attacks.

6. Kuromuchi, or Black Whip. Yoshirou's swords dissipate, the purple smoke wrapping around his arms like chains. When they have covered both arms, he swings out, first to the left, and then to the right. The smoke extends from each arm, becoming massive tendrils. Each swing of the tendrils sends waves of black reiatsu out to tear apart an opponent. Calling up the blades takes one post, and they can last for up to five posts.

7. Tachidomaru, or "to halt." This technique utilizes Yoshirou's shield. The purple smoke comes from the shield, making it six and a half feet in height, and three feet wide. While this technique can't protect others, it's an incredibly powerful shield, which can protect Yoshirou from up to two captain-level attacks.

8. Maka Dokuhebi, or Coiled Viper. Yoshirou swings out with his sword, sending out a wave of purple smoke up to 100 feet in length, similar to Getsuga Tensho. The wave dissipates after one post.

▬▬┤|Bankai Release

Bankai Name: 無限黒曜石深度 Mugen Kokuyōseki Shindo (Infinite Obsidian Depths)
Bankai Incantation: Bankai, Mugen Kokuyōseki Shindo!
Bankai Description: Bankai Appearance (Once again, just the armor)
Bankai Ability:

1. Joyo Yohaku, or Quiet Zone. Basically an amplified version of Fukantai. It is 50 feet in radius this time, and lasts five posts instead of three. Someone of Captain-strength can still break through it, but will have a very hard time doing so.

2. Kyomu, or Oblivion. This is Yoshirou's primary offensive technique in Bankai. This increases his sword's length by 300%, making it three times as long as it was before. His blade also sends out waves of purple smoke on every impact, blasting his opponents away.

3. Shinka, or Apotheosis. Yoshirou puts down the shield, and it dissipates into purple smoke, which surrounds his blade. Instead of just making it longer this time, it thickens the blade as well, turning his sword into a massive claymore, six and a half feet in length and 9 inches wide. Each attack sends out the same waves as Kyomu, but amplified slightly.

4. Shinsei, or Divinity. Yoshirou puts down the shield, and it dissipates into purple smoke, which then surrounds his body, forming purple wings behind him, as well as chains that cover his arms. He holds his sword in a two-handed stance, and flies up, subsequently dropping to the ground, bringing his sword down in a massive two-handed slash that unleashes a tightly controlled explosion of reiatsu downwards, simply obliterating anything in a 15-foot diameter. The resulting crater is usually five to six feet deeper than the ground at its deepest.

5. Keiken Taiho, or Godly Cannon. This is Yoshirou's ultimate attack. This time, he kneels, driving the sword down into the ground, and covering it with his shield. The sword dissipates, as does the shield, both of them coating his chest. His armor changes, becoming a new form. (Minus the sword.) Whilst in this form, he can not only summon blades of purple smoke to fight with, but he has one final attack he can use. This is triggered by the opening of the tiny mouth on his chestplate. From the plate, a profuse amount of purple smoke comes forth, wrapping around his hands. When he is ready, he drops into a low stance, bringing both hands back and up, and shoots them both down, palms open facing down. The resulting blast is devastating, a huge wave of energy that can be seen for miles. This attack will instantly force Yoshirou out of his bankai, and auto-breaks the first two seals on Israphel. The wave itself measures up to a hundred meters out, indefinitely high, and about twenty meters wide. It can be repelled only by the strongest kido, so generally trying to dodge it is the only thing to do. Literally anything in it's path is almost instantly vaporized.
