xxxOur story begins...
In 1992. The city of Berlin was the first human settlement to receive contact from an alien entity only known asEmperor Cael. It was here, without skipping a heartbeat that he declared the planet Earth to be his next resource well and that humanity would serve under him, mining and collecting these natural materials to fuel his empire. On that day he offered an ultimatum; the governments of the world would have to surrender to him and humanity would be treated as his citizens, or attempt to fight back, fail, and be treated as slaves. As it was expected, humanity refused to bend so easily and utilizing the weaponry of that time, they chose to stand up and chase away their alien invader.
Sadly, all their technology paled compared toEmperor Cael'sand despite all efforts he easily blocked, shot down or destroyed any attempt at harming him and his ship. With the decision made clear, theEmperor Caelsent forth his greatest soldiers, taking over the cities of the world one by one and quickly enslaving the humans. It appeared to be that all hope was lost.
Then a year later, a second foreign being came to earth, taking on the personaGast. It declared itself to be the protector of earth, and asked for humanity’s full cooperation if they wished to rid themselves ofEmperor Cael. Its plan was to take four humans and embed them with powers, choosing those select few people with a rare and undiscovered gene that would allow them to take on any ability. However, in an attempt to use human soldiers as his four chosen guardians,Gastfound that humans with this special DNA sequence could only take on these powers when they were young, and that after a certain point the gene became inactive and would cease to absorb these abilities.
It was suggested then that four children be found, given the powers when they were young and then trained so that when they reached adulthood, they would be prepared to fight back. ButGastargued that humanity did not have the time, and that if they did not act now, then they would surely lose. With few alternatives, four children were chosen, trained, and then sent forth to fight back and though humanity was concerned that they would fail, these children in the end pulled through.
For five years they defended earth, setting up their base in one of the remaining free cities, Tokyo, and taking on the title;Gādian-tai. With each new challenge they overcame, their powers growing and their skills in battle increasing with each new fight. Then on their fifth year, something terrible happened. A member of the team went berserk, stressed from the thought that they would never win. He attacked people, unable to decipher friend from foe and his own team had to taken him down.Gastexamined the results of the incident, realizing that while their ability to obtain powers ceased after a certain age, they never lost the power given to them when they hit that age. Rather, their powers grew in strength, making them more and more risky should they go rogue.
Gastdecided in the end to disband the current group, telling them to cease using their powers and live normal lives at the risk of death should they not comply. It was the only way thatGastcould keep them from going berserk like their teammate. When they complied,Gastfound four more children to take their place. They would fight until they reached the age of sixteen, and then be disbanded so a new group could take over.
For twenty-years this pattern was repeated, each newGādian-taifighting to protect earth, whileEmperor Caellearned of new ways to always stay one step ahead and avoid total annihilation. Then one day, when the fourthGādian-taiwere sent forth to defend Sydney, the game had changed.
What they were presented with was not an alien soldier but a monster, a titanic beast with no intelligent thoughts or understanding, tearing its way through the city. Within minutes it killed three of the members; nearly successfully killing the last was it not for one member of the originalGādian-taiarriving to kill the beast.
The world andGastsat together, questioning what had happened. In the past there was little killing. Sure both sides would attempt to destroy the other, but theEmperor Caelvalued the concept that “a good slave is a live one” and always wanted to incapacitate his foes, not kill. So what had changed, why now did he decide to skip past the norm and murder?
They hoped it was just a mistake, perhaps a new plan gone awry. But then a second monster appeared, and then a third. The tactics were different, his motives no longer decipherable. Things had to change, and reluctantlyGastceased choosing new, young children to be the nextGādian-tai. He summoned those who remained, asking they take up the mantle asGādian-taiand fight back. But now they had to finish it, now they had to defeatEmperor Caeland end this battle once and for all.

Gen. 1: Gādian-tai (-Guardian Squadron-) This was the first 4 children chosen to defend the world from Emperor Cael and were raised at a time where humanity feared being conquered. At that point they were treated as soldiers, strictly trained and watched over by Gast. They had rarely seen their parents, family and friends, and had little time for education so it can be expected that they may not be wealthy or living full, normal lives. They should be in their late twenties to early thirties.
1. Wind 2. Fire 3. Sidney Hext; Water 4. Theodor Carlson; Earth
Gen. 2: Shin Gādian-tai (-New Guardian Squadron-) The successors to Gādian-tai, they were put into their position at a time where the fear of being enslaved had waned and were now transforming into idolization. Gast has lightened in his strict behavior, concerned that it was his training that had resulted in “the mistake” that led to the disbandment of Gādian-tai, and so these children have been in closer contact with their family and friends unlike Gādian-tai, though education was still limited. They should be in their mid-twenties.
1. Falomi Yael Bourne; Telekinesis 2. Super Strength 3. Super Speed 4. Sophia Jackson; Transformation
Gen. 3: Sūpāgādian-tai (-Super Guardian Squadron-) The third generation of Gādian-tai, they were given the task of protecting a world when the fear of Emperor Cael had almost ceased and was treated more as a joke. Gast had not changed his behaviors prior to Shin Gādian-tai, but at this point the four members were treated as celebrities. They also had more time to attend school but at the cost of their training, since the attacks by Emperor Cael had weakened significantly. They should be in their early twenty.
1. Electricity 2. Gravity 3. Lasers [Taken: Little Fluffette] 4. Time [Taken: leka_liko]
Gen. 4: Megagādian-tai (-Mega Guardian Squadron-) The last generation of the Gādian-tai, they were brought about when humanity had almost assumed Emperor Cael was going to lose. The attacks became rare and they were almost treated as pop-icons than heroes. As such, Gast had waned also in his training and they were quite unprepared for the attack. As a result, only one member remains after watching their entire team die. They should be in their mid-teens.
The Empire of Cael A space dictator, no one knows what Emperor Cael truly looks like as he wears a full-body, metallic suit that covers up all features. There are theories, but it is hard to pinpoint. His soldiers on the other hand come in a variety of shapes, sizes and appearances. This is because Emperor Cael's soldiers are not from other planets but are organically created beings with sentience, created in whatever image Emperor Cael wills.
1. Emperor Cael [Currently NPC] - remaining, sentient soldiers go here
The Global Guardian Federation Consisting of Gast and the human military and political figures, this is the group bent on defeating Emperor Cael and his army. Where Emperor Cael has a physical form, Gast is an entity made of pure energy and is currently housed in a device connected to a large computer. It does have a robotic suit it can enter into at the most desperate of times, but it is usually stationary at the base.
1. Gast [Currently NPC] - all military and political figures go here
The List of Known Leviathan Though sent forth by Emperor Cael, the people consider them separate from his Empire on account that they are gigantic beasts with no intelligence. There have only been three attacks to date and most of the time, it causes a great deal of destruction. They can look like anything, and though usually big they are capable of appearing much smaller.
1. Sydney Smasher [Attacked Sydney] 2. Criant Vent [Attacked Montreal] 3. The Hydra [Attacked The Island of Crete

xxxThe Rules on Character Creation
1. Please properly consider which generation of Gādian-tai you are. Someone who is generation one should not be 15 years old, and the remaining member of Generation four should be anything but okay after nearly dying and watching three of their teammates die. 2. Only one power per person. No single character can have multiple abilities. 3. While the roleplay does take place in Tokyo your character does not have to be of Japanese decent. A lot of the characters come from different parts of the world and were brought to Japan to be Gādian-tai. So I encourage you to have characters from any part of the world be it America, Nigeria, Russia, etc, etc. And for those wondering yes; all characters can speak Japanese (otherwise, how would they live in Japan for five years?) 4. While it says that at sixteen they are retired (assuming all members started at the age of 11), Gādian-tai start anywhere from 9 – 12 years of age. So you can be, for example in Generation three, 19 – 22, or in Generation one, 29 – 32. 5. If you want to join the roleplay but don’t want to be a Gādian-tai, you can ask to be Emperor Cael (but PM me about this first), Gast (also PM about this) or a Marshal/General/Any military figure who helps guide the Gādian-tai. Though keep in mind their role and what they can/cannot and would/would not do (e.g. Emperor Cael would not descend to earth and fight up front; Gast does not join fights unless it is extremely necessary) 6. No Mary-sues or Gary-stus obviously, and no character is more important than the other. Kidnapping and signaled-out attacks can happen, but we should not hear of how “Emperor Cael is after you because of how special you are” or how “Gast especially chosen you for how awesome you are”.
The Rules on the Setting
xxx
1. The roleplay takes place in Tokyo where their base of operations is. As such please don’t have your characters be in New York or somewhere else in the world. 2. The only time the roleplay takes place anywhere else in the world, it is when Emperor Cael has sent his monsters to attack. That will be the only time when the roleplay setting is moved. 3. When a monster is attacking, one user active in the fight will need to take control of the beast (in that you state what its doing and how it’s getting hurt, who it’s attacking, etc, etc). As such if you do agree to take on the role of temporarily controlling the monster, I will give you the choice as to what the monster will look like, what it can do, its name and how big it is. So I emphasis being super creative and creepy as you wish~ Just remember that the monster are: xxxxxx1) Not sentient, they tend to act as wild beasts xxxxxx2) They are usually very big and are often destroying cities xxxxxx3) Will have one power (you can choose if it’s flight, teleportation, etc, etc) If you do want to deviate from this (make them smaller, semi-sentient, etc, etc) or don’t know what to do, post in the OOC room and talk with everyone. We can decide then if it’ll fit or not. We will likely plan ahead when the next attack happens so that the roleplay isn’t stopped or shaky.

The Story so Far...
This is where our roleplay summary will be. It will help any new members who join later, or members who had to go off somewhere, understand where everyone is curretly.
