“Possibly,” replied Ross without missing a beat. He was so occupied with racing the rainstorm that the cattaur didn’t even feel like arguing against Harper. Maybe there was a reason his father often told him to avoid this area during the high summer months. Freak storms were too common in this place; too much magic resided here and created natural disasters in hours which would disappear like the fog the next morning. As the raindrops began to beat even harder down around them Ross found them lost in a white fog of torrential rain. Each drop though crackled with some residue energy that the clouds had been holding. It was shocking to his skin and soon some of the drops were even becoming hard as ice while others crackled with just pure energy to shock a taur.
Harper was tired, he had noticed that much. That illusion trick had probably worn her down…so to ask for more magic here was cruel. Sighing Ross tugged on the hand he had captured to draw the female in closer to him and raised an arm around her so that he could keep the rain from her with his own fire magic. A cloak of steam surrounded them as he led the way up the twisting paths, “Don’t take it the wrong way.” He commented softly before tightening his hold on her and reaching out towards a cliff wall, “But I need to hold you close for this.” And it was only the rain's threat that made his heart beat so boldly at the thought...that was all.
Secretly it wasn’t fire magic that pushed the wall of water away from them, but Ross made no comment. Instead he focused on quietly muttering the charms away and after brushing the water stained ivy to the side revealed the small entrance. Clawing his way up he held onto Harper and gently guided her into the cave after him lighting up the darkness with just a ball of flame as the entrance quickly closed right behind them, “Did I mention that weather storms happen with some weird magic around this area?” He asked with a forced chuckle, “That was my bad…thought it was going to be clear today.” Looking around with the bouncing flame he sighed, “But we can’t take that forest path anymore so caverns it is. Everything else will be flooded until morning…so we’ll have to make do with this. Hope you like the underground~”

The farther they traveled the more Harper began dreading every step. She didn't understand why they couldn't just take it easy, but he seemed to know this area better than she did. Was whatever was coming really so bad? Even as the thought came to her a shocking array of drops hit her skin, causing her to hiss. This was...terrifying wonderful. She wanted to stay and study it, learned from it, but mostly she just wanted to get away from it!
Harper's latest curse ended on a shocked huff of breath as she was drawn closer to Ross. Her heart stopped it's beating for a full minute, even after he'd spoke. "I trust you. Just get us out of here, fast." She tried to move her hair away from her face, now that she was being shielded by his magic, but the wet tendrils just sloshed back across her nose.
I trust you. Did she, really? Trust was relative at this point; she didn't even know if she trusted herself after making such a statement. Instead she focused on crawling after him, maneuvering her gear through the small space with an air of hesitancy, that turned into full blown panic when the door shut behind them.
"I-It's fine, I mean, really fine, like we could just wait it out fine. No need to go underground." Steeling her nerves a bit, Harper turned a tired look to Ross, and blurted, "If you want to go through those caverns be my guest, but I am not going down there."
